question and tenuous offer

[edit]

Hi Nlu,

  • Hope things are going well. The first draft of my dissertation is done; I sent it to my uni weeks ago. I now have relatively more free time :-).
  • Question: Do you have any idea what this is?
  • Tenuous offer: Ah, I am not doing enough article work these days! One day or other—unfortunately, I dunno if it could be right now—I would really enjoy collaborating with you on an article. Drop me a line if the opportunity ever arises.
  • later! Ling.Nut (talkWP:3IAR) 08:11, 12 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Got the character (and posted on your talk page). Congratulations about finishing the draft dissertation — it's a big step. Looking forward to seeing you back here more often. --Nlu (talk) 13:23, 12 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

DYK nom for Li Sheng

[edit]

DYK expects to see an inline citation for the fact in your hook, so I could not approve the hook. It looks like you're using an inline citation for the group of sentences instead of on the exact sentence. You should duplicate the citation for the fact (even if you normally don't) and respond on the suggestions page. No need to respond to me - it'll probably be too late by the time I read it. Royalbroil 03:30, 17 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Someone else reviewed the hook and approved it while I was leaving you a message. So I guess you're good. Royalbroil 03:32, 17 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

hanpu article

[edit]

the whole article was fiction created by korean nationalists, whose theories were blown to bits on the jin dynasty talk page. please remove it before i get blocked for no reason. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 141.155.151.117 (talk) 03:04, 23 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

see jin dynasty for the whole propaganda nationalist campaign by the koreans. and then read hanpu again and decide if it belongs on wikipedia...

Unfortunately, Jin Dynasty (the Jurchen one, not the earlier one following Three Kingdoms) is really out of my area of expertise for me to be able to judge it. --Nlu (talk) 04:03, 23 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

yeah but the hanpu article is totally unsourced, and read the wikisource, the translation doesnt even support the korean claim that he is descended from silla royals! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 162.84.136.126 (talk) 19:59, 25 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Then I'd suggest filing a RFC. Hopefully it will bring in some outside editors. --Nlu (talk) 00:35, 26 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

yo consoleman just attacked me on jin dynasty talk page, making up a totally false claim that i said all teritories within modern day china are chinese. ii removed his comment.

seeing how these korean nationalists behave on wikipedia, we must concentrate on moving all information to classical chinese wiki and the others. i dont think any chines ifnormation relating to korea will survive without thousands of korean troll editors making changes. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.160.244.229 (talk) 03:21, 26 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

its also unbelevible how many non japanese people try to push a japanese POV on other articles just because they like anime and manga. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.160.244.229 (talk) 03:22, 26 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Middle Chinese

[edit]

where the hell did you learn middle chinese? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.160.244.229 (talk) 03:29, 26 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Xuantu Commandery is repeatedly being blankted, with its references, by a korean vandal, who then puts an unreferenced tag up, i think a blocking is in order —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.160.244.229 (talkcontribs)

I disagree with your actions there; the text that you had, if it belonged in an article at all, should be in its own article, rather than part of the Xuantu Commandery article since it's not about Xuantu Commandery, strictly. (And basically, I learned to read Wenyan by, well, reading it. As a history major, I'm accustomed to reading texts and picking up the contexts therein, so it wasn't particularly difficult to pick up. Reading the Bo Yang Edition of the Zizhi Tongjian and the original text gave me plenty of practice, I think.) --Nlu (talk) 04:25, 26 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

classical chinese wikipedia

[edit]

i see that it says it focuses mainly on han dynasty related articles. are we allowed to put anything chinese related on there? and if unicode comes out with seal script can you petition to use seal script on it? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 162.83.177.164 (talk) 15:51, 26 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

and dont you think Suzhou numerals are more of the chinese equivalent of arabic numerals than writing it out.? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 162.83.177.164 (talk) 16:00, 26 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I think that Wikipedia needs to have a unified standard on this -- and standard American (at least) style is that numbers less than 10 are written out while 10 or larger are put in Arabic numbers... But I am not sure what you mean by "seal script." --Nlu (talk) 16:06, 26 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

see zhuan its called seal script in english because its used on seals

no see seal script

I would not support it. I can't see Unicode supporting what would effectively be a specific font, and even if it does, I think it creates too much technical problems on computers that might, as it stands, provide very tentative CJK support anyway. --Nlu (talk) 17:21, 26 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

is there a reason why manchu scripts turns up as a bunch of boxes on my screen?

Creating new wikipedias

[edit]

where do you file a request to create a new wikipedia? i want to suggest a xiang wikipedia in zhuyin, but they might get pissed off since there are like 8 chinese wikipedias up already. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 162.83.177.164 (talk) 19:59, 26 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

my rfc template on hanpu was removed. can you at least leave a warning on the talk page about screwing with the tamplates? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 162.83.177.164 (talk) 20:04, 26 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It wasn't removed; it wasn't done properly. I'll try to fix it. Meanwhile, your computer might not support Manchu script. --Nlu (talk) 20:30, 26 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

manufacturing false claims, original research, and soapboxing are all against wiki rules, it appears they are not allowed to be on talk pages, yet amateurs who want to increase their edit counts constantly revert and allow soapboxing and original research to reaapear on the jurchen jin dynasty talk page

the section about koreans invading china is original research and soapboxing, so its against wiki rules and should be deleted, yet the people so desperate to increase their edits counts keep reverting —Preceding unsigned comment added by 141.155.145.71 (talk) 00:33, 27 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
