Nmp8 (talk) 17:07, 19 July 2011 (UTC)this is a highly significant submission. since the housing crash high yield spreads widened from under 300 bps to over 2000 bps...not only have individuals been shut off from loans but so have businesses...the hardest hit were middle market and small businesses. Small businesses sought funding from the government while large businesses were able to cajole investors who sought alternatives yielding more than the artificially (by the fed) low level of treasuries. Middle market companies were completely shut out. Middle market companies are the transition between mom and pop companies and large corporations and essentially companies that go from employing a hundred people to employing thousands. Debtquity is the product that has emerged that has allowed these companies to seek growth financing in an otherwise inhospitable environment. Without these issues the jobs picture and unemployment stats would be far far worse. I believe that this is significant. If TARP and TALF can be significant and they did nothing but name a massive investment or provision of leverage (two concepts that already readily existed) then debtquity quite obviously must be allowed. In the industry we have already been using this term. It is about time it was recognized.
