Preliminary Review from Kaylea
[edit]Hi, I'm starting to walk through articles and give everyone informal early feedback on how they're doing. You'll notice this is a little bit form-letter-ish but I hope it is still helpful!
I see you've made some changes and are starting to incorporate elements from our training, but there's still a ways to go with this article. If you're feeling stuck, please let me know how I can support you.
One area to improve for this article is your use of sources and citations. Right now what I see is text being added without the sources to back it up. Because of the date, some of the info you want may live in books about basketball history (UW library has a lot of e-books, including sports history e-books). You might also find historical newspapers to be very useful for expanding this article -- maybe try Newsbank or Lexis Uni from https://guides.lib.uw.edu/az.php

feedback on progress
[edit]Hi @Noienoah:
I'm checking in on your progress -- what I see is that the article is still in need of more information and sourcing for the claims. I see that you've added links, but citations are needed, and an "encyclopedic" tone. This section: "The crowd in Milwaukee objected to the pick, loudly booing Erving when he was presented the trophy by league commissioner Larry O'Brien. The consensus was that West player Paul Westphal deserved the award." -- reads like an opinion; who really knows what the crowd meant by their boos and who they thought deserved the award? Probably there was some sports reporting about the event, and that's the way to present this information -- as an interpretation, maybe based on some post-event interviews, or ....? Keep working, adding new content and cited sources. Our goal is to move this article forward by one quality class. Check out https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2000_NBA_All-Star_Game for some ideas about types of content to include.

Go Live Approval
[edit]Hi @Noienoah:
You are heading in the right direction.
This article looks like it needs more work before it would receive full credit for this assignment, but you have approval to move it to live if you are ready. If you want to, you can move it to live and then continue to work. The goal is to advance the article by a quality class in ways that demonstrate engagement with the norms of Wikipedia. As a reminder, here are our go-live steps:
- Final read-through draft.
- Check live article for changes. [History Tab]
- Two browsers side by side, if you can. Source editing mode ("Code mode"), not visual editor.
- Paragraph by paragraph copy, leaving behind an explanatory edit summary after each chunk of changes.
- Note on article talk page.
- Note at the top of your sandbox version.
- Submit a link to your article on Canvas.
- Celebrate!
