This page is great, please tell me you intend move it into the article namespace soon - Is it complete? Dmn 18:40, 12 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have been working on the page since shortly after the last general election. I hope to have it completed by the time this May's elections roll around. It is not complete yet, however, it does have all Conservative, Liberal Democrat, Plaid, SNP, Independent and Respect MPs listed, all Labours through till (but not including) the 1979 election, and all other Labour MPs first elected at a by-election. There are a lot of other Labour MPs listed for more recent elections, but coverage is not total for any of those. --New Progressive 19:11, 12 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Patrick Cormack

[edit]

Great work: hopefully this will move into the article namespace soon! Just a comment: apparently (I can't remember where I read this, probably in The Times), Sir Patrick Cormack is adamant that the delayed general election poll in South Staffordshire doesn't cause a break in his service, as no-one else represented the constituency in the interim. --RFBailey 22:51, 19 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Patrick Cormack can be adamant all he likes, but the point was seriously posited by a number of newspapers and constitutional scholars. Until somebody produces a definitive ruling from the Speaker or other official authority, I think it should continue to be mentioned that there is a possible break in service. As far as I know, the actual legal position here has not been established, so I feel it would be at minimum original research to start drawing our own conclusions. --New Progressive 23:29, 19 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Constituency names

[edit]

I hope that you do not mind that I saw a few red links and corrected the constituency names involved. I linked here from the Spelthorne constituency article and I did not notice that this excellent article was not yet in place as an ordinary article. --Gary J (talk) 12:42, 18 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
