Guterman
[edit]Hi there. Thanks for joining WP. You'll need to be careful about following the rules. There's a rule called WP:3RR which must be observed. For changes to a page, you'll need to head to the Talk part of the page, e.g. Talk:Gerald_Guterman A WP entry is not supposed to be a puff piece. Rather, it must detail all of the relevant facts. Clearly, judging from the NY Times, Guterman is a controversial figure. There is no harm to Mr. Guterman in citing his financial troubles, as noted in America's most esteemed newspaper. [edit]Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. If you can't type the tilde character, you should click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! --SineBot (talk) 01:32, 21 June 2008 (UTC)
Thanks
[edit]Hello NetHistoryBuff5. Thanks for your explanation of recent edits over at Talk:Gerald Guterman. Have you also been working on the article as an IP? I ask because I left my request on an IP's talk page and you mention that I'd notified *you*. This is not a problem, I'm just trying to figure out the cast of characters. Guterman coming into shape.
[edit]Dear NHB5, Thanks for your contribs to Guterman. I think you've made some good additions. However, you also killed a ton of material, which I've now restored. It's not for you (especially as a newbie) to just delete well-referenced material.
You seem personally invested in the issue of Guterman--you are an editor with no other interests, seem to know a great deal about him (i.e. Vietnam issues), and care deeply about his reputation. I suspect you are a friend, family member, or employee of Guterman. This does not make you a good editor of this Wikipedia entry. You would do well to disclose you own relationship with Guterman.
Now, there's good reason to include bits about the QE2 and the millions made on masters' painting and so forth, but this is a man who was at the center of controversy in the 1980s. That doesn't slander the person: it's just a fact. If he's landed on his feet, more power to him. All information is now up, and people can think whatever they want. The sources, including the NYTimes, noted economist Bruno Frey, et cetera, are respectable and valuable.
From now on, please discuss your hopes on the Talk page and respect WP protocol. I.e. no wholesale editing. Cheers, Smilo Don (talk) 04:53, 25 June 2008 (UTC)
Please read, WP:COI. . Smilo Don (talk) 04:08, 7 July 2008 (UTC)

Issues--- moving forward with Guterman.
[edit]Dear NHB5, I can't bear these reverts. You've got to deal with the article as is, and make changes one by one. Your remarks about "felony" , for example, seem well placed. However, the task is to remove that one statement and move forward. Comments, for example, about the pros/cons of the art sale or the FBI investigation are quite legit and well referenced.
ALSO, you seem markedly and personally invested in Guterman: you do not seem like an impartial editor of this page. I ask you again to disclose your relationship to Guterman. Smilo Don (talk) 05:33, 27 June 2008 (UTC)
- Please tell me either your connection with Guterman or a reason not to do so.--Thanks, Ainlina(box)? 16:11, 8 July 2008 (UTC)
Please observe 3RR. Stop reverts, and use specific edits. Please observe WP protocol
[edit]Please read WP:3RR and edit by the rules. You are acting in a suspicious manner and you need to observe WP protocol. Smilo Don (talk) 02:53, 4 July 2008 (UTC)
Request for arbitration filed.
[edit]Dear NHB5, I have requested arbitration. Please visit http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Requests_for_arbitration#.7BGerald_Guterman.7D and please add your comments. Smilo Don (talk) 04:03, 7 July 2008 (UTC)
The LONG version is the one to begin to edit, not your prefered short version.
[edit]Dear NHB5, the long version of Gerald Guterman was created with much work , and it includes the work of ALL editors, including you. From this LONG version , we can then improve its content. Trashing the work and NYTimes citations of other editors isn't fair, and it isn't appropriate to WP.
And you still haven't addressed your WP:COI. You need to disclose.
I'm asking you to kindly work with the long version that all editors have created, and diclose your relationship to GG. Cheers, Smilo Don (talk) 03:43, 11 July 2008 (UTC)
What part is libel?
[edit]i don't understand your objection to the guterman piece? What part is libel ? You cut away the parts about the art collection--are those wrong? What about the other material ? How do these NYTimes articles harm Guterman ? And what's your relationship? Kindly play by the WP rules. Smilo Don (talk) 03:33, 14 July 2008 (UTC)
