==Cleanup taskforce== (Not taking up any new tasks)
Per your request Marathi language has been assigned to your desk. RJFJR 05:36, 12 February 2006 (UTC)
I also put Simhavisnu on your desk. I'm not sure what it needs and what can be done. I'm hoping you can determine what more needs to be done befroe it is closed. Thank you. RJFJR 05:45, 12 February 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for the assignment. I will look into both of these. Nivus 04:23, 13 February 2006 (UTC)
I closed Simhavisnu and added Wheel of time to your desk. Thank you for working on Simhavisnu. RJFJR 15:13, 15 February 2006 (UTC)
- I have removed Wheel of time from my desk. Please refer to the talk page for more information. Nivus 09:23, 17 February 2006 (UTC)
- Hi. I noticed you moved Wheel of time back to unassigned. I also noticed that there's been some editing activity going on and the artcile is now much shorter. Can you tell me the status of the article? Is it ready to have the cleanup taskforce entry closed or does it need a different kind of work? By the way, when you make notes on a talk page please sign your comment with ~~~~ so people know who wrote which comment. RJFJR 00:17, 20 February 2006 (UTC)
- Hi there. You need to read the discussion in the talk page of Wheel of time. I have made only one note on that talk page and i have signed it. The discussion is actually between Geir Smith and Loom91. One of these guys have forgotten to sign their note. I think the original content of Wheel of time has been moved to the subpage Old Content for the author (in this case Geir Smith) to rework on it to bring out a NPOV content. From the last note you can see that future content should be introduced into Kalachakra. Under such circumstances I believe that cleanup taskforce entry can be closed unless you think otheriwse. Nivus 04:38, 20 February 2006 (UTC)
- Thanbk you for clarifying. Sorry, That talk page is such a mass of unsigned posts I can't tell who's talking. RJFJR 15:03, 20 February 2006 (UTC)
- To avoid confusion, I will not move the task out rather I will just put in a note so you can make a decision on the next action to be taken. Nivus|(talk)|(desk) 09:35, 21 February 2006 (UTC)
I'm closing it and will see what else needs to be worked on. I changed the template on the talk page from reqimage to reqphoto (there has been a change in technique and reqimage has been split into reqphoto, reqdiagram and reqmap).RJFJR 17:12, 2 March 2006 (UTC)
- I added County jail to your desk. RJFJR 17:22, 2 March 2006 (UTC)

Thank you
[edit]Thank you for your welcome message. In fact, I am not totally new to Wiki, I have an account on the french WikiPedia and I am currently setting up an internal Wiki.
I am actually having a hard time with creating a UserBox system. I have found many links explaining how to use them but not a lot regarding setting up such system. Feel free to drop me a line if you I have pointer, hints, or experience with this.
Also, I am totally new to Wiki localization. I have recently worked on the "Kite" topic in the french Wiki and I figured out the english topic also contains some interesting informations. The part thing is: both are great but each one misses some infos from the other... This is also partly why I created an account here.

Insulting behaviour by User Nohat
[edit]I have asked a simple question to one user Nohat at this page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:List_of_English_words_of_Tamil_origin What is your level of knowledge regarding Dravidian Languages.
He terms this as "a stupid question" (Nohat 04:52, 14 March 2006 (UTC)
My request to other administrators is to kindly tell whether the above question is vandalism. How can some one term my question as "stupid". Does an administrator in Wikipedia automatically gets rights to call others by insulting terms and also brand a question asking for academic credentials ("level of knowledge regarding Dravidian Languages") as "stupid"
To whom should we report this. What is Wikipedia and other admins going to do for such high handed behaviour. What is the solution for this.Doctor Bruno 11:44, 15 March 2006 (UTC)
- (I apologise for answering a question in Nivus' talk page.) DoctorBruno, the said behaviour is not vandalism, but is borderline personal attack. Sometimes, it's better to leave small incidents assuming good faith. But, if the said user persists with this kind of insults, you can request for administrator action at WP:RAA. -- Sundar \talk \contribs 11:51, 15 March 2006 (UTC)
- I have read the talk page and I agree to a certain extent to the users Nohat and Hraefen. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia where the facts should be citable and when it comes to the origin of words, people seem to take it personal when they think the origin of words is otherwise but at the same time the attitude of both these users looks like as mentioned before as personal attack. It is always recommended to leave such sensitive issues alone unless you are provoked further Nivus|(talk)|(desk) 12:12, 15 March 2006 (UTC)
Thanks for the kind words. I understand it better now.
About Editing
[edit]May I suggest that you add few more details, especially the ones regarding education. In portals like this, people will be ready to add the facts when you have the back bone ready. For example, when there is a mention of the Engineering college (with serial number) in the Main Page (tirunelveli) with no further description, a present or past student may write few words. On the other hand, in the present format, it is liable to be like this for a longer time. What is your opinionDoctor Bruno 19:19, 15 March 2006 (UTC)
Thanks for the welcome message
[edit]Hello, and thanks for the welcome message. I've signed up at last so that my edits (mostly minor fixes/wikification) don't go anonymous anymore. -- X-Man 12:09, 16 March 2006 (UTC)
Looks fine to me. I was surprised the 'TOC' tag was necessary; I had thought it was automatically generated. I like the 'tip of the day' box on your page. Best, Tom Harrison Talk 13:46, 23 March 2006 (UTC)
Image Town and Country
[edit]Forgive me if I'm wrong bu isn't this the tag: http://images.consumerguide.com/autoreview/400x266/1996-2000-Chrysler-TownandCountry-? Bavaria 13:21, 8 April 2006 (UTC)
- I'm very confused. Yes I got the tag mixed up. It should be http://auto.consumerguide.com/images/autoreview/400x266/1996-2000-Chrysler-TownandCountry-? All the images I've uploded are promotional images of their manufacturor. For example the Town and Country is of the Chrysler Corp. Again I'm still confused because I've looked at images responsible others have uploded and they look the same as mine. Please help me with what I need to do. Bavaria 11:27, 10 April 2006 (UTC)
- All my images are from: http://images.consumerguide.com/autoreview/400x266/1996-2000-Chrysler-TownandCountry-? should be from: http://auto.consumerguide.com/images/autoreview/400x266/1996-2000-Chrysler-TownandCountry- I'm working on fixing that. Bavaria 11:30, 10 April 2006 (UTC)
- So would the Chrysler Corp. be a tag for example the Town and Country images? Bavaria 23:37, 10 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit]Hi. I was a little confused about Image:Startegy.jpg. That image was deleted yesterday because it was orphaned (the page it was on was deleted). Now you've restored it? I think maybe your AutoWikiBrowser got a little crazy. :) —Wknight94 (talk) 10:52, 11 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit]Hi, I saw you posted a comment the other day on my talk page... And I wanted to say that I've added the source and stuff. I just wanted to ask one thing... The site itself says "All Rights Reserved", but if I place the link and refer to the site, is it o.k. then? -- Luigi-ish 09:36, 13 April 2006 (UTC)
- So... the picture is allowed to stay? -- Luigi-ish 13:47, 15 April 2006 (UTC)

Blocking user:Prerna astrogirl
[edit]Can we block this user? S/he continually uploads copyrighted images of tennis players without any tags, despite being warned many times. Thanks. Stanley011 18:30, 16 April 2006 (UTC)
Image copyright problem with Image:LambHouseInterior.jpg
[edit]This image was a scan that I created myself from a photograph taken in the late 1800s. I can't believe there would be any copyright problems with a scan of such an old photo. Casey Abell 12:40, 17 April 2006 (UTC)
- I added the PD-Old tag to the image.Casey Abell 12:12, 18 April 2006 (UTC)
Images
[edit]I know for certain that Consumer Guide only uses promotional images. All consumer oriented automotile testing orginazations do.
- I have provided the full sources for the images in question and provided appropriate tags, just to let you know.--ApolloBoy 06:45, 22 April 2006 (UTC)
Image Copyright Issues
[edit]I have no idea how I can provide copyright information which will satisfy the requirements of Wikipedia on a photograph which I have taken myself - it is all too complicated for me to understand so I won't bother about any more images thanks. Dave 06:47, 20 April 2006 (UTC)
I guess you didn't read the existing text when you made this edit? Take care! pfctdayelise (translate?) 07:57, 23 April 2006 (UTC)
- Indeed there should be an email or some similar correspondence to support the claim, but I rather think the best approach would have been to write a note to that effect on the uploader's talk page rather than tagging it as "unlicensed" (not true) and giving the uploader the generic message which in this case didn't apply. Just because there's a template for everything doesn't mean you can't still write out a personal message when appropriate (I find it's a lot faster than finding the applicable template ;P). pfctdayelise (translate?) 09:37, 24 April 2006 (UTC)
- Geez, I dunno, put their talk page on your watchlist. Check after a couple of days and if they've made other edits and ignored your message, tag it then. The automated approach is fine for a good many images, just be prepared to be flexible with it. Otherwise you are doing a disservice to good-faith editors. cheers, pfctdayelise (translate?) 10:44, 24 April 2006 (UTC)
Orphan fair use
[edit]Hi, I noticed you have tagged some images with {{GFDL-presumed}} and then {{or-fu}}, please don't tag non-fair use images as orphanded fair use. That speedy deletion criterea only apply to fair use images (because they are not fair use when not used), GFDL or free licensed images should not be speedily deleted just for beeing orphans. If you want to get rid of a non-fair use image (orphanded or otherwise) please just list it on WP:IFD instead, sure they almost always will be delted that way too, but it's best to do these things "by the book" most of the time to avoid the ocational loud complains about "out of process" deletions and stuff. Thanks. --Sherool (talk) 10:03, 27 April 2006 (UTC)
Aren't flags uncopyrightable?
[edit]I uploaded images of two flags of the PPF, a French fascist party of the 1930s and 40s. I believe that no extant copyrights apply to these images.
Adam Holland 15:56, 27 April 2006 (UTC)
I'll redo the uploads and post the links in this space. I may not get around to this for a few days. Do I need to revise the pages linked to the image pages as well?

Belated hello, and need help on libellous article
[edit]hi nivus, thanks for welcoming me to wikipedia a few months ago.
i just discovered a potentially libellous WP:BLP article, and while i gave it a quick edit to cut the worst of it, it still contains a one-sided, not well-researched account of two persons suing each other, and i think it ought to come down but don't know who to contact about it, so i'm asking you what to do. it's the John Malm, Jr. article (former manager of Nine Inch Nails. does a wikipedian just delete an article they believe to be libellous, or does this go through an administrator? i have no time to take on research and major editing for this article, unfortunately. thank you very much.
