Article Feedback

[edit]

Hi @Nbrown16:

You are making good progress with this article; it's a little bit of a tough task to write about an album but this is coming along. One issue that I'm concerned about is that the tone of the article starts to sound a bit more like a music review rather than an encyclopedia article.

You could take a look at other albums to see how they manage this issue:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I%27ll_Be_Your_Girl

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/What_a_Terrible_World,_What_a_Beautiful_World

Those are a bit thin.

Here's an example of a very thorough article: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sgt._Pepper%27s_Lonely_Hearts_Club_Band

I don't expect you to write this much! But it might inspire you in some good directions -- the main thing I am noticing about how this album is handled is that every sentence in the song-description part has a solid citation.

Citing the lyrics themselves or a site like fandom isn't considered reliable -- what you want to pull from are music reviews from good sources, like Pitchfork, Rolling Stone, NPR Music.

Keep working!

Hi @Khascall:

Thank you for your feedback. I will make sure the tone strays away from sounding like a review and more like an encyclopedia article. I guess the only issue I found out that made this happen is that this EP has garnered very little attention compared to some of their other albums, so it has been difficult to find reliable sources that talk about this EP. I have a few sources however that will contribute better to the tone of the article, but it won't be as long as I expect it to be. I think I maybe should have assigned one the bands more prominent albums for better research. Oops! Again, thank you for your feedback and I'll tighten up the article as soon as possible. Go-Live Approval

[edit]

@Nbrown16: You are approved to go live with this article.

One thing to fix as you go live is the red errors in the references -- I think the two error messages are just about missing titles, which should be fixable if you click the reference number where it appears up in the text, and then update it in the wizard.

As a reminder, here are our go-live steps:

  1. Final read-through draft.
  2. Check live article for changes. [History Tab]
  3. Two browsers side by side, if you can. Source editing mode ("Code mode"), not visual editor.
  4. Paragraph by paragraph copy, leaving behind an explanatory edit summary after each chunk of changes.
  5. Note on article talk page.
  6. Note at the top of your sandbox version.
  7. Submit a link to your article on Canvas.
  8. Celebrate!

Article is Live!

[edit]

Additional information was added paragraph by paragraph to the live article. Left a note on the article talk page. Linked the sandbox draft in the edit summary.
