As soon as I said I was going to spend less time on Wikipedia in the near future, I started getting "There have been multiple failed attempts to log in into your account from a new device" warnings pretty often, like every second day or so. Is there a way to IP check them, to see if they match any other registered user on Lithuanian wikipedia lt.wikipedia.org? I don't need to know the IP itself if that's considered private information, all I need to know is whether it's some other user trying to log in into my account, someone who regularly reads talk pages, which I find much more likely than all this being a sheer coincidence. --Nomad (talk) 20:23, 11 January 2021 (UTC)
- The functionaries working theory is that someone's database got cracked, and now they're brute-forcing all known password combinations. As long as your password is strong you should be fine (and if not, or you use it on another site, change it!), it's mostly just an annoyance. If you want more help, change the {{help me-helped}} back into a {{help me}}, stop by the Teahouse, or Wikipedia's live help channel, or the help desk to ask someone for assistance. - Oh so it's not only me who gets it in the last few days? In that case probably a coincidence. Thank you for your help! --Nomad (talk) 02:55, 12 January 2021 (UTC)
