[edit]User:John Broughton, File:Wikipedia-The Missing Manual 0105.png is on the list of images that show "Save page". Do you want that updated, or left alone for historical accuracy? Whatamidoing (WMF) (talk) 21:42, 22 March 2018 (UTC)
- That image appears on the page Help:Wikipedia: The Missing Manual/Editing, creating, and maintaining articles/Editing for the first time; many of the other images on that page (for example, this one) are also outdated. Unless someone plans to put in a lot of time to fix all the outdated information on those and scores of other pages, I don't see any reason to spend effort on one or two things, here and there. [Larger issue: I think beginners today should learn VisualEditor, not wikitext editing.] -- John Broughton (♫♫) 22:31, 22 March 2018 (UTC)
It looks like the citoid-related ones (e.g., File:Citoid results in VisualEditor Screen Shot 2015-04-02.png) went out in the newsletter. Normally, I'd say that it's probably better to leave those alone. However, they're also used in the local user guide, and we need something (ideally using the public domain/CC-0 text from mw:Help:Sample page instead of an article) for the user guide. Maybe it's time to (finally) re-write the referencing sections of the user guide? Whatamidoing (WMF) (talk) 21:53, 22 March 2018 (UTC)
