Re: Your edit of Phenols and polyphenols derivative
[edit]Hi, I saw you had moved the content of my edit back to the Natural Phenols page. Could I ask what your reason for this was? I was trying to clean the article up. I notice that you've also added a small bit of info into the Phenols and polyphenols derivative page, which is also a bit counter-productive with what I was trying to achieve. I'm trying not to be too critical as I'm really pleased that I'm not the only one that wishes to improve these articles. I really feel that the term 'Natural phenols' should not be used as an article title, as it's not commonly used amongst those in the field of polyphenols and phenolics. There isn't really a need to define polyphenols by whether they are synthetic or natural either, when defining them by related structures (i.e flavonols, anthocyanins etc.) is much more useful. Anyway, I look forward to hearing back from you and hope we can work together constructively on this. markwdck (talk) 23:35, 3 February 2013 (UTC)

Flavonoid
[edit]Hello, I think a flavanone is a type of flavonoid, and not the complete group of flavonoids. I'm not sure if icariin is a prenylflavonoid, even though it says, 'It is the prenyl acetylation'. You do seem to know about this, I just wanted to be sure. Lucy346 (talk) 23:13, 11 January 2013 (UTC)
- icariin has the flavanoid backbone and bears a prenyl group. Semantically it can be called a "prenylated flavonoid" or "prenylflavonoid". Or is there any restriction yo the usage of the word? Cheers --NotWith (talk) 08:07, 12 January 2013 (UTC)
- There are many classes of flavonoids, and it could be easy to group one in the wrong class. I just wanted to avoid making an assumption that both were the same, until I could see it in certainty. I can accept that prenylated flavonoids are connected by prenyl acetylation are the same. If another type of compound can be connected by this, it could cause an inaccuracy.
- List of phytochemicals in food looks accurate. I think the resources flavonoid and the template on that page are incomplete, causing an easy way to mis-associate categorizations. flavanone is its own group, and it doesn't encompass other types of flavonoids. It would be rather confusing for flavanone to have two overlapping meanings. That should be addressed. Lucy346 (talk) 11:21, 12 January 2013 (UTC)

[edit]Hi, NotWith. Just a couple quick notes on this edit to Beaver beetle. There should usually be two blank lines ("It is usually desirable to leave two blank lines between the first stub template and whatever precedes it.") before the stub templates. Also, while there's no recommendation to my knowledge about the number of spacing in section headings, I have noticed that there's a tendency for polished articles to use no spacing before and after the heading title. Microsporidian/plant disambiguation
[edit]I noticed you were working on disambiguating several genus names shared by a plant and a microsporidian. I think the disambiguatory term "(microsporidian)" (as you created for Nosema (microsporidian)) might be better than "(fungus)". Plants and fungi (as traditionally defined) are governed by the same code of nomenclature, and shouldn't share genus names. I assume that the microsporidian genera were named under the animal nomenclatural code, in which case a genus name shared with a plant would be permissible. Seeing "(fungus)" and "(plant)" as the disambiguating term makes me think there is a problem with one of the names (Romanoa is a case where there actually is a problem with a fungus name shared with a plant). There are other ambiregnal protists, where a group of organisms, or two closely related groups of organisms have genus names governed by both the plant/fungus and animal nomenclatural codes, and I think using "(microsporidian)" as the disambiguatory term would make the situation clearer here. Plantdrew (talk)
- And thank you for disambiguating between the plant/microsporidian genera in the first place. I don't mean to come across as too critical of your choice of parenthetical disambiguator; making the dab page for the genera was excellent work. Adding spaces
[edit]Hi, I note that when you edit an article, e.g. Narcissus (plant), you add spaces between the equals signs and text in section headings if they aren't there already. Now I generally do the reverse: if there are spaces there, then if I notice while editing the section I remove them. I'm not aware of any policy on this: is there one? Do you have a reason for adding spaces? Peter coxhead (talk) 13:24, 8 August 2013 (UTC)
- Hi. I don't know either about a policy on spaces in headings. I do this because of the "level 2 heading" button (big A button) in the old fashion editing tools, which adds spaces. Does it answer your question ? --NotWith (talk) 15:23, 8 August 2013 (UTC)

:Category:Flora of Metropolitan France
[edit]Hello, NotWith. Could you please hold off on implementing the remaining subdivisions within France for now? I don't see this as useful at all; in fact, I see it as quite harmful to category navigation as we should be following the World Geographical Scheme for Recording Plant Distributions for our flora category hierarchy scheme, not political subdivisions as fine as this. I've opened a discussion and I'd welcome your input here at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Plants#Category:Flora of Metropolitan France?. Erythroneura
[edit]When you created the Erythroneura page you listed the authority for the genus as Fitch, 1851. However, at BioLab it lists Erythroneura as Young, 1952, here. I have Fitch (1851) as Fitch, A. 1851, Catalogue with references and descriptions of the insects collected and arranged for the State Cabinet of Natural History. Ann. Rpt. State Cab. Natur. Hist. 4: 43-69. I have Young (1952) as Young, D.A. 1952, A reclassification of Western Hemisphere Typhlocybinae (Homoptera, Cicadellidae). Univ. Kansas Sci. Bull. 35(1:1): 3-217. Unfortunately, I do not have access to either. According to Barnes (Barnes, Jeffrey K. 1984, "Recently recognized types of some Homoptera described by Dr. Asa Fitch." Psyche 91(1/2): 133-140.) Fitch named an Erythroneura vulnerata in 1851 (specimen collected 1847). Do you know what claim Young might have and how to write the full authority statement? --Bejnar (talk) 09:27, 25 December 2013 (UTC)

Autopatrolled de-flagged
[edit]Hi. While you are doing excellent work on creating taxonomic entries, all Wikipedia articles, particularly those of a scientific nature, need to be adequately sourced. I have therefore removed the Autopatrolled feature from you account because your creations still need to be reviewed by patrollers. Please note that this is not a reflection on your participation in Wikipeia, and that apart from relieving patrollers of some of their work, Autopatrolled is not an award of merit. Categories for 'Orchids of <country>'
[edit]Hi, I see you're adding categories like 'Orchids of Ireland' to various species. However, many species occur in dozens of countries, so we could have a very large number of categories for widespread plants. Have you discussed this at WikiProject Plants?
