Unclean animals
[edit]So, people decide to talk about the article and you decide to leave because nobody is interested in working on the article? I don't understand how people working out their issues with the article on the talk page is indicative of a lack of collaboration. Your choices, but weird reasoning, man. NickelShoe 05:39, 7 December 2005 (UTC)
- Precicely ... people are more willing to bitch and complain about what's done wrong than contribute and fix it. Its sad but its true. ALKIVAR™ 05:46, 7 December 2005 (UTC)
Translation: Almira
[edit]Hi,
I have just finished the first draft of my translation of de:Almira to go into Almira and since you were the one who put up the request, I just thought you'd like to know. (You are most welcome to help fixing whatever errors I made, by the way).
Regards

Jaromil
[edit]You're generous! He started his own vanity article, interesting that no one takes this issue up....vcxlor 01:20, 22 December 2005 (UTC)Nothing personal, you do good cleanups, I do catneededs, and this guy gets away with it! It's not what wiki is. Happy christmas anyway!vcxlor 02:32, 22 December 2005 (UTC)
FYI i do open source software since several years, which has been documented on wikipedia already by others: Dyne:bolic, MuSE and FreeJ, with the page I created I wanted to complete that information. Now, since you are complaining, please provide a solution to the situation. I acknowledged the "vanity article taboo" after having created the page and made my point about it on my talk page, you are welcome to reply that and/or propose further action to solve the problem. please do. jaromil 15:11, 27 December 2005 (UTC)
Opera synopses by Simon Holledge
[edit]Have you deleted any of my synopses? I don't understand the note you put on my talk page.
When I copied my synopses published on my site Opera japonica to Wikipedia I went through the process of notifying Wikipedia in the proper way that I was giving Wikipedia permission - so the question of copyright violation should NOT have arisen.
Please let me know what the situation is. Obviously any deleted material should be restored as soon as possible..

Andrew Hendy Article
[edit]Hello. I noticed that you placed Andrew Hendy into the Native American leaders category. I simply wanted to let you know that the Wikipedia category of "Native Americans" and its subcategories refers only to the Native peoples of the United States. I made the same mistake myself and I was informed of Wikipedia policy regarding the issue, so I thought I'd pass it along. -[[User:Asarelah}}
Tranliterating vowels
[edit]Hi, many thanx 4 your helpful suggestions - i'm a bit new to all this. I believe the simpler form Hezbi is now more acceptable than the longer Hezb-e or Hezb-i. The inherent problem of transliterating vowels (using 'i' or 'e') still remains but generally the hyphenation is considered old fashioned. I prefer the modern method for the simple fact that theres less to type! So yes I will check the links through when i get some time, I do first need to be sure that there's a consistent feel across Wikipedia - and of course in line with other tranliteration projects, but I think this is the general modern position as reflected by this entry for example: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hallaj ... The other factor is when there is an english translation available we should be linking there, and if possible creating translations as well as transliterations to link to ... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Itihad_Islami Paki.tv 09:14, 6 January 2006 (UTC)

Topsy Turvy
[edit]After the Jaromil episode, I see you're in no doubt about some of the others I have come across, whom I thought I should give an option to do something. Oh well it is wiki. Best of the new year to you!SatuSuro 16:28, 5 January 2006 (UTC)aka vcxlor
- I'm not sure what you mean? NickelShoe 16:30, 5 January 2006 (UTC)
- Apologies it's just aftermidnight in my time zone, and I should be off! I had followed the rather odd
jaromil issue, and understood your point of view in your dialogue with him. I continue to throw dogs breakfast combos at two liner arts which look as though they might have someone prepared to fix the arts up, but I also can see your point in proposing deletion! Looking too many ways at once! Best Wishes. Hope that explains it! SatuSuro
- Crossed in the messages. You are not being harsh! I shouild probably be more bold in taking on the two line arts for Afd! I suppose I'm just checking to see if some art creators/or watchers are prepared to clean some of the marginal arts up or not!SatuSuro 16:40, 5 January 2006 (UTC)
- Well I just figure some of the articles aren't fixable. I don't so much care about length as the possiblity that anybody will ever want to look up that information. NickelShoe 16:43, 5 January 2006 (UTC) I figure an orphan page with only one contributor of content that sounds unimportant on the face of it probably doesn't need to be in here, and I drop them a line to let them know I've nominated it for AfD, in case there's something they didn't put in the article that would make it worth saving. NickelShoe 16:48, 5 January 2006 (UTC)
- That's very reasonable! That's more than I do, I just whop the catneeded on and vamoose!
Anyway I am out of it (I hear Frank Zappa's voice when I type that)It's late here. Thanks for the interaction, best wishes SatuSuro 16:55, 5 January 2006 (UTC)
The guy that posted articles on Iraqi villages
[edit]Hi their and thank you for your comments and for the tips. I will try to correct my mistakes in the future. And as for the pictures, they were taken from a charity group that has allowed me to post them. Is it ok posting these pics? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Chaldean (talk • contribs) Moved here from your userpage. -- Essjay · Talk 19:31, 9 January 2006 (UTC)
Could you look at this page (Warned.net) and tell me if it should be deleted; I stumbled upon it while looking at random pages, and I would like your feedback.Tom 04:57, 10 January 2006 (UTC)
- Personally, I'd just leave it be. It gets over six hundred Google hits, which is something. I don't figure that article is hurting anything by being there. But I don't feel strongly enough to vote keep if you nominated it. NickelShoe 05:07, 10 January 2006 (UTC)
That's a close call. On second thought, I could be wrong on that. I thought the user just copied it off the URL you gave, which is freely accessible, but it looks like they have full access or something, because the content at that URL just cuts off in mid-sentence. I did note, however, that the contributor's name is Amy Cronk and therefore might be a relative. It's possible that she herself wrote it and gave it to the web site, so I thought I'd play it safe and give her a chance to claim ownership of it. If it wasn't for that, I'd go back and speedy it now. howcheng {chat} 23:50, 10 January 2006 (UTC)

Article
[edit]I did not right that article, I simply copied it over from another article that had a misspelled title. However if someone hasn't already fixed it ,I'll be sure to look into it.Johann Wolfgang 22:46, 15 January 2006 (UTC)
Actors cats cleanup
[edit]Hi, NickelShoe - I just noticed that we have been working on similar tasks - recategorizing articles from the more generic categories: Category:American actors, Category:Film actors, Category:Stage actors, and Category:Television actors into the specific cats:Category:American film actors, Category:American stage actors, and Category:American television actors :) I'm glad to find at least one other editor working on this. When I look at all of the names in Category:American actors it seems a rather daunting task! It also makes me smile that our user names have this similarity - we are both "shoes" - although mine is spelled 'Shu'! Cheers, LiniShu 04:20, 19 January 2006 (UTC)

Moving articles
[edit]Thanks, NickelShoe, for the information on moving articles. I didn't really know how to properly move/redirect an article. I guess I never noticed or thought about the move button. I appreciate that information for future use. - Rlvaughn 01:49, 28 January 2006 (UTC)
Thanks for the clean-up effort.
[edit]Hi,
Thank you so much for helping clean-up several articles I work on earlier this week. Your work is greatly appreciated.

Actors categorization
[edit]Hi, NickelShoe, regarding the Actors categorization, I've posted a "working conclusion" at Wikipedia talk:Categorization#Professions subcategorized by Nationality, that I intend to follow now, in order to proceed with applying consistent categorization of the Actors articles. I wanted to call your attention to the fact, that, on that page, following that conclusion, I've requested your "blessing" on the new direction, as much as it can be given. Your opinion matters. I think the whole thing is well-considered enough to give it a try, and to let time and usage tell whether it is a good idea or not. Thanks, --Lini 13:39, 29 January 2006 (UTC)
