Re: Vandalism
[edit]You can go ahead and warn the vandals on their talk page. Most of the vandal fighters on Wikipedia are normal editors like you and me, we only ask the administrators to block the account/IP after a number of warnings (usually 3 or 4). To ease our task we use predefined templates that can be found on WP:UTM. You can find most of the information about how figuting vandalism on Wikipedia at WP:Vandalism if I remember well. I hope that helps! -- lucasbfr talk 07:21, 22 January 2007 (UTC)
An Automated Message from HagermanBot
[edit]Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You may also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! HagermanBot 00:20, 25 January 2007 (UTC)
Re: blocking
[edit]He's been given a final warning, so we'll wait to see if he does it again. If he hadn't been warned, I'd just have blocked him, since every one of his edits has been vandalism. Blocking is done by us admins, yeah. By the way, welcome! --jpgordon∇∆∇∆ 03:57, 1 February 2007 (UTC)
- I saw your post on Jpgordon's page and join in the welcome. :) For your future reference, users who vandalize should receive warnings (you will become familiar with the warning messages as you gain more wiki-experience), and then if they persist can be reported to WP:AIV, which is a noticeboard that administrators watch to keep an eye on these problems. Re: Appropriate language for Talk pages?
[edit]Mmm... On a strict policy point of view, he seems to be borderline at some point (the part about the watch list is not very AGF friendly), but it seems he did not cross the line. His comments seem argumented (even if I did not follow his reasoning, I am not familiar with Holocaust denial). Remember he needs to cite all his additions if you feel they might be wrong (beware of the 3RR though :)). On such heated topics it is crucial to cite every claim. I hope that helped a lotbit, sorry not being able to do more :s -- lucasbfr talk 16:59, 2 February 2007 (UTC)
