Discussion of interest

A discussion you may be interested in is this RFC, a proposal to make the second comma in a date/place optional. United States Man (talk) 04:28, 27 October 2013 (UTC)

MOS:COMMA

You recently contributed to a discussion at Wikipedia talk:Naming conventions (geographic names) § Commas in metro areas. Following a recent related RFC on the wording used at MOS:COMMA in relation to geographic names, a new wording has gathered some support and I have opened a new RFC at Wikipedia talk:Manual of Style § RFC: Proposed amendment to MOS:COMMA regarding geographical references and dates for further discussion of the proposal, which may interest you. sroc 💬 08:47, 7 November 2013 (UTC)

updating information

I have additional information I'd like to share with you about one of your posts. I know little about posting on Wikipedia, but clearly you know a lot about it. Should I make additions to one of your posts, or would you like me to send it to you and have you update the post?

Localdistrict (talk) 18:56, 7 May 2014 (UTC)

Definitely update it yourself. Everybody's allowed to improve things around here. If it needs further changes, someone will fix it. Ntsimp (talk) 21:54, 7 May 2014 (UTC)

Utah census-designated places

Hi-User: The Catalyst31 has a list of census-designated places that needs articles at the talk page. Utah has 1 census-designated place: Wolf Creek, Utah in Weber County that needs an article. I thought you might be interested. Many thanks-RFD (talk) 13:08, 7 August 2014 (UTC)

Some MORE baklava for you!

I hope you like baklava. I second what Jonpatterns said above. I was in the process of creating my own similar userbox and just happened to notice yours in a cat tree. I'm using yours instead. Wouldn't you vastly increase exposure if you added it to the userbox gallery, like, say, here?   Mandruss |talk  06:14, 14 August 2014 (UTC)
Thanks. I've added it to the gallery. I've never tried baklava, but it looks good. Ntsimp (talk) 15:21, 14 August 2014 (UTC)

Rollback granted

Hi Ntsimp. After reviewing your request for rollback, I have enabled rollback on your account. Keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:

  • Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
  • Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
  • Rollback should never be used to edit war.
  • If abused, rollback rights can be revoked.
  • Use common sense.

If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:New admin school/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Thank you for helping to reduce vandalism. Happy editing! — MusikAnimal talk 21:34, 11 December 2014 (UTC)

Peep

Thanks for the essay copy edit. However, I should warn you that deletion of double-spacing between sentences is considered bad form here and will upset people. Many editors prefer it in wiki source code because it greatly increases scannability (same reason it's done in typed manuscripts - the monospaced font need this "whitespace kerning"), while it has no effect of any kind on the rendered output.  — SMcCandlish ¢ ≽ʌⱷ҅ʌ≼  18:04, 22 July 2015 (UTC)

Sorry. That's news to me; didn't mean to step on any toes. Ntsimp (talk) 12:42, 23 July 2015 (UTC)

Deletion of Erdős number information

Hi! Thank you for all of your contributions!  :) I noticed that one of them had been deleted, which I think is unjustifiable. I just reverted a similar deletion, explaining why. Your point of view on the matter would be greatly appreciated.

Davis County Utah buildings

Can you possibly make sense out of First National Bank of Layton and Farmer's Union Building amongst William Allen (Utah architect)'s works? There is a building from 1890 and/or 1905 and/or 1981? Help!--doncram 16:08, 21 December 2016 (UTC)

I'm thinking the biggest part of this confusion is that the bank moved. The 1905 building at 50 W. Gentile St. was the original bank building. The Farmer's Union Building, built in 1890, at 12 S. Main St., has been home of the bank's main branch since 1981. Both buildings are NRHP-listed, both have housed the bank, and they are right across the street from each other. I hope that helps. Ntsimp (talk) 16:06, 23 December 2016 (UTC)
Hi, thanks for your reply, I think I saw the reply back then but got busy on something else. Hmm, did any of that get into the First National Bank of Layton article? From what source... And/or should the Farmer's Union Building (currently a redlink) get created (there are NRHP document and photos available for it at NPS).
Also, I wonder if you'd like to help edit the "NRIS-only" articles in Utah, in a small joint effort. There are just 14 such articles according to the current wp:NRHPprogress page. None of them were started by me by the way; back in December I suppose it was, when I returned to expand all my creations in Utah that were in that category still. As I have done for batches of NRIS-only articles in other states, I could use AutoWikiBrowser tool to edit a standard NRHP document reference into all of them, and put them into a temporary "under construction" type category, and then they'd require individual followup editing to expand the NRHP reference and to develop the articles using their information. Hopefully this would work for most of them; there could be some where no NRHP document is available and more scrounging would be required. I'd be happy to get them started in a batch, and to do about half of the development editing required, if you would also? Let me know if interested. --doncram 19:51, 14 February 2017 (UTC)

Idaho NRHP note from Google streetview source

Hi, thank you for your edits of National Register of Historic Places listings in Custer County, Idaho back a while, in September 2014. You had noted there that Buster Meat Market (now a new article) had been gone by 2008. I wondered how 2008 was a relevant date, but I just figured now that your knowing that was from Google Streetview, because the still-current streetview is dated from 2008 and shows a gap between two buildings that flanked it in its listing photo. FYI, I recorded Google Streetview and Google satellite view as sources into the article now as a note with this edit; you may like it, or not, as a way to record Google maps/streetview stuff. I used a note, using <ref group=note>A note.</ref> and {{reflist|group=note}} to explain the situation. User:Bubba73 has done a lot of noting stuff from Google satellite view for NRHPs that seem to be gone, especially in Georgia.

Also you noted that Challis Cold Storage (now also a new article) was the building which toppled killing 2 children in an earthquake; I haven't found a source specifically naming that building as opposed to the Buster Meat Market building, but I assume you were correct, so I leave it stated without source in the article. It happens i am developing some in Idaho, perhaps to bring all counties in Idaho over 20% articled level in wp:NRHPPROGRESS maps. Again, thanks, keep up your good work! cheers, --doncram 19:59, 9 October 2017 (UTC)
