some hints

[edit]

about the draft on Bekoff.

It's almost ready. The main problem is that you need to divide a extensive bibliography like this into sections It would be possible do do book written , books written (coauthor) . books edited; (what I myself would have done with it is not used the cite book templates, in order to list them with the title first, alphabetically, which is much easier to scan.) If some of these are books for young people, they could be listed separately also. Remember:

  • don't link a word or name except the first time it's used.
  • watch out for its vs. it's.
  • add dates for the various streets in his positions after 74
  • try to find something about parents and schooling
  • list his phd thesis title and advisor.
  • don't repeat the obvious, such as "he's a prolific writer"
  • The refs need a field for website=. or work=. to show what sort of place they are coming from,
  • The activism section does not need to say what the society does if it's linked or obvious.
  • And, since this going to be an impt article, try for a greater variety of sentence structure, and concise wording.

Thanks for suggestions. I will work on separating the bibliography section into something more manageable. I did attempt to have the title listed first, but apparently I need to find a different format. If you could suggest one that would be great!
  • I fixed the duplicate links.
  • I fixed the its versus it's misspellings.
  • I looked and couldn't find anything about specific job dates after he left the University of Missouri.
  • I searched all through Google scholar and couldn't find anything that specified his thesis.
  • I was unable to find his parents' names. He only ever references his mother as "mom" and never by name.
  • Removed the prolific writer phrase.
  • Could you provide an example for the website= and work= field. I'm not sure exactly what you mean by this.
  • Removed superfluous commentary of linked organizations.
  • I thought I was being too concise. Could you point to an example of this?

easiest way of explaining this may be to show you. As a prelim. note, Getting books in title sequence is best done by not using the templates, but writing them in normal bibliographic format at test. There are other ways, using named references and Harvard format, but this is the simplest. DGG ( talk ) 04:42, 7 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

BLP warning

[edit]

In diff at Suzane Northrop at 22:19, 21 February 2021 you added a short description that is totally inappropriate for Wikipedia. Understanding the WP:BLP policy is difficult for some people. The way to think about is that at a website where anyone can edit, every opponent of a living person can turn up and add negativity—that is not acceptable. Articles must distinguish between facts and opinions—see WP:VOICE. You are welcome to edit and add sourced and due material, but you will be blocked if there appears to be a pattern of using Wikipedia for statements of negativity. Questions can be asked at WP:Teahouse where they would give independent opinions on the advisability of that edit. Or, reply here if you want further explanations.
