Speedy deletion nomination of Slime (Brand)
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Slime (Brand), requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Steamroller Assault (talk) 21:49, 11 August 2011 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on Slime (Brand) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

Conflict of interest
[edit]Hello Npwright1289. If you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article Slime (Brand), you may have a conflict of interest or close connection to the subject.
All editors are required to comply with Wikipedia's neutral point of view content policy. People who are very close to a subject often have a distorted view of it, which may cause them to inadvertently edit in ways that make the article either too flattering or too disparaging. People with a close connection to a subject are not absolutely prohibited from editing about that subject, but they need to be especially careful about following the reliable sources and writing with as little bias as possible.
If you are very close to a subject, here are some ways you can reduce the risk of problems:
- Avoid or exercise great caution when editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with.
- Be cautious about deletion discussions. Everyone is welcome to provide information about independent sources in deletion discussions, but avoid advocating for deletion of articles about your competitors.
- Avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).
- Exercise great caution so that you do not accidentally breach Wikipedia's content policies.
Please familiarize yourself with relevant content policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.
For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you. ~Amatulić (talk) 18:48, 7 September 2011 (UTC)
Because of your conflict of interest, I strongly suggest that you either (a) work on this article in your own user space, or (b) propose it on Wikipedia:Articles for creation. Further attempts to create this article will result in a block. ~Amatulić (talk) 18:48, 7 September 2011 (UTC)
Thank you, I appreciate the information. I don't work for the brand, just a friend. That being said - all the company pages on here were just written by people, not the brand itself? I certainly do not want to breach Wiki's content policy. I will read up a little more about it and tread with caution. As I mentioned above I don't want it to be an advertisement. I was just surprised they didn't have one and thought I'd pop one up because I love the stuff (though I know there's conflicting opinions out there). Best wishes.. - Usually articles here are created by regular people. There are plenty of cases where an article is created by someone with a conflict of interest but they know the WP:CORP inclusion criteria and know how to write neutrally. Anything that looks like promotion quickly gets deleted.
- Regarding your question to me on my talk page about reviewing a draft: Just create it as a sub-page in your own user space, such as User:Npwright1289/Slime (brand). If you have done so, just let me know where it is. Best to keep it on Wikipedia, then you can get the formatting and sourcing correct and have others review it before moving it to main space. ~Amatulić (talk) 22:15, 4 October 2011 (UTC)
Thank you - it's on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Npwright1289/Slime_(brand)I'm still working on it, I just don't want to risk publishing it for it to get flagged forever. It reads to me as unbiased, but since I like the brand it's possible I'm bias. I know there's a lot of people with a lot of different experiences with it - so I know it's not perfect. If you could take a glance, that would be great. Thank you again. Npwright1289 (talk) 00:03, 5 October 2011 (UTC)
- I looked it over and made some minor edits. The tone is neutral enough, but unfortunately this article would be speedily deleted if it were moved into main space. The main problem is notability. The article doesn't make any assertion why the company is notable. Without that assertion, it needs to have significant coverage in multiple, independent, secondary sources. It isn't good enough to cite primary sources (like the company's web site), non-independent sources like press releases, or sources that give the company a trivial mention rather than significant coverage. See the WP:CORP guideline, which describes the criteria for inclusion that a company must meet before it can have a Wikipedia article. ~Amatulić (talk) 18:28, 5 October 2011 (UTC)
Thank you! It's much appreciated and I will take the time to find the right resources or won't bother posting it. I had no idea so much went into making a wiki, phew ;) Npwright1289 (talk) 21:17, 5 October 2011 (UTC)
New version
[edit]I'm just now getting back to this. I've added a couple of other links to it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Npwright1289/Slime_(brand) There's obviously enough "interest" in sealants and canned tire inflator - it's a work in progress. I'm trying to dig up some other resources, but if you have the time to take a glance, to see if the references to the msnbc blog and the Nate_Berkus - it's not mentions that focus on Slime, but they're big venues that have taken mention. If that doesn't work then I'm assuming I should just put this on hold?
Thank you again. ~ Npwright1289
- Hi, it's looking a lot better. I just made some more edits. It's improving. If you moved it to main space it would probably be kept by a hair, but I wouldn't be certain. You really need more secondary independent sources. Press releases and pages on the company web site don't really count as coverage. Blogs are also questionable, but in some cases they are valid sources, such as blogs by well known journalists. In this case it's a blog of 4Wheel Drive Magazine, and written by the editor in chief. If that site is more than a one-man project (that is, they have a staff) then the blog should be OK to cite. The video should be OK too.
- I'd say, if you can find anything else, add it in and we'll see how it flies in main space.
- Oh, I have deleted the original article from your user page because that isn't an appropriate use of your user page. Please continue working on it in the sub-page User:Npwright1289/Slime (brand). Let me know when you think it's ready. ~Amatulić (talk) 18:33, 31 October 2011 (UTC)
Thank you for the feedback! I didn't realize at first that I could make a practice page like the /Slime (brand). I meant to delete the other one and it just slipped my mind. I'll see what else I can find in the next week or so before finally writing it off as the best I can do. I'll give you a shout if/when I find more links to add on.
