To add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia. The next time you upload a media file with false or missing copyright or source information, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. — Jeff G. ツ 03:58, 16 August 2011 (UTC) Speedy deletion nomination of Alberto Portugheis[edit]
A tag has been placed on Alberto Portugheis requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a clear copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing. If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here. If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. — Jeff G. ツ 15:50, 15 August 2011 (UTC) License tagging for File:Alberto Masterclass.jpg[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Alberto Masterclass.jpg. I want to have another go at sorting out the deleted page on Alberto Portugheis. Now I understand the issues, I have re -written they first sentence that caused problems. How do I appeal for the chance to re-do it. Site says contact deletion manager with no indication of how to do that. The photographs: One I wanted to use is old- the person who took it died 40 years ago according to Alberto Portugheis, who sent me the original. Would that be an extenuating circumstance to allow use? The photo by Ronald Stein has the consent of Ronald Stein, yet it was still deleted. What did I do wrong? Thanks.Normaprocter (talk) 13:04, 17 August 2011 (UTC)
- I assume you mean the page User:Normaprocter/Alberto Portugheis - you can move the page whenever you like, but then it's down to the other editors to see if it stay! I would suggest asking at WP:RFF - then you will get some idea if the article is suitable.
- If it's not your photo, then it's a minefield. Since he is alive then the "fair use" option is not allowed, as it is feasible to get a new photo. Therefore you have to look at WP:DCM, you need to get the photographer to donate the photograph to Wikipedia. The photo by the deceased photographer is not old enough, depends where (country) it was taken, but 70 years post death is typical to make it Public Domain - check WP:PD and Wikipedia:Non-US_copyrights.
- Hope that helps Ronhjones (Talk) 21:28, 17 August 2011 (UTC)
- By the way, I've taken a look at the article. It seems ok, but there are a few things that need fixing. First, Wikipedia articles usually have a "lead section" at the top that summarizes the article. There are some other stylistic things that should be fixed (for example, section titles mostly only need a capital letter at the beginning). If you want, I can help you with that. Norma, after writing it at the end of every edit's description (and thus looking extremely stupid), I have gathered that it is impossible to sign the description of an edit. I thought I'd let you know so you could stop putting Nullinfinity667 (talk) 21:57, 19 August 2011 (UTC) at the end as well. Maybe I'm wrong, but I certainly couldn't make it work. -Alex
- You don't need to sign the edit summary. Signing is mostly for talk pages. Brambleclawx 15:53, 22 August 2011 (UTC)
