Welcome!
[edit]Welcome to Wikipedia, Nora Editor! Thank you for your contributions. I am ToBeFree and I have been editing Wikipedia for some time, so if you have any questions, feel free to leave me a message on my talk page. You can also check out Wikipedia:Questions or type {{help me}}
at the bottom of this page. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:
- Introduction
- The five pillars of Wikipedia
- How to edit a page
- Help pages
- How to write a great article
- Discover what's going on in the Wikimedia community
Also, when you post on talk pages you should sign your name using four tildes (~~~~); that will automatically produce your username and the date. I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! ~ ToBeFree (talk) 18:07, 16 January 2020 (UTC)
Re: Help request
[edit]Hi Nora Editor, if I understand the situation correctly, you can safely ignore all previous messages, which I have now simply removed from this page. Thanks for asking and best regards! ~ ToBeFree (talk) 18:09, 16 January 2020 (UTC)
- To avoid any possible future misunderstandings, Nora, under almost all circumstances it is considered inappropriate to remove other editors' messages from a talk page, except for your own talk page, where you are free to remove messages after you have seen them. This may perhaps be one of the rare exceptions, but personally I think ToBeFree was mistaken in doing so, because I think if you haven't already done so you should see my previous message and perhaps more importantly Moonythedwarf's response to it, which accepts that it was a mistake. Actually seeing that someone has acknowedged a mistake is quite different from being told by a third party that you can ignore what that person originally said. For an experienced editor that would be no problem, as she or he would probably check the editing history and see the old messages, but a new editor might not know how to do that. You can see the old messages here: Special:PermanentLink/936071246. If you've already seen them, or if you simply don't care, just ignore this message. - @JBW and Nora Editor: Sorry, yes, this is correct. I had expected Moonythedwarf to correct their incorrect message, but as that didn't happen, I just decided to replace all the confusion and the help request by a proper welcome. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 20:00, 16 January 2020 (UTC)
- What the heck are you talking about? I did not create any pages, nor did I remove anybody's comments. This is just bizarre. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nora Editor (talk • contribs) 18:20, 17 January 2020 (UTC)
- You did not. He was saying that what User:ToBeFree did (remove comments) is normally not appropriate. --MoonyTheDwarf (Braden N.) (talk) 18:24, 17 January 2020 (UTC)
- Meh. The whole point of doing that was to create a fresh welcoming experience for someone who had continued to edit after probably having seen the removed messages. It's almost tempting to repeat exactly what I did. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 18:28, 17 January 2020 (UTC)
