Welcome!

Hello, Nrwilk, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question and then place {{helpme}} after the question on your talk page. Again, welcome!  Pyrospirit Flames Fire 00:29, 28 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

By the way, just in case you're wondering, typing "hello" on your talk page doesn't automatically give you a welcome message. I just happened to notice. :) Pyrospirit Flames Fire 00:31, 28 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
thank you for the welcome message. That was extremely fast! Nrwilk 02:43, 28 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
You're welcome! As for how I noticed so quickly, I was scanning the list of recent changes for all of Wikipedia to check for any obviously harmful edits. (This is known as recent changes patrolling.) I was also using an editing program designed to check recent changes for that purpose, and I just happened to notice your "hello" message on your talk page.
Also, in response to your message on my talk page, you really don't have to read that much before you start editing. Really, you'll be fine just scanning the five pillars page and looking at how to edit a page whenever you need help with syntax or formatting. And if you make a mistake, it's no big deal, we've all done that. We even have a policy about it: Don't bite the newcomers!. Pyrospirit Flames Fire 21:44, 28 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Have a welcome from me too. I fixed the link on my User page.--Rjstott 12:46, 2 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

I have decided to put on a mini-contest within the November 2013 monthly disambiguation contest, on Saturday, November 23 (UTC). I will personally give a $20 Amazon.com gift card to the disambiguator who fixes the most links on that server-day (see the project page for details on scoring points). Since we are not geared up to do an automated count for that day, at 00:00, 23 November 2013 (UTC) (which is 7:00 PM on November 22, EST), I'll take a screenshot of the project page leaderboard. I will presume that anyone who is not already listed on the leaderboard has precisely nine edits. At 01:00, 24 November 2013 (UTC) (8:00 PM on November 23, EST), I'll take a screenshot of the leaderboard at that time (the extra hour is to give the board time to update), and I will determine from that who our winner is. I will credit links fixed by turning a WP:DABCONCEPT page into an article, but you'll have to let me know me that you did so. Here's to a fun contest. Note that according to the Daily Disambig, we currently have under 256,000 disambiguation links to be fixed. If everyone in the disambiguation link fixers category were to fix 500 links, we would have them all done - so aim high! Cheers! bd2412 T 02:34, 18 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
