Barbera

The news reports he was Lebanese are wrong. In his bio, which I myself read cover to cover, he says he and his family are Sicilian, spoke Italian in the home, and he never says anything about being Lebanese. — Rlevse • Talk • 01:05, 11 July 2009 (UTC)

You'll need to provide sources because I did research on him and nothing even mentions Sicily.

His autobiography only says he's Sicilian. On pages 17-18 it says his maternal grandmother was from Sciacca, province of Agrigento. On page 58 it says that his dad is Sicilian. On page 128 of his autobio he calls himself Sicilian. I think this confusion arose because Barbera is a name common in many Mediterranean countries, including Italy/Sicily and Lebanon. Some obits erroneously reported he was Lebanese, but I have to say his autobio saying both parents were Italian and spoke Italian trumps the other refs unless better info can be found. Joseph Barbera

Hi. Can you please stop edit warring at the Joseph Barbera article? You have now reverted three times and this is extremely counter productive. The autobiography as mentioned above and elsewhere seems to be the most reliable source considering it was from the subject, of course. Any other secondary sources would seem to have misinformation. If you continue edit warring you could be blocked from editing as clearly the information you are removing is the most accurately and reliably sourced content. - Rjd0060 (talk) 01:30, 11 July 2009 (UTC)

Hi, how about we simply leave out his ancestry? Because some think he is Lebanese and some think he is Sicilian.

When the guy says in his own autobio that his parents were from Sicily and he grew up speaking Italian, there's no thinking he was Italian, it's a fact. This Lebanese stuff all comes from one erroneous news report printed around the time he died. And please sign your posts on talk pages. — Rlevse • Talk • 01:43, 11 July 2009 (UTC)

Hi. I'm not questioning what you claim he said. I'm just saying that we need links to verify that. Its not a matter of me not trusting you, (I have no problem believing what you say), but its that trhe article should leave no doubt about his ethnicity; so that whoever reads it can verify it.
