Thanks for ur message.I would be very happy to contribute to the project but I am unaware about what exactly I can do or in fact what is the difference between Maharashtra project and Maharashtra wiki project. Please do let me know when u think about a task which I can do. Mahawiki 11:31, 21 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I shall surely contribute to the extent possible. Thanks for the invitation. --Bhadani 15:09, 21 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The lighted path

[edit]

I thank you for your greetings. I wish you All The Best on the ocasion of the Indian festival of light, Diwali. I am sure that the light of hope, confidence, and all positive attributes shall always remain inside you – lighting your path and guiding you to attain higher and higher levels of excellence in all your endevours! All the best! --Bhadani 15:08, 21 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Tilak

[edit]

The point is the following; people who refute AIT are very often linked politically to the right-wing and to the organizations more or less hindutva-related, hence more or less related to Savarkar. The strange point is that Savarkar's influences, like Tilak rested heavily on classical Hindu (and orthodox BTW) Vedas interpretation of an artic origin of the anciant rishis. You see the contradiction ? See ya. AlexOriens 16:03, 21 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your Diwali greeting and invitation to the Maharashtra project. Unfortunately I am not very knowledgeable about Marathi culture but I do know that they are great people. I am ethnically Punjabi. One thing that Marathis and Punjabis have in common in our fighting spirit. I hope to contribute soon but am too busy with school exams and with other Wiki tasks. However, best wishes for the Maharashtra Wikiproject! GizzaChat © 04:09, 22 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Re:Re: Tilak

[edit]

Yes, pretty ironic that contradiction. But really, may be there something more than irony and mere contradiction. By the way, happy Diwali. AlexOriens 23:30, 21 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for ur information. It is really great as I am very concerned of vandalism/bias and 'pushing of POV' at Maharashtra related articles.I will certainly contribute to the project.Happy Diwali! Mahawiki 04:34, 22 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Repack that attitude, son, it's not going to get you far.

I singled out "jaw-dropping" as an EXAMPLE of sheerly obvious adspeak, not the only flaw. I could have tagged "his extra-ordinary chops" and "the ease with which he shifts..." as other examples.

If you have any issues, please tell me first. Don't tag articles just like that.

That's what the TAG is for in the first place. Pay attention. Oh, and dropping one ridiculously opinionated adjective doesn't come close to fixing things. --Calton | Talk 21:27, 23 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Before trying to advise others, first try to rectify your own attitude, kid. You were told the same thing by another editor.
It's said often to me, kiddo, by trolls, the dishonest, the incompetent, and the fanatical. Why, are you suggesting a correlation?
In any case, since you a) have done nothing to rectify the problems; b) remain blithely unaware of why they are problems; and c) don't seem to understand the point of tags in general; I'm restoring the tags and referring you to this page, this page, and this page. Hint 1: read them all, though especially the first. Hint 2: the tags exist for a reason. Hint 3: removing tags without dealing with the underlying causes is, shall we say, frowned upon. --Calton | Talk 04:17, 24 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
What IS your major malfunction? It's in the tags, I've already told you my specific take, given you THREE examples, AND pointed you to the specific pages that cover it -- and given your attitude, I'm going to change my mind and tell you to read the third link first. --Calton | Talk 04:28, 24 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I told you to provide me the problems in the article. How can I know what the problem is before you specify. As far as the link you've provided is concerned, I am the sole editor so far, so whatever is the problem you think is, that must be edited by me. So please provide the specific problems.
I give up. Is simple reading such a problem?
  • READ the links: no, actually read them.
  • UNDERSTAND the links: your interpretation of the third link is so wildly off the mark it boggles the mind.
  • FIX the problems: which is discussed IN THE TAGS and for which I have ALREADY given you THREE simple examples to start with.
Until then, the tags stay. --Calton | Talk 05:26, 24 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi New Rock Star, Shubh Deepavali to you as well. Calton's a good guy and I'm certain that his intent is to improve the article. Some citations would help as well. Take care -- Samir धर्म 05:39, 24 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Wishes/ Comment

[edit]

Hi NRS, thanks for your wishes. Eid Mubarak to you as well and hope you had a Happy Diwali...

The article looks good in its current form. I hope you have already nominated it for DYK. You get only a five day window within which the article must be nominated and feature on the main page. If you havent nominated it, please do so right away... I am sorry I am not able to give too much constructive feedback as I am not online for long. I will be more regular in about a week's time and will definitely help with your next nom. -- Lost(talk) 13:42, 24 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Please don't remove templates from there. There is a world of difference between what articles say and what they are construed to mean in the article. It is all original research mixing race, sectarinism et al. TerryJ-Ho 16:34, 24 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Namaskarji,

I am sorry, but, though I have some family that lives in Aurengabad, I have little exposure to cultures of India outside of Kashmir, and Andhra. Thank you for your consideration, however.

Proposing a change at WikiProject India

[edit]

Hi,

I'm proposing a major change related to WikiProject India. I'm trying to build a consensus. Your suggestions/views/ideas are very much valued. Please talk about it here. Cheers. -- Chez (Discuss / Email)06:07, 28 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the Barnstar

[edit]

I really appreciate it :-). Oh, and yes, I am Jewish, though not Bene Israeli but Sephardic/Baghdadi on my mother's side. My dad is a Kelkar so I get my name from him only. My interest in Hinduism stems from my father's side of the family. I have a multitude of reasons for being slightly sympathetic to the center right parties, particularly B.J.P. I wish I could get into the reasons in more detail, but it'd take too long. Sufficed to say I share many of the views of J.F.R. Jacob, another Indian Jew who was a member of the B.J.P. :-) . I do speak a little Marathi, but not at a very advanced level. Oddly enough, we mostly spoke English at home. Sacreligious, isn't it ^__^ ? Hkelkar 09:01, 29 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Joined The Project

[edit]

Hi there, thanks for invitation. I have joined the Project on Maharashtra. I will try to contribute as much as I can. I can work on Malvan, Konkan related articles.

Is there any project on Islam ? And also cricket, football and movies or such ?

Mohammed Malvankar 15:12, 30 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Don't know how I can do? I can vote to keep the article. The article needs to have a lot of good sources for it not to get deleted. Maybe you should start by expanding what's already there.--D-Boy 23:21, 30 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

November Esperanza Newsletter

[edit]
Program Feature: Admin Coaching (needs coaches!)
Admin Coaching needs coaches!!! If you are an administrator, or even a generally experienced user, do consider signing up to be a coach.

Admin Coaching, now being coordinated by HighwayCello, is a program for people who want help learning some of the more subtle aspects of Wikipedia policy and culture. People are matched with experienced users who are willing to offer coaching. The program is designed for people who have figured out the basics of editing articles; they're not newcomers any more, but they might want some help in learning new roles. In this way, Esperanza would help keep hope alive for Wikipedia because we would always be grooming the next generation of admins.

What's New?
The Tutorial Drive is a new Esperanza program! In an effort to make complicated processes on Wikipedia easier for everyone, Esperanza working to create and compile a list of tutorials about processes here on Wikipedia. Consider writing one!
A discussion on how Esperanza relates to the encyclopedia has been started; please add your thoughts.
Many thanks to MiszaBot, courtesy of Misza13, for delivering the newsletter.
  • The list of proposed programs has been updated, with some proposals being archived.
  • There is now a new program: the Tutorial Drive! Consider writing a tutorial on something you are good at doing on Wikipedia.
  • The suggestion of adding a cohesive look to all the Esperanza pages is being considered; join the discussion if you are interested!
  • In order to make a useful interlanguage welcome template, those involved in translation projects will be asked what English Wikipedia policies are most important and confusing to editors coming from other language Wikipedias.
  • A discussion of Esperanza's role in Wikipedia is being held, with all thoughts of all Esperanzians wanted!
  • Shreshth91 informed everyone that he will be leaving the Esperanza council as life is rather busy; his spot will be filled by the runner up from the last election, HighwayCello.

Although having the newsletter appear on everyone's userpage is desired, this may not be ideal for everyone. If, in the future, you wish to receive a link to the newsletter, rather than the newsletter itself, you may add yourself to Wikipedia:Esperanza/Newsletter/Opt Out List.

Hi, Thanks for awarding Barnstar for me.... It will help me to work with more vigour and energy. --Lravikumar 14:14, 9 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Please put this article in your watchlist. It is full of junk pseudoscience lifted off of Pakistani Nationalist Websites and Dalitstan (of all places) and is a potential POV fork of Demographics of India (I removed the Dalitstan and Pakistani Nationalist crap but you know the revert-warriors).I think this article should be AfD'ed.Hkelkar 09:28, 10 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The thing is that the section on vedic metal lacks sources other than the link to Rudra. Does the presence of one band suggest a whole genre?More sources are needed. If more sources are provided then nobody will be able to delete anything.Hkelkar 09:41, 10 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hey NRS, a very delayed thank you:) Past few days have been kind of hectic... I am looking forward to many nice DYKs and hopefully even some FAs from you! BTW, you are doing quite a great job with Wikiproject Maharashtra!! Do let me know if my assistance required for any DYKs. -- Lost(talk) 17:35, 10 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Help note

[edit]

We need assessors at Wikipedia:WikiProject_Hinduism/Assessment. All you need to do is look at Hinduism related articles and judge how good they look, its extremely backlogged. Bakaman Bakatalk 05:48, 12 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. There are thousands of Hinduism articles, and yet only 10 or so are ranked.Bakaman Bakatalk 05:56, 12 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Category:Hinduism, Category:Hinduism stubs (its easy to rate these, theyre all stub class), and Category:Hindus.Bakaman Bakatalk 06:00, 12 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Durga Puja is a bit more important than mid. Its the major hallmark in the way Bengali people practice Hinduism (meaning "top"). Its all good though. Importance is pretty subjective, I'm sure I may mismark something dealing with Maharashtra, too. We should find some guidelines to write afterwards though.Bakaman Bakatalk 06:21, 12 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
