- Hi, this is not ai-generated. Please see www.skwortsow.com for the original source. This website has been online since the late 90s and I updated it in 2010 when my father (Alexander Skwortsow) passed away. Nskwortsow (talk) 12:31, 14 November 2024 (UTC)
- Hi @Nskwortsow, thanks for letting me know. It reads like AI-generated text as it has the flowery overly complex prose common to AI chat bots. However, Wikipedia articles need to be written in a strictly neutral point of view so this would need a total re-write.
- We also require more sources to establish notability: we need significant coverage in multiple, independent, reliable sources such as magazines, books, or newspapers.
- Let me know if you have any more questions. qcne (talk) 12:47, 14 November 2024 (UTC)
- OK, I've update the language to make it more neutral, and I've added 2 references. Nskwortsow (talk) 12:56, 14 November 2024 (UTC)
- Hi @Nskwortsow, sorry - the two sources you added don't provide enough notability.
- ssorchestra just lists him, so not significant coverage. violinist.com is okay to source his death, but we're still trying to establish notability.
- Ideally we're looking for critical review, discussion, commentary?
- The references tutorial is at WP:INTREFVE for you to format your references properly. qcne (talk) 14:05, 14 November 2024 (UTC)
- I've added another reference, from a major German composer from the 20th century (Hummel). Nskwortsow (talk) 14:47, 14 November 2024 (UTC)
- The letter doesn't seem to mention Alexander? qcne (talk) 15:27, 14 November 2024 (UTC)
- Hi, Alexander Skwortsow is mentioned ("A. Skwortsow") and is shown on the photo on this page. 145.53.130.47 (talk) 17:32, 17 November 2024 (UTC)
- It's only a really brief mention, so unfortunately doesn't contribute to notability. qcne (talk) 17:47, 17 November 2024 (UTC)
- OK, how about: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boris_Goldstein where Alexander Skwortsow is mentioned as a notable student (alongside Zakhar Bron, the teacher of Maxim Vengerov) (note: I did not write this page)? I've added this as a reference. 145.53.130.47 (talk) 19:19, 17 November 2024 (UTC)
- Unfortunately Wikipedia cannot be used to reference itself. Are there any secondary sources that discuss him in detail? Books, newspapers, etc... qcne (talk) 19:26, 17 November 2024 (UTC)
- I've found a PDF (https://www.die-gemeinnuetzige.de/fileadmin/media/luebeckische-blaetter/2024/17_LB189.pdf) that mentions Skwortsow's role in fundraising during his tenure as concertmaster in Lübeck (Germany). 145.53.130.47 (talk) 19:29, 17 November 2024 (UTC)
- A brief mention, so not significant coverage. Sorry. qcne (talk) 19:30, 17 November 2024 (UTC)
- What are you looking for, please? My dad's career peaked in the 70s and 80s. Can I upload scanned newspaper excerpts as proof of his role as a virtuoso soloist and concertmaster, which substantiates the claims made in the text above? 145.53.130.47 (talk) 19:33, 17 November 2024 (UTC)
- No, please don't upload copyrighted material. However we can accept offline references such as newspaper articles.
- Significant coverage
- We need significant coverage. We need multiple sources that discuss your father directly and in detail. Not: passing mentions, directory listings, government records. Several of them (a minimum of three, usually). The subject of the article must be notable.
- Reliable sources
- We need sources that are reliable. Usually this means that the publisher has a reputation for fact checking and accuracy. A major newspaper, a factual, widely-published book, academic journals, high-quality generally trusted mainstream publications. Not forums, blogs, social media, fansites, wikis, or other sites with user-generated content. The content of the article must be verifiable.
- Independent
- We need sources that are independent from the subject of the article. Nothing written by the subject, paid for by the subject, or affiliated with the subject. Not their website, not a press release, not an interview. qcne (talk) 19:37, 17 November 2024 (UTC)
- Will do! How can I add newspaper clippings to this thread? I don't see a file upload field. Nskwortsow (talk) 14:38, 18 November 2024 (UTC)
- As I said, please don't upload copyrighted materials. Newspaper clippings are unlikely to be fair-use. We don't have a file-sharing system on pages, but if you want to upload media, you can go to our sister project Wikimedia Commons. Be really careful about what you upload, as we take copyright seriously.
- You don't need to upload a newspaper clipping in order to reference it: as long as you provide a full reference following Template:Cite_news. qcne (talk) 14:41, 18 November 2024 (UTC)
- Hi, I've added the references to the newspaper articles in the format. Is this sufficient to approve publication of the page, please? Nskwortsow (talk) 18:48, 19 November 2024 (UTC)
- All your citations are hanging off at the end of the page, please could you place them in-line with the text they are referring to? so e.g. it would be Alexander Skwortsow died on 24 November 2010 [8] instead of the [1] to [8] right at the bottom. qcne (talk) 18:54, 19 November 2024 (UTC)
- I've fixed this and have inserted the references in the correct positions in the text. Nskwortsow (talk) 19:09, 19 November 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you- you can now submit that draft for review. qcne (talk) 19:17, 19 November 2024 (UTC)
