Help needed please
[edit]Hello sir, I am very new to wikipedia, and I only started going through it because of my project, in which i have to create my own wiki (although now i spend more time browsing through wikipedia than worrying about my project) :):) Since you are such an advanced user of wiki, I was wondering whether you could help me with my project too... I want to model my home page on the style of wikipedia.. a template which will display a page in the table column, and trim it if it exceeds a particular size. If you could even redirect me where to find such help, I'll be really grateful. thanks in advance..

Many thanks for your reply sir!! I have already done a View Source of the main page, and got the table with 2 side by side light background colour columns on my main page (~ Today's Featured Article and Did You Know), and i can also display a page within a table column. But my problem is fitting/trimming a page to column length. Currently, my table expands to fit the entire page, which does not look pretty at all :( If instead of calling another template, i can put some PHP/HTML code to trim any page to a predefined length and provide a link for the page itself, that would solve my problem completely. Any more pointers in this regard will be really helpful. Thanks again!! --Cappycheets 06:47, 27 December 2006 (UTC)
That's all right, please. You have made quite a few things clear to me. Thanks a ton!! :) --Cappycheets 07:03, 28 December 2006 (UTC)

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Apple glyph2.png)
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Apple glyph2.png. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image is unlicensed for use on Wikipedia and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. I have deprecated it with a font hack, .—Ryūlóng (竜龍) 04:10, 19 January 2007 (UTC)
- Yes, that image has since been orphaned by someone adding a new version to the original image Image:Apple glyph.png and reverting all links from the image I uploaded. Please speedy delete it, it is redundant. Nihiltres 04:14, 19 January 2007 (UTC)

Tag image?
[edit]It has been a while since I last signed on, and just noticed the comment about the copyright issues for my tesseract animation. I thought that I had already added the necessary information under the picture's information when I first uploaded it. Where am I supposed to do this tagging? Thanks.

- You tag the image on the "Image:Imagename" page, and it seems you've released the rights to the image perfectly as of looking at it now. Awesome work. Sorry if anything I said confused or alarmed you in any way or degree - Wikipedia has to be careful about the licensing of the images it displays.
