Welcome to Wikipedia!
[edit]Hello NewmanSociety, welcome to Wikipedia!
I noticed nobody had said hi yet... Hi!
If you feel a change is needed, feel free to make it yourself! Wikipedia is a wiki, so anyone (yourself included) can edit any article by following the Edit this page link. Wikipedia convention is to be bold and not be afraid of making mistakes. If you're not sure how editing works, have a look at How to edit a page, or try out the Sandbox to test your editing skills.

If, for some reason, you are unable to fix a problem yourself, feel free to ask someone else to do it. Wikipedia has a vibrant community of contributors who have a wide range of skills and specialties, and many of them would be glad to help. As well as the wiki community pages there are IRC Channels, where you are more than welcome to ask for assistance.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask me on my talk page. Thanks and happy editing, Alf melmac 16:45, 19 September 2005 (UTC).
Image copyright problem with Image:Newmandinner05.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Newmandinner05.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Image copyright problem with Image:HarmanDM3103 468x529.jpeg
[edit]Thank you for uploading Image:HarmanDM3103 468x529.jpeg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Mosmof (talk) 13:32, 2 April 2008 (UTC)
Newman Soc. page
[edit]Hi, and thanks for asking about reviewing the categorisation of the Newman Society article. I can certainly see you've put a great deal of effort into improving the article, so well done! The next step after B-Class is to get the page recognised as being a Good Article, which involves submitting it to review here after making sure it meets the criteria.
I don't think the article will have too much trouble with most of the points, and would be happy to nominate the article, but there are a couple of (minor) points which might benefit from attention first. I suggest reading this page to get an idea, for example I think the lead could do with expanding to introduce the key aspects of the subject to readers who are unfamiliar with the subject matter.
I hope this response doesn't come across as negative, as it's an impressive article with much going for it. It's just that the next step requires a bit of input from the wider wiki community and it's best to make sure no-one has an excuse to criticise minor points! Shared username
[edit]Welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that your username, "NewmanSociety", may not meet Wikipedia's username policy because the username implies shared use and your user page says the username is shared. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. As an alternative, you may ask for a change of username by completing this form, or you may simply create a new account for editing. It's uncertain but possible that some individuals sharing the account need to take additional action to comply with conflict of interest or paid editing policies. - Username now restricted one user. Profile edited to show this. Thanks! NewmanSociety (talk) 09:31, 20 October 2017 (UTC)
- Thank you for responding and making adjustments regarding the use of this account. There may be some issues that are unresolved:
- The account name continues to imply it is held by an organization rather than an individual
- The history of edits (& the associated copyright) represent a variety of people rather than one individual
- Use of the account by one individual at a time suggests the account will be passed on to someone else at a later date
- Thank you for responding and making adjustments regarding the use of this account. There may be some issues that are unresolved:
- I may be nitpicking and I'm not confident my view of the situation is correct so I'll hand it off to Requests for comment/User names where more experienced editors can weigh in. Gab4gab (talk) 17:16, 25 November 2017 (UTC)
Hello, NewmanSociety. Concerns have been raised that your username may be incompatible with policy. You can contribute to the discussion about it at the page for requests for comment on usernames. Alternatively, if you agree that your username may be problematic and are willing to change it, it is possible for you to keep your present contributions history under a new name. Simply request a new name at Wikipedia:Changing username following the guidelines on that page, rather than creating a whole new account. Thank you. Gab4gab (talk) 17:21, 25 November 2017 (UTC)
Wikipedia:Requests for comment/User names
[edit]Just to make you aware if the consensus at Wikipedia:Requests for comment/User names is to Disallow your username then you're going to be blocked indefinitely so it might be a good to request a name changer sooner than later, Failing that you can just recreate another account with an appropriate username however you'd be essentailly starting from scratch, Up to you. –Davey2010Talk 17:39, 25 November 2017 (UTC)

[edit]Your username is the only reason for this block. You are welcome to choose a new username (see below) and continue editing.
A username should not be promotional, related to a "real-world" group or organization, misleading, offensive or disruptive. Also, usernames may not end in the word "bot" unless the account is an approved bot account.
You are encouraged to choose a new account name that meets our policy guidelines and create the account yourself. Alternatively, if you have already made edits and you wish to keep your existing contributions under a new name, then you may request a change in username by:
- Adding
{{unblock-un|your new username here}}
on your user talk page. You should be able to do this even though you are blocked, as you can usually still edit your own talk page. If not, you may wish to contact the blocking administrator by clicking on "Email this user" on their talk page. - At an administrator's discretion, you may be unblocked for 24 hours to file a request.
- Please note that you may only request a name that is not already in use, so please check here for a listing of already taken names. The account is created upon acceptance, thus do not try to create the new account before making the request for a name change. For more information, please see Wikipedia:Changing username.
- Adding
{{unblock|Your reason here}}
on your user talk page, but you should read our guide to appealing blocks first. Beeblebrox (talk) 00:15, 29 November 2017 (UTC)
