Dear @Notrecercle:
Thanks for your feedback. My reason for proposing the deletion is that I cannot find any reliable sources having significant coverage of Pisanne, and he fails English Wikipedia's threshold of notability for academics (see WP:NACADEMIC).
You said Yannik Pisanne is the low-key author of the first translation of a classical book. I am not 100% sure if I get what you mean, but I understand it as Yannik Pisanne translated a classical book. This does not immediately qualify him for notability.
If you have reasons that the article should not be deleted, such as reliable sources, you are more than welcome to post them at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Yannik Pisanne. I encourage that we move this discussion to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Yannik Pisanne.
Are you using a large language model in your response? This is not personal, but using an LLM will be more difficult for us to communicate because an LLM could conflate and deviate things from their original meaning. Please see WP:Competence is required.
Cheers, -- TheLonelyPather (talk) 13:55, 18 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Dear @TheLonelyPather,
I appreciate your continued engagement in this discussion and your commitment to maintaining Wikipedia's standards. I also understand your concerns regarding the notability of Yannik Pisanne as an academic (see WP:NACADEMIC) and the clarification about his translation work on classical books.
You've raised a valid point about the presence of reliable sources that may not be readily accessible to you through non-French search results, and the classification as academic may not be the best focus of his notability.
I've reviewed the links provided from Ouest France and Actuallité, which indeed feature information about Yannik Pisanne and for which you can remove classification of academic:
This is one article from Ouest France (a national French Journal since 1944) https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ouest-France https://www.ouest-france.fr/pays-de-la-loire/beaupreau-49600/yannick-pisanne-professeur-et-ecrivain-fougueux-2646178 And another article from the French Journal Actuallité ( a national journal since 2008): https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/ActuaLitt%C3%A9 https://actualitte.com/livres/1137680/chant-prometheen-yannik-pisanne-9791037735638
His book are widely distributed in France as one can see through the French net.
These sources can contribute to establishing his notability, and I agree on the importance of reliable sources in this context.
Given this information and the books results, I believe it would be beneficial to reconsider the article's deletion.
However, I would like to propose an alternative solution. Instead of deleting the English article, would it be possible to retain the French article (given the French sources) and cross-reference the English with the French article? I believe this approach would best serve Wikipedia's goal of providing information to a global audience.
I hope we can find a solution that aligns with Wikipedia's guidelines.
Best regards,

Dear @Notrecercle:
You mentioned about a "French article". I am not sure what you mean by this. There is not an article titled "Yannik Pisanne" on French Wikipedia.
Cheers, -- TheLonelyPather (talk) 17:28, 18 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
On a second note, I thank you for providing the article from Ouest France. However, this level of notability does not amount to the level of notability required for academics on English Wikipedia. Have you looked into WP:NACADEMIC? To quote from the page,
  1. The person's research has had a significant impact in their scholarly discipline, broadly construed, as demonstrated by independent reliable sources.
  2. The person has received a highly prestigious academic award or honor at a national or international level.
  3. The person has been an elected member of a highly selective and prestigious scholarly society or association (e.g., a National Academy of Sciences or the Royal Society) or a fellow of a major scholarly society which reserves fellow status as a highly selective honor (e.g., Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers).
  4. The person's academic work has made a significant impact in the area of higher education, affecting a substantial number of academic institutions.
  5. The person has held a named chair appointment or distinguished professor appointment at a major institution of higher education and research, or an equivalent position in countries where named chairs are uncommon.
  6. The person has held a highest-level elected or appointed administrative post at a major academic institution or major academic society.
  7. The person has had a substantial impact outside academia in their academic capacity.
  8. The person has been the head or chief editor of a major, well-established academic journal in their subject area.
Your source provides an introduction to Pisanne. However, it does not demonstrate how he meets these criteria. TheLonelyPather (talk) 17:32, 18 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Again, I encourage that we move this communication to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Yannik Pisanne. It's a more proper venue to discuss the deletion / retention of the article. -- TheLonelyPather (talk) 17:38, 18 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Dear @TheLonelyPather,
Regarding your recent deletion of the Yannik Pisanne article and the removal of its translation. I understand your concerns and appreciate your dedication to maintaining Wikipedia's quality standards.
However, I'd like to kindly request that we consider reinstating the article in French that you deleted, which was the translation of the English article. Our mistake was creating the article in English without considering that Yannik Pisanne is not an English author and scholar, but a French one. This French article was linked to the English version and served as a valuable reference for readers who prefer to access the information in French. This approach aligns with Wikipedia's goal of providing comprehensive information to a global audience in multiple languages.
By keeping the French version while adhering to Wikipedia's notability guidelines and ensuring its accuracy, we can offer a more inclusive and informative experience for our diverse readership. I believe this would be a constructive way to address the concerns raised and maintain a well-rounded presentation of Yannik Pisanne's work and contributions.
I appreciate your understanding and consideration of this request. If you have any further questions or suggestions regarding this matter, please feel free to share them.
Thank you for your time and dedication to Wikipedia.
Best regards,

Dear @Notrecercle,
I would like to clarify that I did not delete, and I do not have the capacity to delete, the French article. That is something happening on the French Wikipedia, and I cannot assist you on this matter.
Please kindly raise your concern to the French Wikipedia. -- TheLonelyPather (talk) 18:50, 18 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Dear @TheLonelyPather, it's important to note that the deletion occurred without a comprehensive review of potential reliable sources in French. Given that Yannik Pisanne's work and contributions are well-documented in French sources, it would have been prudent to thoroughly review the French search results before taking any further action.
By keeping the French version and conducting a more in-depth review, we can address the concerns raised while upholding Wikipedia's standards and providing a more inclusive and informative experience for our diverse readership.
I appreciate your understanding and consideration of this request. If you have any further questions or suggestions regarding this matter, please feel free to share them.
Thank you for your time and dedication to Wikipedia.
