September 2010 Backlog Elimination Drive Conclusion
Greetings from the Guild of Copy Editors September 2010 Backlog Elimination Drive. Thanks to all who participated! Several of our top editors were called away to real life concerns during the month (be careful out there, people!). This meant that once again, we did not meet all our lofty targets, but we did come close.
Barnstars
A huge "thank you" to all editors who helped clear the backlog and to others who helped out behind-the-scenes. See you at the next drive, and until then, please continue to help us work through the backlog. Happy editing! Coordinator: ɳorɑfʈ Talk! Co-coordinators: Diannaa (Talk) and S Masters (talk). Newsletter by Diannaa (Talk) and The UtahraptorTalk to me/Contributions. |
Delivered by MessageDeliveryBot on behalf of WikiProject Guild of Copy Editors at 07:20, 2 October 2010 (UTC).

Huggle
When you put an edit summary on Huggle, how does HG appear on the edit summary? Wayne Olajuwon chat 18:11, 10 October 2010 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker)The system automaticly does it, but you can do the like
. Here is the format: ([[Wikipedia:Huggle|HG]]). Nascar1996 18:16, 10 October 2010 (UTC)
- Yes, it is automatically added to edits made with Huggle. Even the reverts with a custom edit summary have the (HG) added to them. ~NerdyScienceDude 18:52, 10 October 2010 (UTC)
- I tried to reply on my user talk page with Huggle, but the HG didn't appear in the edit summary. Wayne Olajuwon chat 19:24, 10 October 2010 (UTC)

Not a typo
This looks like a false positive (compare 178,000 results to 1,860). Be sure not to accept AWB's typo fixes unless you are sure it is accurate. –xenotalk 20:49, 12 October 2010 (UTC)

A question
Hello, NSD. On the NASCAR race articles, am I only suppose to link a name in the article once, or in each section? When I am using AWB, it warns me if there are repeated links. Nascar1996 21:45, 14 October 2010 (UTC)
- From WP:REPEATLINK:
- In general, link only the first occurrence of an item. There are exceptions to this guideline, including these:
- where the later occurrence is a long way from the first.
- where the first link is in an infobox, navbox or similar meta-content.
- where the links are in a table, as each row should stand on its own.
- I haven't tried using the feature of AWB that removes repeated links. Hopefully the above helps. ~NerdyScienceDude 00:38, 15 October 2010 (UTC)
- It does, and thanks. I still have a question, from the introduction to the ending of the post-race be too long away from the original? Nascar1996 00:51, 15 October 2010 (UTC)

Ok change of request can you delete this ip address 92.27.196.125 off the St.philomena's article "edit history". I believe that you would be far more able than me as you probably know how to manually delete things where as I haven't a clue! I would pay you if I could! Thankyou! hemcouture —Preceding unsigned comment added by Hemcouture (talk • contribs) 21:35, 22 October 2010 (UTC)
- I don't have the power to revision delete your IP from the contribution list. You can ask an administrator to do it for you, but I don't think they will. Anyway, welcome to Wikipedia! ~NerdyScienceDude 01:05, 23 October 2010 (UTC)
Good or bad?
Did the changes I made to Red Bull Racing Team good or bad? Do you think its better with the car descriptions or season by seaso, and finaly, does it read like a news article? I would like your opinion. Thanks Nascar1996 03:43, 23 October 2010 (UTC)
- I think it looks good with the season by season prose, and it does not read like a news article in my opinion. ~NerdyScienceDude 01:59, 24 October 2010 (UTC)
- I believe it works better, too. The car by car didn't make that much sense in my opinion. I did it to this article because most of the others will take days to do, such as Hendrick Motorsports. Nascar1996 02:03, 24 October 2010 (UTC)

Article of the month – Alan Kulwicki, selected as a good article
Alan Dennis Kulwicki (December 14, 1954 – April 1, 1993), nicknamed "Special K" and the "Polish Prince", was an American NASCAR Winston Cup Series (now Sprint Cup Series) racecar driver. He started racing at local short tracks in Wisconsin before moving up to regional stock car touring series. Kulwicki arrived at NASCAR, the highest and most expensive level of stock car racing in the United States, with no sponsor, a limited budget, and only a racecar and a borrowed pickup truck. Despite starting with meager equipment and finances, he earned the 1986 NASCAR Rookie of the Year award over drivers racing for well-funded teams. After Kulwicki won his first race at Phoenix International Raceway, he debuted what would become his trademark "Polish Victory Lap". Kulwicki won the 1992 Winston Cup championship by what was then the closest margin in NASCAR history. He died early in 1993 in a light aircraft accident, and was unable to defend his championship. He has been inducted into numerous racing halls of fame and was named one of NASCAR's 50 Greatest Drivers. Kulwicki was known for being a perfectionist and doing things his own way. An engineer by trade, his scientific approach to NASCAR racing inspires the way teams are now run. Despite lucrative offers from top car owners, he insisted on driving for his own race team, AK Racing, during most of his NASCAR career. Described by his publicist as "a real hard type of person to get to know", he remained a bachelor throughout his life. Hello, when I was creating the newest section for the NASCAR portal, Portal:NASCAR/Championship standings, I wanted the third table to be below the others in the middle. However, it would squeeze inbetween the others. That table is hidden, and I was wondering if you would know how to fix it. Also, do you believe we should add colors to the tables that are similar to the portal colors? Thanks. Nascar1996 02:17, 30 October 2010 (UTC)
- Nevermind. I fixed the issue. Do you believe 2010 Price Chopper 400 is ready for GAN? If it is, why not you nominate it. I have two others (2010 Sylvania 300 & 2010 AAA 400) in the process. Nascar1996 14:15, 30 October 2010 (UTC)
