Mira Costa High School

I'm a student at Mira Costa High School and I am presenting honest observations about my environment. Seeing as you have never set foot on the school, I believe that you calling it "nonsense" is irrational and insulting.

I did in no way mean to insult you. It's a boilerplate message. I did however add the link to "Wikipedia:Neutral Point of View" myself. I did not mean to bite you. I've been reverting several articles and when quickly observing the changes made by you contained the term "squeaky-wheel parents" near the top I suspected a dishonest contribution. Wikipedia is trying look like an encylopedia; this didn't. Please *do* contribute, but try to make it look less like prose and more like a dictionary-type definition. use of tag "en"

hey there, sorry if i respond now, i'm still on vacation and am only able to check my messages very briefly.

you are right! i didn't notice that en would lead to a disamb. my bad. Articles normally carry something like "name (English)" or "Name (in German)" or even "...(German language)", however i have also bumped into the abbreviated version, the language code for a language, for example de or jp. in the case you have pointed out, en is of course for English language. I'll try to backtrack on the articles where it has been used and try to correct it if necessary, thanks again for pointing it out I wasn't even aware that happened.. It's all a matter of opinion. It's your opinion that Whitedude is nonsense. In my opinion, he's a legend. In case you're not familiar with his work, he is a porn star. (Look him up on IMDb if you don't believe me.) Some of the info I gave was an exaggeration, and the photo was fake, but I can't post his real photo since they all contain nudity.

Hey, maybe I was wrong...I can't find him on IMDb...I only saw one of his films (Horny Cowgirls Gone Wild Vol. III directed by Paul Worschwitz) and he was credited for the character of "Captain Cock" as Whitedude, but on the DVD "actor profiles" section they said he was in over 230 films in his bio, and it said he was born in 1959 and it showed a photo of him with John Holmes in the 1980s before he died. Maybe Whitedude is an alias? Maybe he uses another name usually. I'll try to find out.

I'm afraid you're mistaken. I'm am not an administrator on wikipedia. I realize it's probably too late now, but in the future you can add the username or IP-number on Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism (or WP:AIV for short). Reaction is usually fast and within minutes. The official policy on how to handle vandalism is described at Wikipedia:Vandalism. Hi Dog Eat Dog World. Both of these make use of templates. If a template is defined it may be used by writing {{templatename}}. Replacing "templatename" with the actual name of the template.

The "stop"-hand for example is part of the test4 template (can you search for it, I've removed the link to stop automated bots from attempting to subst: it on their automatic runs -- User:Tawker). (There are lots more of anti-vandal templates listed at Wikipedia:Vandalism#Warning_templates.) The "recent changes patroller" image and text is one of hundreds of "userboxes" that you can add to your user-page. These also work with templates. The one for the recent changes patroller is {{User wikipedia:RC Patrol}}. Presently I only use a single userbox on my user-page, so that's probably not a good example of their use. But you can have a look at Pilotguy's user-page, who also happens to be an RC patroller and uses quite a few them. Hope I've been helpful, cheers, Netizen 23:27, 2 February 2006 (UTC)

VandalProof 1.2 Now Available

After a lenghty, but much-needed Wikibreak, I'm happy to announce that version 1.2 of VandalProof is now available for download! Beyond fixing some of the most obnoxious bugs, like the persistent crash on start-up that many have experienced, version 1.2 also offers a wide variety of new features, including a stub-sorter, a global user whitelist and blacklist, navigational controls, and greater customization. You can find a full list of the new features here. While I believe this release to be a significant improvement over the last, it's nonetheless nowhere near the end of the line for VandalProof. Thanks to Rob Church, I now have an account on test.wikipedia.org with SysOp rights and have already been hard at work incorporating administrative tools into VandalProof, which I plan to make available in the near future. An example of one such SysOp tool that I'm working on incorporating is my simple history merge tool, which simplifies the process of performing history merges from one article into another. Anyway, if you haven't already, I'd encourage you to download and install version 1.2 and take it out for a test-drive. I forgot to login while I was surfing Wikipedia. All of a sudden a yellow bar appeared which said I had a personal message. Here you complained about vandalism. Soon this was followed by another complaint and a final warning. Why do I get to see that while it's not my IP-number? Obviously those edits weren't done by me. Hi, Black1Night. A large number of changes occurred from that IP in short time. Many legitimate and some obvious vandalism. I'm not familiar enough with wikipedia internals or networking to answer your question. Assuming that the changes indeed occurred from said IP, a common explanation might be that yours is a shared IP used by several users. This I understand is for example common for users on AOL. If this causes a problem in the future you might consider bringing it up on the Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard. Or drop me a note here - although I don't have administrator privileges. The odd thing was that when I tried to figure out my own address by writing four tildes and then view the preview page, it turned out that only the last digit was different from the vandal's address. Huh. Well, as long as you're properly logged in, even a block for your IP address should not affect you. To find out my current IP adress I usually use one of several web sites. One with an easy name is whatsmyip.org. By the way: no block was issued against 66.230.200.197 as the offender didn't continue vandalizing. NVCI technique: a "physical restraint" or not?

NVCI techniques do come under physical restraints, in that a physical restraint is rendering a person helpless and in captivity through the means of using a human as the "tool" of a restraint. The 'definition' from Physical restraint is "Physical restraint refers to the practice of rendering people helpless or keeping them in captivity by means such as handcuffs, shackles, straitjackets, ropes, straps, or other forms of physical restraint." Medical restraints are designed to not cause pain, and NVCI techniques share this as, IIRC, they are designed to be both safe and keeping the dignity of the person being restrained.

In addition to those, the quote from Medical restraint is "Medical restraints are generally used to prevent people with severe physical or mental disorders from harming themselves or others." which is inherent in what I do as a Residential Support Worker[3] and we use NVCI on a day to day basis in that respect. The added benefit of using NVCI techniques as opposed to more traditional means of restraint (shackles, etc.) is that there is much more dignity preserved.
