License tagging for File:Pcm flag.png

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Pcm flag.png. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.

To add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia. For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 19:05, 16 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Email

[edit]

Regarding your email, I understand but it needs sources and you removed info such as categories without explanation. To learn about sourcing, see Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners. SwisterTwister talk 03:52, 18 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I've received an E-mail regarding the same matter. You asked me why a maintenance tag appears on President's College, Maharagama. Well maintenance tags are a part of Wikipedia. It means that specific article lacks verifiability thus it needs more reliable sources as citations/references. As Wikipedia is an encyclopedia it must not contain original research and vital/controversial content must be verifiable. If you want to remove that tag you have to cite content that aren't cited yet. All readers must be able to verify the accuracy of your content by visiting that reference (could be reliable news articles, books, journals). For information visit that guide SwisterTwister mentioned above. As a side note; Read Wikipedia's five pillars. Cheers!--Chamith (talk) 09:13, 18 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

President's College, Maharagama

[edit]

Hi there, I've noticed that you have cited Wikipedia itself as a source, twice. And also you added school song lyrics to the article. By doing so you've violated two Wikipedia policies WP:CIRCULAR and WP:NOTLYRICS. Please, do not continue to breach the same policies over and over again. I'm aware that you are a new editor so you will take time to get familiar with all these Wikipedia policies. But there is no exception for making the same mistake over and over again. I have a feeling that you have a close connection with the subject (President's College, Maharagama). Hence there is a huge possibility of conflict of interest underneath. I'm not accusing you or anything. I just hope you will be neutral, at least when editing Wikipedia. Do not discriminate or make biased contributions. Always have a neutral point of view. This is an encyclopedia. Not an advertisement, a book, newspaper or anything else. If you have any questions regarding editing Wikipedia feel free to ask on my talk page or Teahouse question forum. Cheers -- Chamith (talk) 13:58, 18 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

If you see any other pages which include school songs/lyrics, feel free to remove them. Or just send me the links, I'll do it for you. It's hard to keep track of every single page on Wikipedia. There is a vast amount of trivial and inaccurate information that need to be removed. We are working hard on it. Best --Chamith (talk) 16:08, 18 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
By the way I've removed the maintenance tag as you were able to cite most of unsourced content. But the article could be improved further. And no, you can't add an image of the anthem as its most likely to be copyrighted -- Chamith (talk) 16:13, 18 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Patrolling

[edit]

Thank you for sending me those links. Please feel free to notify me if you come across similar issues. And also, I've noticed that most Sri Lankan school-related articles are subjected to narcissist edits by students from those specific schools. Most of the time they added peacock terms such as "best school", "coolest school", "one of the best" without providing a reliable source. Hence it's obviously original research. If you stumble upon situations such as that, be bold and remove those contributions or else, just notify me and I'll deal with them. Thank you and happy editing --Chamith (talk) 17:11, 18 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image File:Pcm Crest.png

[edit]
⚠

Thanks for uploading File:Pcm Crest.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 17:46, 19 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:President's College Maharagama-School anthem.ogg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright and licensing status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can verify that it has an acceptable license status and a verifiable source. Please add this information by editing the image description page. You may refer to the image use policy to learn what files you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. The page on copyright tags may help you to find the correct tag to use for your file. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please also check any other files you may have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Friendly Seven (talk) 17:11, 5 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use File:Arawwala Map.png

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Arawwala Map.png. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Fut.Perf. 14:39, 21 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Asian 10,000 Challenge invite

[edit]

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Asia/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like South East Asia, Japan/China or India etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Asian content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon which has produced near 200 articles in just three days. If you would like to see this happening for Asia, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Asia, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 11:25, 20 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
