[edit]Hi, I'm Serge, and Admin here on Wikipedia. You keep adding items to the "list of video game franchises" without a proper source. We need to be following WP:V, so to include an item on the list, you need a reliable source that directly refers to it as a franchise or series. A source that merely mention a single game doesn't cut it. It doesn't verify its inclusion on the list.
Please stop doing this. This is a basic, non-negotiable aspect of Wikipedia. If you continue to violate this, you're going to find yourself locked out of editing the article. All you have to do is just use sources that actually call it a franchise or series. Thanks. Sergecross73 msg me 16:43, 20 December 2023 (UTC)
- the thing is literally everyone knows Nioh is a series. Everyone knows destiny or overwatch is a series because everyone knows that. These entries do belong here, and instead of deleting them and acting as if they don’t, maybe link and find the sources that you think are suitable enough. Actually make it what you wanna be I don’t care just don’t revert my edits and tell me they aren’t suitable and just leave it at that NoHeffThing (talk) 16:50, 20 December 2023 (UTC)
- If "everyone knows it", then it should be very easy for you to find a source that actually call it a series/franchise. The sources you keep providing don't serve an actual purpose. Your edits will continue to be reverted for as long as you provide sources that don't actually verify that it's a series. Regarding this inappropriate edit summary, read WP:BURDEN - it is your burden to fix your mistakes, not mine. Sergecross73 msg me 18:37, 20 December 2023 (UTC)

- Not much of a counterpoint. Can you even explain why you're adding the sources you add? Seriously, from your point of view, what is the purpose of hunting down these random reviews and adding them as sources to every entry you add to the list? I understand you see it as obvious that each entry is a video game series. But I don't understand what you think the sources you keep adding are functionally doing. Sergecross73 msg me 03:05, 21 December 2023 (UTC)
- I mean would you much rather me not add in any sources at all? If your problem with my entries are just the sources you could’ve just deleted those sources? Keep those entries there but remove the sources, it’s less work than outright deleting the whole entry NoHeffThing (talk) 10:36, 21 December 2023 (UTC)
- Like I said, it is your responsibility to fix your mistakes, not mine. It's not like I'm undoing that much work. All you did is list off some game names and add sources that in no way belong in the article. Adding sources that don't verify anything are just as bad as not adding a source at all. You still haven't answered my question. What would be the purpose of adding a source that doesn't verify anything? Do you understand the purpose of sourcing?

- The answer isn't just removing sources that dont verify anything. It's finding sources that actually verify the information. This is how the entirety of Wikipedia works. You're never going to get your edits to stick anywhere if you dont change your ways. I'm merely the first person to catch you doing this. Anyone would do the same if they noticed what you were doing. - What even constitutes as a source that calls a group of related games a series? I’ve seen many entries with sources that simply source a review of a singular game. They didnt seem to have any trouble having their edits not be deleted entirely NoHeffThing (talk) 15:19, 21 December 2023 (UTC)
- All you have to do is find a source that actually calls it a series. It took me like 10 seconds to search Google and find a source that calls Nioh a series. https://screenrant.com/nioh-2-last-game-says-developer/ - simple as that. WP:VG/S has an extensive list of examples of usable and unusable websites.
- Finding other poorly sourced entries doesn't justify adding more, it means those should be removed or given a new source too. Sergecross73 msg me 15:54, 21 December 2023 (UTC)
- Ah so you found a source. Might as well add it NoHeffThing (talk) 02:59, 23 December 2023 (UTC)
- I already did. Please make sure the rest of your entries follow this example. Thanks. Sergecross73 msg me 15:10, 23 December 2023 (UTC)

Partial block
[edit]For repeated verification failures, despite repeated warnings, you are blocked from the List of video game franchises. You may still use the WP:EDITREQUEST system to suggest additions on the article talk page, and other editors can review your suggestions and add them on your behalf if they're found to be properly sourced. Thanks. Sergecross73 msg me 17:20, 18 April 2024 (UTC)
- What the fuxk????? NoHeffThing (talk) 17:25, 18 April 2024 (UTC)
- You added a ton of entries to the list with sources that absolutely do not verify that they are a series or franchise. We can look at a few if you want. For example, this one for Operation Flashpoint. Please direct quote the part of that source that calls it a franchise/series. Sergecross73 msg me 17:41, 18 April 2024 (UTC)
