Amantes Article

I don't understand. The Amantes article must be more than 2000 words long, yet it has been written and edited by only yourself with near perfect punctuation and grammar. I would like to think you are a literary genuis but, being a cynical person, I have to second guess that you've copied this from a book. 131.244.3.45 07:49, 27 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I didn't write the article. Miguelemejia (talk · contribs) wrote the article. I only gave the credits to the user at the user's talk page since the article was featured at WP:DYK. Nishkid64 13:51, 27 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. I have filed a report of a 3RR violation on the administrators' noticeboard yesterday and have not yet had a response. I also noticed that you have resolved several cases which were made some time after mine. I was wondering if there is any reason why mine has not been taken up. Thank you. 163.167.129.124 09:19, 27 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Help with a block

Hello. I am User:AlexCovarrubias. I was blocked but I did not break 3RR. I think it is unfair and I sent you an e-mail, since I can't edit your talkpage. Please review my case, I requested an unblock. I think I have a point, but the user that blocked me seems to be a little too hard. Thx, Alex. (I sent a friend to paste this msg since I'm blocked).

Nish, this is Alex. About the message above, I have been unblocked. However, I have been told you are recovering from surgery. WikiProject India Newsletter: Volume II, Issue 2 - March 2007

Project News
  • Jimbo's visit to India and the WikiCamp in Chennai: Jimbo recently visited India in late February and early March on wiki work. This included a trip to a WikiCamp in Chennai. The one day conference attracted 300 participants from across India and beyond dealt with issues facing wikis ([1]). It was widely covered by the press, eg The Hindu( [2]), which cited the efforts of Bhadani (edit count), Sundar (leadership on Tamil Wikipedia) and Ganeshk (Creation of Ganeshbot to create articles on Indian towns from census figures). Ganeshk himself travelled from California to attend the conference.
  • Wikipedia Weekly 15: Wikipedia Weekly, a informal Wikipedians' program that purports to give "A weekly audio roundup of Wikipedia happenings with news, interviews and roundtable discussions" recently interviewed two prominent editors Rama's Arrow and Ragib(listen). The entire 34 minute interview was entirely about the world of Indian subcontinent wiki-happenings, and was the first episode which was not entirely dominated by discussion of wiki-politics and wiki-bureaucracy, with the host Witty lama praising the efficiency of the project and its proliferation of featured content. Rama's Arrow cited the team spirit, friendship and respect among project members in discussing its success and FA productivity, as well as discussing subcontinental wiki-conflict. Ragib talked also of his public campaign to raise awareness of the Bengali Wikipedia in his native Bangladesh, which has seen a 30-fold increase in article count over the past year.

Note from Editor's Desk
  • Welcome to the March 2007 edition of our newsletter.
  • Congratulations to one of our most respected writers, bureaucrats and administrators, Nichalp, who is now entrusted with the oversight permission. In addition Riana has joined the administrative ranks after a successful RfA.
  • On a sad note, Nobleeagle, who was responsible for the creation of the Punjab WikiProject, and was largely responsible for Indian cricket team, Bhagat Singh and Lage Raho Munna Bhai becoming GAs, as well as working heavily in Indian religious and cricket work, has left the project after having his identity revealed.
  • More generally, certain Indian users have recently been subject to real life harassment by banned users, etc. If this is affecting you in real life, please do not hesitate to contact Wikimedia board members for assistance, or ask a senior Wikipedian to solicit help on your behalf if required.
  • Nishkid64, a prolific contributor and administrator, is currently undergoing surgery to fix a congenital heart defect. You can wish him well here.
  • Weekly Collaboration (Shortcut:WP:INCOTW): Collaboration of the Week has fallen from its once high feats. Please drop by and help rejuvenate it.
  • As before, we'd like to stress, this is your newsletter, and we want you to be part of it as well. Provide us with news tips. It can be anything related to the project, from discussions to calls for help, and other interesting stuff within our community. Sponsored content for recruitments within your WikiProject sub-groups are also welcome, including requests for copyediting, photographic work, peer review, etc. We'll be very happy to include them here.

  • Translation Department: Can you read and write any languages of India? Do you know multiple languages and are looking to keep your skills at a high level or improve them? If so, the Translation Depeartment may be for you!

The translation department of the India WikiProject aims to utilize high-quality non-English material related to India for the goals of the project. This includes both translating articles from and to other-language Wikipedias as well as assisting contributors with non-English sources. The department aims to provide services in transliteration, formulating scripts for various languages, as well as translating articles from one language to another and validating sources in other languages to that of the encyclopedia article. If you are looking for a friendly translator here is your go-to point. Currently, we are still seeking representation for Kashmiri, Nepali, Oriya, Sindhi and Tulu, as well as reinforcements in all other languages.

Rodney A. Smolla

Would you mind undeleting the article and talk for Rodney A. Smolla? The page was deleted using proposed deletion. Per WP:DRV, any admin can undelete these pages for me without a vote based on a reasonable request. Smolla is the current Dean of the University of Richmond School of Law and will become the Dean at the Washington & Lee School of Law over the summer. Like many of the things this notable academic has done, the press covered this change in jobs. I'd like to make sure this knowledge is documented on Wikipedia, and I'd prefer not to have to start from scratch. Erechtheus 00:07, 8 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I don't believe your reasons are really convincing. I will restore the article, but after you add the bit about the change, I will send the article to AfD. I think that would be the best place to resolve the situation. Thanks, Nishkid64 00:16, 8 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I assure you that WP:BIO will be well covered by the time I'm done with this one, but I understand your rationale. I thank you for the assistance. Erechtheus 00:17, 8 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Please feel free to evaluate and nominate if necessary at this juncture. I have added the promised information along with starting on a proper citation system for the article. I'll be adding more as I locate it, but there should be more than enough to establish notability at this point. Erechtheus 01:34, 8 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Glad that you're back from the hospital after cardiac surgery! I myself had surgery on Monday, in which 5 teeth from inside my gums were removed in addition to my wisdom teeth. Question

Hello Sir. Do you have any idea what happened with Wikipedia:Requests for comment/Emir Arven?

I know these process usually last for long at take some time, but there haven't been any develops for a month.

Is that normal? Cheers! --PaxEquilibrium 14:10, 13 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

RfC's can take a while, but it's pretty rare to see an RfC go without any activity for almost a month. However, I'm sure this is due to the fact that Emir Arwen has not edited since March 12, and without his involvement, the RfC cannot proceed. Hope that answers your question. Nishkid64 20:13, 13 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I am sure that that's his plan; he intends to wait until the RfC is dropped and then "the stream would run out" for another RfC and he would "get away" with it (just like Ratko Mladic is hoping to wait out the ICTY). --PaxEquilibrium 22:02, 13 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Big Bad Turk

"Such sort of hateful comments are not tolerated on Wikipedia. I dealt with a similar user (Oguz1) just a few weeks ago, who incited the same type of anti-XX comments, but regarding the Turkish involvement in the Armenian Genocide. Nishkid64 18:14, 16 March 2007 (UTC)"

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Nishkid64/Archive_25

I am just curious. When did I incite hateful comments? Please do tell. And you "dealt with me" and my hate? What kind of condescending and prejudicial attitude is that? Who the hell do you think you are?

I provided 3 counter sources [3], against your one source, to prove and maintain the innocence of a whole town that you accused of murder, yet I got libeled as a "denier" or as "hateful" or as "poisoning the well"!!! You reverted my edits a 1000 times, blocked me over and over again, got other anti-Turks to join in your revert war, and now you are calling me anti-XX hateful person. WHAT!!!!

Damned if I do and damned if I don't. Up is down and the accused is guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, without any court in the world even considering the case. Oh ooops, it sounds like I'm trying to reason with you...what am I thinking it never worked before and I got "dealt with".

The truth is, you are the ones making very, very serious allegations about an entire town that you have never been to and know nothing about except for that one obscure passage you found on the internet. And oddly enough, that happens to fit right into a political agenda that's based purely on hate. After 3 months, all you can provide is one biased source that's copied over and over again? Surely you can do better when it's such a known "fact", right?

So, I guess I should just shut up, apologize for something that never ever has been proven in any court of law - EVER - and then I can finally be a good person. I'm sorry, where are my morals? Let's see, I'm 37 years old, have studied this subject for over 20 years, been to 3 colleges, served in the army and navy of 2 nations and NATO on 3 continents, got an IQ over 140 which is enough for me, traveled half the world and all of US, lived and worked in D.C. politics for 30 years, lived in the town in question, lived in more towns and cities then most have been to, worked very hard all my life and did everything with my own money and sweat, lost many great friends along the way, been there - done that, and I still haven't learned shit about morality, facts, honesty, or academia, or anything else for that matter.

Until of course, I came here to meet you unemployed 15-25 year olds who have nothing better to do all day then to play with Wikipedia and jerk each other off with meaningless awards. What the fuck was I thinking? So, I am now more eloquent like your respectable Khoikhoi (a.k.a. Hottentot, etc) and talk like this [4].

Or perhaps I should be more like your beloved Nareklm, or Artaxaid or whatever else his name was, who says "fuck the system" on his personal page, and who just got booted for a year for having a dozen sockpuppets and spamming WP, and who knows what else [5]. Weren't you accusing me of the same thing, and weren't you wrong about that? Didn't you say to me condescendingly again, "hey genius, Artaxiad had a name change" when I complained about that very thing? Weren't you wrong about the BBC link that he originally gave was suppose to prove something? And didn't you give Artaxaid awards and kudos for providing the other biased link here [6]) while chastising me?

You don't know me, you know nothing about me, so where the hell do you get off calling me anti-this or that of hateful? I am extremely pissed off, yes, but not hateful - learn the difference.

I deserve an apology but you know what, it's meaningless. You never apologized for unjustly blocking Finduk anyway or anything else I mentioned above. The fact that even US public schools say WP is disreputable, is enough for me. And having attended a few of them, I can safely say that their standards are not the highest and that alone says how much WP sucks. Be proud though, you helped write it. So, I really cannot take your comments about me seriously. And I cannot take you seriously at all, as much as I wish I could because I'm wasting my time writing this (damn! :).

However, I really do care to see where I made anti-XX comments about anyone. And if I did say such things - which to me is as serious as being called a "genocidal maniac who hates people and denies it" (which is what you are calling me) - let me please please apologize ahead of time from the bottom of my heart to anyone who I may have offended ethnically. But, I know I have never made such comment. Although, I did make one comment about Armenians here: [7] I'll translate:

"Armenians in general are good, but it's those who have never ever been to Turkey, the uneducated, greedy and ignorant diaspora ones that are trying to create chaos. They don't even know how much damage they are causing."

I really do hope you feel better. Now, somebody unlock me - it's been over 2 weeks. Actually never mind, don't unlock me, seems making new accounts and doing revert wars is the best on WP. Why the hell did I waste all that time researching - stupid me. --152.216.11.5 18:47, 17 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I was about to block the user for the username violation and the vandalism-only-account, but it appears another administrator Luna Santin (talk · contribs) already blocked the user half an hour ago. Thanks, Nishkid64 21:52, 17 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Block

Since it seems that block wasn't justified, do you think it will still hurt me? I was planning on trying to become an admin in June, but this cold hurt my chances even more. TJ Spyke 20:59, 18 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

That was an interesting resolution. He claims ignorance of 3RR, but I notified him twice of the intent of 3RR, he acknowleged, and no less than seven editors engaged him on talk and disagreed with his edits. He persisted in spite of me alerting him twice and seven editors dialoguing, in disagreement, with him. This was blatant, acknowledged, disruptive edit warring, now sanctioned. Considering recent discussion on WP:AN about the reverts on global warming and intelligent design, there is an alarming trend in evidence here. I registered my comments on the 3RR page.[13] SandyGeorgia (Talk) 02:09, 19 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, I didn't really believe Brian when he said he didn't know of existing WP:3RR policy. I assumed good faith and went to his talk page, but I dropped the matter afterwards when Raul (who was involved) dealt with the 3RR report. I was considering a block against Brian, but the whole pleading ignorance thing threw me off. Nishkid64 13:05, 19 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ordu sources

The new "other sources" that are mentioned here [14] are not new or "other sources", they are the same thing. The last three are not even a valid sources (a blog, an interview, and the last taken out of context) . Please read them carefully or see below.

  • Source 4 is a book compilation which contains - verbatim - a passage from a Dardian book. It is indeed just a compilation of books, each chapter being from a different author. (I discussed this extensively already)
  • Source 6 is a magazine interview with Dardian, who says the same thing which was already quoted in Source 4, verbatim.
  • Source 5 [15], is about Giresun, not Ordu, this is completely out of context. The author only mentions Ordu as a geographical reference to Giresun, and I quote, "... and Gherasun was clean of them (Armenians)" (page 280): Here's the quote: "We went to Trrebizond...and before Trebizond sits, Treblus; and before Treblus, Gherasun; and before Gherasun, Ordu;..." (page 280, same paragraph but not the same sentence)

I trust you will correct these errors. If you are in doubt of my research, you can read them yourself and compare.

Also these may violate, Verifiability#Sources_of_dubious_reliability and Wikipedia:Verifiability#Burden_of_evidence--Oguz1 18:03, 19 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
