Copyright
[edit]Hi, Nujiro, I've deleted the image you uploaded, since it appeared to be a copyright violation. That image doesn't seem to have been released under a compatible free license, which is what Wikipedia generally requires to host images. Also, I see that your draft, User:Nujiro/sandbox, also incorporates copyrighted text from the site http://artbyemmett.com/biography/; this is also not allowed on Wikipedia. Information from sources must be used and discussed in original wording; we cannot simply copy the words, as that would constitute plagiarism. The draft needs to be reworked to remove any copied language in order for it to be acceptable. Writ Keeper ⚇♔ 15:45, 1 May 2018 (UTC)
Writ Keeper I own the website ArtByEmmett.com . I own all of the written materials submitted, I own the copyrights to all images.Nujiro (talk) 16:01, 1 May 2018 (UTC)
I am having trouble getting images uploaded. I own the rights, but even after checking the correct box attesting to it, my uploads are denied. I then tried to upload to Wiki as was suggested as an alternative. The n my work was deleted. I don't have a lot of time, it's taken weeks just to get rejected. This process needs to be rethought effectively. I am about to become really discouraged from participating in it. Nujiro (talk) 16:19, 1 May 2018 (UTC)
- Well, first, let me say that I'm sorry that this is a frustrating process. I totally get that, and you're not the first person to find it so. If you are the subject of the article, then things are a little different, but there's still a process that needs to be followed. You have to understand that we don't really have any way to tell that you're who you say you are; the only thing we can see is the website you got the materials from, and that is pretty clear that these things aren't released under a CC-BY-SA license. You'd first need to update your website to show that you've released your materials under a CC-BY-SA 3.0 license, or something equivalent. You should definitely be aware of what that means, if you're not. I think in theory you can also contact the Open Ticket Request System to release the materials as well.
- But before you do that, you should also know that copyright isn't the only issue with the draft. We very strongly discourage people from writing articles about themselves, and your draft reads as non-neutral to me; phrases like "the rest is mythical but true" do not fit the neutral tone expected in a Wikipedia article. Promotion or publicity isn't what Wikipedia is for, and while that might not be your intent in writing an article about yourself, it's very difficult for anyone to write an article about themselves without anything that could be considered promotional in it. I don't mean to discourage you from editing Wikipedia; copyright issues are tricky at the best of times and every attempt to create content is appreciated. But this isn't really a great way of doing it. Writ Keeper ⚇♔ 16:54, 1 May 2018 (UTC)
Understood re:process 1. I can tone it down some, I would rather not write, I'm swamped with work, though numerous articles have been written about me, writers won't even allow me to pay them to do it...for me. While in the past they did it for Newspapers and for free. No one else can do it, so I have to. I am not seeking fame. I had my 1st solo in DC, when the Van Goghs Van Goghs show opened in the 1980's....no reporter from the Washington Post would cover it...and went further, taunted me that no one else would. I got 1 reporter, from 1 newspaper to go see my show. They wrote about my show next to Van Gogh's in their paper. Then they kept writing about me and dropped Van Gogh. I would call that 'mythyic'..but you can interpret that feat how you see it. I would like to be on Wiki because I like most African Americans work is routinely suppressed in the artworld, and venues like Wiki can/would/should enable the public to see what they are missing in Museums..also i'm the only man to ever exhibit in the National Museum for Women in the Arts-I was asked when I was an employee to organize a Show for the museums staff by Anne Imleda Marino Radice, the Museums then Director, later she became a Presidential appointee, and ran the NEA. My mentor is on Wikipedia also, (Georgette Seabrooke-Powell) she was a great Harlem Renaissance painter and I was very please to find her on Wiki. I'm gonna keep submitting my article with corrections until you make me stop. But i'm going to get this done. Thanks so much, sincerely.Nujiro (talk) 17:33, 1 May 2018 (UTC)

I looked at the Notable Artist requirements. I have work in Public spaces purchased by DC Government-I only have a typed letter, it may be notorized as well.....which states that it is a city purchase, and an award ceremony was being given for me. Not sure if that will work, it was in the '80s, (I stayed in an orphanage as a child, then as luck would have it the city asked me to create murals for it. ( , and have donate works in my current city.Nujiro (talk) 03:25, 2 May 2018 (UTC)Nujiro (talk) 18:15, 3 May 2018 (UTC) I can't get my images uploaded using the tools, there is a glitch in the system. When I used the other option of uploading to Wikipedia as instructions implied I was successful, but couldn't get imagery to appear on the article draft page. Then an editor removed the imagery. It just doesn't seem right, without contacting to inquire or anything, I checked the box which asked if you had permission etc. , I don't understand this uneccessarily rudeness, mostly everybody is helpful, but they aren't the problem. I just sense the real reason some folks are on here is to make others life difficult.

File permission problem with File:Cubist woman.png
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Cubist woman.png, which you've attributed to Emmett Ardie Williams. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.
If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either
- make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
- Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.
If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.
If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F11 of the criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 13:42, 14 September 2018 (UTC)
