Over the years, we have been seeing people contesting on aspects like communal practices that are supposed to be respected, practised and carried forward by us as a legacy. What our grandfather told to our father is what we should obey and that is what we are supposed to tell our children. This is how you respect your elders and ultimately your beliefs including God.
People tend to be divided if their thoughts get divided.
Can we have a tamil calendar which begins with Thaii, Maasi, Panguni, Chithirai, Vaigasi, Aani, Aadi, Aavani, Purattasi, Aippasi, Karthigai & Marghazhi!!!!. Absurd.
In the pretext of getting popularity, politicians stoop to any level. Tomorrow, a politician in Tamilnadu might even say that Gregorian year must begin on Easter because Christ was born-again that day. He may also say that Islamic new year should be celebrated on Milad-ul-Nabi and not observed on Muharram. Do you think it will get accepted. No! never!
Why should Government of Tamilnadu still declare 14th April as a Government holiday? Should not every 1st day of the month be taken as Government holiday.
Respect your customs, practicies and whatever you remember out of those preached to you by your elders. Be happy.
