[edit]Can my user page be unblocked now. I think it is only fair, since I myself am no longer blocked.
64.107.3.104
[edit]You removed this user from the vandal list stating that it was a content dispute, however, I was trying to point out that the user is still editing, but as 66.99.3.172 now while blocked under the other IP. The proof of this can be found through the content dispute. Both IP's have made the exact same revert to the Yasser Arafat article which can be seen by looking at these: [1] and [2]. Hope this clears that up --Strothra 22:50, 18 November 2006 (UTC)
- OK, thanks. I've semi-protected Yasser Arafat. What other article(s) is the person editing? --Nlu (talk) 22:58, 18 November 2006 (UTC)
- Great! Thanks. The Katyn massacre is the only other article I see that he's editing regularly and that was the article he was blocked for reverting. --Strothra 23:02, 18 November 2006 (UTC)
- I don't think the situation there is as bad, so I'm not going to protect it at the moment, but let me know if the situation heats up again. --Nlu (talk) 23:07, 18 November 2006 (UTC)
- Will do. Can you semi protect my user page temporarily as well? He was vandalizing that also. --Strothra 23:12, 18 November 2006 (UTC)
- Done. Let me know when you feel comfortable unprotecting it. (Eventually, if I don't, another admin will unprotect it after some time elapses.) --Nlu (talk) 23:20, 18 November 2006 (UTC)
- This guy is at it again. I'm beginning to find it comical because I'm imagining him switching computers at the public library in order to engage in a Wiki edit war. Anyway, he's carved out the Scott Joplin and the Classic Rag as his territory and is fighting people who remove his additions. He's made comments such as "i am here to stay" and "FINAL WARNING TO STOP REMOVING THIS LINK, DO YOU UNDERSTAND, I WILL REVERT IT AS LONG AS IT TAKES!" in his edit histories. Could you semi protect these two articles for a while? --Strothra 20:08, 28 November 2006 (UTC)
- Done. Thanks for your diligence. --Nlu (talk) 20:57, 28 November 2006 (UTC)
- You want to check the Talk:Yasser Arafat page? He keeps removing the unsigned tags as a deliberate attempt to edit war. It's annoying to continuously replace them. I don't want to ask you to protect the talk page. I don't know what the proper procedure is. --Strothra 01:16, 1 December 2006 (UTC)
- I agree that the page probably should not be semi-protected, but without doing it, there really isn't anything to do. --Nlu (talk) 02:13, 1 December 2006 (UTC)
- I agree. He's finally signing his own comments now though. Progress, maybe? If he'd just register... --Strothra 02:16, 1 December 2006 (UTC)

Hi, sorry to bother you on your semi-wikibreak, but can you move the Wuqiu Jian page to Guanqiu Jian? Someone did the merge the wrong way around and I can't move it myself due to the Guanqiu Jian page's history. I figured this small issue doesn't warrant the processes of WP:RM. Thanks! _dk 03:36, 19 November 2006 (UTC)

Arafat
[edit]NLU, why are you an administrator? http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Yasser_Arafat&diff=88693006&oldid=88691470
As you can see, information was correct, I simply added information about his death and the link to it, nothing more, nothing less, correct death certificate and possibility of birth in Jerusalem, is that vandalism, or is that only a try to make wikipedia more accurate that never was or is nor will be>? So, how do we solve this? It should have been by now.
www.britannica.com/nobel/micro/30_1.html
You need to cut wiki ignorance and put a lik to a possible birth location www.smh.com.au/news/Middle-East-Conflict/French-death-certificate-says-Arafat-born-in-Jerusalem/2004/11/16/1100384506132.html
he died there, so for now and i think forever, the death certificate will say he was born in jerusalem. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.99.3.246 (talk • contribs)
- Protection of the article is not an endorsement of the current version. It's an indication, however, that your edit warring is unacceptable. Cut it out. --Nlu (talk) 23:13, 20 November 2006 (UTC)
- I suggest that you semi-project your user talk & user page while you are gone... these IPs are getting annoying... Cbrown1023 00:52, 21 November 2006 (UTC)

Hi, i don't consider the links to Pyrenees Guide and Pyrenees Tourism as inappropriate external links. Pyrenes Guide was long time ago in the Wikipedia Pyrenees page, and includes more than 1000 articles about the Pyrenees culture, villages, people, events, walking routes etc...
Regarding Pyrenees Tourism, includes a guide, maps, forum, ski resorts, spas, a directory... and everything to help the person that is interested in the Pyrenees.
They are not spam websites, i think they are good information resources about the Pyrenees Mountains and that is why i included them as external links. Sorry for my English. Regards —Preceding unsigned comment added by 212.97.188.162 (talk • contribs)
- I disagree, but you are free to make your case on why it should be included at Talk:Pyrenees. --Nlu (talk) 12:12, 22 November 2006 (UTC)
- I have started, thanks —Preceding unsigned comment added by 212.97.188.162 (talk • contribs)
- Hi, the 2 links that you have removed (Pyrenees Guide and Pyrenees Tourism) are 2 of the most popular websites (type pyrenees in google) for information about the pyrenees mountains, they offer free accurate information in English. I don't understand why they are considered spam, but a site about trekking holidays (that is now as external link) is not. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 212.97.188.162 (talk • contribs)
- That there are other spam links is not a reason to include even more spam links -- and that is a reason why I added the {{cleanup-spam}} tag. --Nlu (talk) 11:13, 23 November 2006 (UTC)

AIV
[edit]Thanks for the block. If it makes any difference to hear this from a member of the hoi polloi, it's nice to see an admin placing a suitable block on a repetitive anon vandal. Too often it seems that repeat anon vandals are blocked again and again for xx hours, only to do more damage. Your choice of blocking only anon activity through that IP seems to this humble user to be so obviously the correct course of action, that I do wonder whether some admins remember it exists. --Dweller 10:19, 24 November 2006 (UTC)
- Well, the option is prominently on the blocking page (which I realize you can't access), so I think they know it. :-) Thanks for your diligence. --Nlu (talk) 10:20, 24 November 2006 (UTC)
- On a separate subject, I'm worried about breaking 3RR, so please could you review the partial blanking that just took place at Ricky Fante? Thanks --Dweller 10:22, 24 November 2006 (UTC)
- Possibly just the person being new, but I reverted and added a {{test2a-n}}. Reverting vandalism is not considered a 3RR violation, so feel free to do it. --Nlu (talk) 10:30, 24 November 2006 (UTC)

Ah, thanks. Nice template, btw. What does the "tl" bit do? --Dweller 11:17, 24 November 2006 (UTC)
- The tl part (and I admit I don't understand how it works) makes it a link to the template, rather than a transclusion of the template. --Nlu (talk) 20:31, 24 November 2006 (UTC)
Sorry For The False Report
[edit]Error on my part. Didn't fully understand what's okay/not okay on user/talk pages. I'll try not to make that mistake again. -WarthogDemon 06:04, 25 November 2006 (UTC)
- Well, I don't think you made a "false report" -- and I share your dislike for placing those spam links there -- but I just can't find a regulation to ban it either. --Nlu (talk) 06:07, 25 November 2006 (UTC)
This ongoing editing with Eminem, 50 Cent, G-Unit, and The Game
[edit]It's getting really tiring with this nonsense on Wikipedia. I thought it was fun to edit articles and make them reliable. But the more and more I look at this, I am seeing nothing but garbage. I guess this is a popular site (just like MySpace, You Tube and blogs). It's a shame. I am looking at the G-Unit article and saw all the spamming, I did a major clean up and shortened it down. Take a look. This is the article is now and originally how it was. Thanks for helping out Wikipedia. Once again LILVOKA 17:42, 25 November 2006 (UTC)
- I like it, although I must say that I have no clue about what's correct and what's not since I don't follow the genre. :-) :-( Thanks. --Nlu (talk) 18:20, 25 November 2006 (UTC)
Norteños
[edit]I'm sorry but how did I vandalize the Norteños page? Most of the information that was originally on there remained, but a few adjustments were made for accuracy. I didn't outright delete a giant chunk of text or add anything hateful. It seems that the "old" information would have held true ten years ago, but things have changed dramatically since then. All of the photos are the work of either me or my friend, so how does the GFDL not cover that? My friend told me that it was ok to use them for wikipedia only so I did. Maybe it's because I am new, but I don't want to get banned for updating foggy inaccuaracies from 1997 or whenever the old page held completely true. If you can take the adjustments I have made and put them into a more "legal" wiki-format or whatever then please do, just keep in mind that the adjustments and pictures are there for a more precise description of what's really going on. I have links to prove everything said on there, go ahead and hit up my page if you want to go over this the right way because there is no need to ban over a misunderstanding. -1OLB4, 25 November 2006
- First of all, information has to be verifiable; just because something might be true (and as a defense attorney, I know that some of what you wrote is true) doesn't make it includable under Wikipedia's guidelines. Second, the pictures should be formatted properly, and should not be excessively large, should have proper licensing information, and should be properly labelled. Third, the text that you had was simply not encyclopedic in tone. I was forced to warn you because you appeared to have no regard whatsoever for the collaborative nature of Wikipedia as well as for Wikipedia's guidelines. If you will abide by Wikipedia's guidelines, you are more than welcome to contribute. Discuss your changes on Talk:Norteños, not on my talk page or yours. --Nlu (talk) 20:24, 25 November 2006 (UTC)
"Content dispute"?!
[edit]How is linking a biography page to pedophilia a content dispute? Not just once but repeatedly, I really don't care if he links to pedophilia (an attraction to prepubescent or peripubescent children) if it's a legit link, this is not a legit edit and per WP:BLP should be removed. Not mentioning the ongoing personal attacks including his recent creation of Cockshiner, redirecting it to another biography page... Needless to say, I hope you're going to continue monitoring this user for more "Cockshiners". —B33R Talk • Contribs 19:13, 25 November 2006 (UTC)
- You might also want to remove the "He also likes younger woman," part from Jerry Seinfeld's article as it is in the "Interests" section. Dating a 17-year-old for four years does not make him a pedophile or mean that he has an "interest in younger women" which is essentially what the article now says.
- I would remove it myself but I'd rather not be accused of instigating a "content dispute" or anything else. I'm trying to do the right thing by WP:BLP and Wikipedia, as always. —B33R Talk • Contribs 19:24, 25 November 2006 (UTC)
- Whatever it is, it's not the proper province of WP:AIV. WP:RFC is probably more appropriate. --Nlu (talk) 20:25, 25 November 2006 (UTC)
User:Strothra Vandal Warning
[edit]NLO, I had problems with this guy for months, this guy has 10 different accounts, accusing me of vandalizing arafat and katyn, when in fact i was the one who added the links in regards to Katyn deaths and orders, which are very useful, is that vandalism? Now, as far as Yasser Arafat goes, all i ever watned (and the link was credible, go on talk page) was to include a footnote to the death certificate and birth of Arafat in the first paragraph, there is a mention of that at the end, but I already explained that, besides there are no sources to validate those statements, i was simply trying to provide sources and references, vandal strothra has been reversing it, so i lost my cool towards him, hopefully you will smart up and see it my way. I also did not vandalize his page, except warning him on his talk page to stop doing what he is doing, nothing more and nothing less. OK, I believe i did nothing wrong and all of you took it the wrong way, war edits? If that is what you call it fine, but I call it creating the article right. So, do not block me or arafat page. If you look at the above link I provided, this dude deleted, tons of important information. If you do not know middle eastern history, tell me who does? And its also possible the above person got me mixed up with somebody else. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.107.1.251 (talk • contribs)
- Edit warring, no matter what, is unacceptable, particularly jumping from IP to IP (or user name to user name) to achieve it. If there is a content dispute, the proper way to try to resolve it is to broaden the base of discussion by filing an WP:RFC. --Nlu (talk) 22:42, 25 November 2006 (UTC)
Recently this user vandalized the Jaden Yuki page, and when warned against vandalism he went a step further and vandalized Benten's own user page. I'd like to request he be temporarily blocked. Drake
- I don't think a block is warranted yet. If and when the user vandalizes more, you can let me know, but for faster action, WP:AIV is probably better. Thanks for your diligence. --Nlu (talk) 22:43, 25 November 2006 (UTC)

Romance of the Three Kingdoms Chinese biographical articles
[edit]I just recently learned about the whole situation with certain Chinese biographical articles possibly being fictional / sourced from a work of fiction. Problem is, I learned about this right after creating a new stub type for Chinese military personnel. Thankfully, I've been able to find legitimate (I hope) Chinese military biographies to fill this category. That leaves the question, however, of what to do with these articles.
Not being incredibly knowledgeable about Chinese history, military or otherwise, I noticed your comments and wondered if you'd be able to help. Are the subjects of the articles indeed real people? If so, were they notably active in the military? Knowing this would help me know if I need to sort them as Chinese military personnel or as fictional characters. Right now they're just sitting there.
Thanks in advance for your time. Crystallina 05:13, 28 November 2006 (UTC)
- Some are and some are not. Unfortunately, there is no good comprehensive English language source I am aware of, and I tagged a lot of these articles but had to leave them as such since I am working on another era right now (and Three Kingdoms isn't my favorite era anyway). If you know Chinese at all, the Sanguo Zhi would provide a fairly good list of people who are not fictional. I have never read the Romance of the Three Kingdoms through (and I don't plan to), but the work is fictional and highly historically inaccurate. --Nlu (talk) 05:38, 28 November 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for the quick response. Sadly, I don't know Chinese. Just wondering if you could be of any use since I noticed you brought it up in April; since you're working on another era right now it's understandable. For now I'll leave them as they are. Crystallina 05:54, 28 November 2006 (UTC)
Job for a cowboy
[edit]Hi. I'm something of a noob to Wikipedia. No idea if I'm doing this right or not. If I'm way off base with this just delete it and forget about it. I noticed that the page for the band "Job For a Cowboy" is deleted and protected from re-creation. I think you're the one who did it, but I honestly don't know. Just curious about why. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Quinibus (talk • contribs)
- The article was deleted by consensus. Unless a deletion review leads to a consensus to restoring it, it should not be restored. --Nlu (talk) 01:51, 30 November 2006 (UTC)
References
[edit]Howdy! I ran across the article Empress Zhang Yao'er, which you wrote, on Special:Newpages. I'd submitted it for featuring on the Main Page as part of Did you know, but an objection was made since the article doesn't cite its sources. Could you add where you found the information to a separate "References" section at the bottom of the article? While ideally they'd be reputable English sources, non-English sources are perfectly acceptable, and any are better than none – if only to prove that the article didn't spring out of your imagination. If you're unsure on how to add citations, feel free to drop me a line and I'll do my best to help you out. GeeJo (t)⁄(c) • 01:35, 30 November 2006 (UTC)

Commenting on the removal
[edit]You don't seem to have looked into the matter properly when removing User:Jaakko Sivonen from the list without any measures taken [3]. The reporting was made due to his recent vandalism [4] (for which he had been blocked for before [5]), not the content dispute. The reporting was also for his very impolite behaviour towards other users [6] (violation agains WP:PA). He is writing partly in Finnish to avoid being detected, but he is very rude and uses a foul and insulting language. --MoRsE 10:09, 2 December 2006 (UTC)
- I looked. It may be vandalism, but it's not, in my judgment, the type of vandalism to be dealt with at WP:AIV since this is really a matter of behavior. Again, I suggest taking it to WP:RFC or WP:RFAr instead. --Nlu (talk) 10:11, 2 December 2006 (UTC)
