Rainelemental

[edit]

Hey NawlinWiki,

I'm a donation contributor of Wiki, I believe that should give me some benefits. Anyway you deleted the RainTPL page, which is a template engine, like Smarty. It's open source and no profit since 2007 and many developers uses it in their projects, also Rain_Framework which is on wiki in different language uses the RainTPL.

The page was deleted 3 times, the first time somebody wrote and reported it to me, the second time and the third I wrote the wiki, and I still don't understand what is wrong with it, because it's practically the same of Smarty pages, just with a small different description and different links.

Please let me know how to procede for the right direction

Thanks and Regards.

Hi, you deleted this page before it was completed. EMA is a signed artist with albums available on Amazon/Itunes. She is with a major record label and her albums have been reviews in the major press. She needs a wikipedia page for this reason. http://www.pitchfork.com/artists/29348-ema/ http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/2011/may/08/ema-past-life-martyred-saints-review http://www.amazon.co.uk/Past-Life-Martyred-Saints-Ema/dp/B004GLDNW6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1305666560&sr=8-1 Here are links to her reviews at pitchfork, and amazon. A Gorgeous Mess

[edit]

Hello NawlinWiki,

I hope you are well.

I had just done a page that was an experiment. I didn't have time to flesh it out so to speak and you promptly (to the second it seemed) deleted it siting Unambiguous advertising or promotion. Fair enough. But I want to know where can I practice writing a wiki article, with references, external links, and reliable sources for Erb and Erb? Secondly, how is it other companies, such as H.L. Staebler's have a site in wikipedia if this unambiguous promotion is an issue?

Thanks for your guidance.

Recreating article on Nous Infosystems

[edit]

Hi Nawlin, I had created and article on a firm called Nous Infosystems which was speedily deleted and lack of notability was quoted as the reason. Nous Infosystems is company with estimated revenues of USD 22 Million (as per a press release in 2007) and had over 700 employees in 2006 (as per a press release). Given its size in terms of revenues and number of employees, I believe the firm is notable for a wiki article and hence am recreating the article while adding references to all relevant articles. Please do drop me a message on my talk page if you believe more details/clarification is required.

Hi NawlinWiki. If you have a spare minute this week, could you look at 399 ? I'd like to re-enable it, but apparently it consumes too many conditions. Is there any obvious optimizations that can be done? Thanks, 28bytes (talk) 18:28, 4 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Nawlin. May I ask why you blacklisted hurryupharry.org for the activities of one runtshit, in November 2010? Why did you associate the former with the latter?

Having enquired, I understand he is likely to be one Stephen Plaut: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steven_Plaut

He has nothing to do with Harry's Place, indeed was banned from it from commenting in its threads.

Erie Anime Experience

[edit]

I want to know why you deleted erie anime experience page, if you don't allow anime convention pages then delete them all not just the ones you dislike. Now I know why the trade school I went to said not to trust anything on this site. You say to keep it neutral, the page was wrote with facts, that can be found on the EAE site as well as animecons.com and many more. Hi NawlinWiki,

Back in 2010, you deleted Bangor, Iowa as a G3: Blatant hoax. Although the material in the article was not well-written, the article is not a hoax, and the content in the article was pretty accurate. I have recreated the article, sourcing the new article to reliable sources, but wanted you to be aware that there was an issue with this speedy deletion. Hi NawlinWiki. I'm new to this Wikipedia stuff and could use some guidance. I don't quite get how to do it yet. My article DfR Solutions LLC was deleted. Can you delete other 'Blatent Advertising' Pages then???

[edit]

Hi, You deleted my page - OK, I can take that hit... But what I don't understand is why this page is allowed to stay: Anglian Home Improvements???

AmeliaVargo (talk) 11:32, 12 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks - I didn't know about the 'Other Stuff Exists' rule - I honestly only added the original page because the Anglian page was there... By the way, how can I get an article on my client added? They are a big UK company, so I don't think it's entirely unwarranted for them to have a page in Wikipedia - but obviously I don't want to waste you or any other wiki editor's time to write something only for it to be removed straight away... I've read the guidelines, but my problem was the client rewrote my article to such a degree that it wasn't the same article... I know you hate internet marketing types - but if you could help me do better, I would greatly appreciate it, and think Wikipedia would be better for it. Thank you. hippocrasy is one thing, pretending to be an open source is another

[edit]

This page in a nutshell: Wikipedia articles cover notable topics—those that have gained significant and enduring notice by the world at large, and are not excluded for other reasons. We consider evidence from reliable independent sources such as published journals, books, and newspapers to determine if the world has shown "significant enough notice" for an encyclopedia article. Notability does not directly affect the content of articles, but only their existence.

if thats the case why my article was rejected, I have used my 'source' for 6 months, it's a book and I even called the publishers! I feel sorry for wikipedia and perhaps I should write an article quoting wikipedia and it's ineptitude in doing the opposite of what it says it reason for living - try walking into a pizza joint clearly advertised as such but it turns out to be a public toilet —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mayanipony (talkcontribs) 06:56, 16 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

13:03, 17 May 2011 NawlinWiki (talk | contribs) deleted "Komikoo.com" ‎ (A7: No explanation of the subject's significance (real person, animal, organization, or web content): Multiple reasons: Speedy deletion criteria G11, A7)

[edit]

Hey Nawlin, You've speedily deleted my article: Komikoo.com. Could you please elaborate on the reasons you did it? If significance is the issue, I wonder if I put up the number of user the website has or the number of pageviews it generates per day would solve this problem? Also, Komikoo.com is the first member generated comic portal in Indonesia, this fact itself makes this website a considerable player in reviving the country's comic Industry. I think this is pretty significant in itself.

Will those facts help the eligibility of this article? If not, please let me know what I can do to make the article eligible.

Thanks in advance

AccuRev

[edit]

You deleted the article "AccuRev" I wrote earlier today citing G11 as the reason for deletion. As stated in G11, "An article about a company or a product which describes its subject from a neutral point of view does not qualify for this criterion." Using the WP:OTHERSTUFF argument, I believe this article is written in the same neutral tone as the following articles on similar topics: Perforce, MKS Integrity,StarTeam, Plastic SCM, IBM Rational Team Concert, IBM Rational ClearCase, Telelogic Synergy, and in fact, many other articles on commercial software. If you do not believe this style of writing qualifies as neutral, I ask that you delete these articles as well for the purpose of consistency. Please undelete Ariztical Entertainment. It is an article stub about a film production/distribution house. There were a dozen articles which linked to it, and several others which mentioned it, but did not link to it yet. I marked it as a stub, and was going to flesh out more of a page when I was able to track down everything that linked there. Of course, your deletion of the page hurts my ability to see what links there. I'm disappointed to see such careless, harmful editing. samwaltz (talk) 17:09, 25 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • The entire content of the article was "Ariztical Entertainment is a small film production/distribution company.". It stayed like that for an hour and a half. It's really not even worth it to post placeholder pages like that - just recreate the article when you have more to write (with, of course, sources showing how the company is notable per WP:CORP)). TwinStrata article deletion

[edit]

Hello, NawlinWiki-

I had recently created an article for TwinStrata, Inc. The article was deleted about a month ago due to A7: ...does not indicate the importance or significance of the subject. I would like to have a better understanding of how we didn't meet this requirement. StorSimple, a close competitor of ours, appears to have met the requirements for publishing, which leads me to believe that our article should as well.

Please help me to understand what we could do differently to republish the TwinStrata article with success.

Thank you for your consideration.

Hi! I'm what's called a talk page stalker ;). Let me see if I can help you out. I can't see your original article, but it was likily deleted for one of these two reasons: 1) It didn't have reliable sources to support the material, and/or 2) there was no claim of significance. That said, I think you can have an article. Doing a few google searches, I came up on several sources you could use. The strongest is going to be this article if the award pans out: that is to say your company wins. However, I have other sources such as here, and here. If you use these sources to build your article, and others that you may know of, you could potentially have an article. I think it's important to stress the significance of your cloud storage backup software as innovative and leading the market; similar to StorSimple. Good luck and happy editing!--v/r - TP 22:46, 25 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I just want to add on to my last sentence. By "stress the significance" I mean to use 3rd party NPOV sources that support the significance. Do not add promotional material.--v/r - TP 11:53, 26 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

User Humphreyking's contributions

[edit]

Hi, NawlinWiki! I noticed you appropriately redirected Seto Shmack and speedied Fold (band) created by Humphreyking (talk · contribs). Thanks for that. Could you also take a look at his other day-one contributions, viz.

The copyvio on that last one is a problem, but all the redlinks seem more ominous, as they do at Mujaji, which you rightly tagged for notability ). I think Shadow Records probably also needs to go. I saw nothing about it on Google, Google News (last 30 days), and just very little on Google News Archive.

Then there was this addition of 14 bands to the Downtempo article. Not quite sure what to make of that.

Looks to me like our new friend is some sort of PR agent. Sorry not to deal with this myself, but learning the "ropes" re bandspam, and figuring out which deletion criteria to use would for all these, let alone counselling their creator, would take me two hours, at least. Thanks; if you'd like to reply at all, you can do so here, as I've temporarily watchlisted this page. Best,  – OhioStandard (talk) 17:22, 26 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

RevDel request

[edit]

Please RevDel this edit under CFRD #2, if possible. This edit by the same user is borderline but only identifies the subject by a rather common first name and thus might not fall under the criteria, but I'd like you to adjudicate. Thanks. —KuyaBriBriTalk 16:56, 27 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Those two links are to the same edit, but I've RevDel'd it and the user's other edit (which was borderline, but given the first...) and blocked the user. Nobody needs a warning to relaise that that's not acceptable behaviour. Just FYI, it's usually best to send RevDel requests by email to an admin or admins you know are active, so that as few people as possible see the edit (and to avoid the Streisand effect). How can that be an 'expired PROD', when it was only created a few hours ago?  Chzz  ►  13:59, 28 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Are you certain it met the A7 requirement? I thought it had some claim (I don't exactly remember) about an award, and there was at least one ref that I think sounded reasonable. The author was showing a willingness to at least try to improve the article - see User talk:StormFerrari - so speedy deletion seems a bit bitey?  Chzz  ►  15:22, 28 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I just don't see the claim to bona fide notability here. He won an award that appears to be just recognition (in a Youtube video) by a single other musician. The only independent source (the Ultima Music link) is a review on a blog. He's unsigned, entirely self-produced, and doesn't appear to meet any of the WP:MUSIC criteria. NawlinWiki (talk) 17:43, 28 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
re. WP:MUSIC - I quote from A7, "even if the claim is not supported by a reliable source or does not qualify on Wikipedia's notability guidelines"  Chzz  ►  01:00, 29 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Pardon me for dropping in, but if the article stated he won an award, that was enough to pass A7 in my view. I would therefore request the article be undeleted and either prodded or sent to AFD to let consensus decide.   ArcAngel   (talk) ) 01:23, 29 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you (sincerely) and - I hope this won't sound like I'm a wonk, but... would you mind telling the article creator about the AfD? Just that, if I do, it's 'from' the wrong person, as it were. Ta. Honestly, thanks.  Chzz  ►  03:01, 29 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks again. Really really, I'm not taking the piss here; the artist may or may not be notable, but the new user seems to be making efforts to imrpove it. Maybe it'll be deleted / userfied, maybe he'll become notable in a year or two, who knows. a 15 year old guitar player; borderline/dubious N but that isn't the point; new user was learning good stuff. Maybe StormFerrari (talk · contribs) will get interested in Wikipedia, and add some good stuff. I admit, 99/100 that won't happen - but it's the 1% I work on.
Cheers,  Chzz  ►  03:14, 29 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion of Vallum Award for Poetry

[edit]

Dear NawlinWiki, I noticed you deleted The Vallum Award for Poetry from the Poetry Awards page. Please note that our contest is one of the bigger contests in Canada. Vallum: New International Poetics is a very well-respected poetry journal in Canada which publishes many Americans and other international poets. We are exlusively publishers of poetry and have a national distribution and supply our magazines to chain literary outlets like Chapters/Indigo and Borders. We have published very famous poets like: Paul Muldoon, Franz Wright, Charles Simic, Erin Mourse, Stephen Dunn, Fanny Howe, George Elliott Clarke, Les Murray, John Kinsella, and many many more famous poets. We advertise in the American Poetry Review and in Poetry Magazine, two respected and established American magazines. I realize that the Canadian poetry community is not as big as the American one, but Vallum magazine is one of Canada's best journals that holds an annual contest which is far superior to the Shaunt Basmajinian Chapbook contest, for instance. We, here at Vallum, would humbly appreciate it very much if you can undelete our entry. I am not sure if I will receive an answer from you or how to look for one on Wiki. Thank you for being vigilant with Wiki entries, and I hope you will continue to be an effective administrator. Sincerely, Eleni at Vallum magazine. Eleniz (talk) 02:02, 30 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Two O'Clock Lab Band

[edit]

Looking for some leniency ... Would it be permissible to add back the musicians (the ones you removed that don't yet have a wp entry)? I can add them back hyper linked or not hyper linked. They are notable; and listing them serves as a reminder to editors to build entries. Those poor jazzers are more esoteric than pop-musicians but, nonetheless, are worthy of editorial advocacy. My sense is that the notoriety litmus test we seek for popular artists is relaxed for chamber musicians and jazz artists. The jazzers in question are established recording artist or jazz educators or both. Their bios (on the hyperlinks) serve as a bare-bones, self-evident indicator of notoriety that eventually should be developed. To a degree, listing the names (with hyperlinks) also supports the notoriety of the entry. Eurodog 17:38, 31 May 2011 (UTC)
