User talk:NascragMan
Welcome to Wikipedia, we hope you'll stay and contribute more. Thank you for correcting some of the facts regarding NASCRAG in the Gen Con article. A note on adding external links to Wikipedia articles: We try to keep the link lists short and directly relevant. You added a link to NASCRAG's web site with this edit. It's been removed since NASCRAG's web site is not directly relevant for Gen Con. If we linked to every group that came to Gen Con on a regular basis, the list would grow out of control. Instead, I would suggest following the NASCRAG link and creating an article about NASCRAG. A link to NASCRAG's official web site is not only appropriate but desired on an article about NASCRAG. License tagging for Image:Littletoby.gif
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Littletoby.gif. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Removed reference to Fear of Girls in NASCRAG
[edit]I just wanted let you know why I removed "(who appeared in the short film: Fear of Girls)" from NASCRAG. You added that entry in this edit. The film isn't about NASCRAG. That NASCRAG's MC was in the film doesn't really shed any light on NASCRAG itself. It's off topic. — Alan De Smet | Talk 00:55, 4 April 2007 (UTC)
As was bound to happen, the more deletion happy editors are noticed NASCRAG. And since they don't know about it, it clearly must not be notable. Unfortunately Wikipedia's guidelines are biased in favor of deletion and the onus falls on those who would keep the article there. I've added the only third-party citation I could find (an article from Indianapolis Monthly), but really one or two more citations would make the article safe. Given that I suspect that you're involved with NASCRAG, you might might try hitting up the other NASCRAG folks for clippings they may have kept. Perhaps a few paragraphs in Polyhedron or Dragon. — Alan De Smet | Talk 00:07, 15 September 2007 (UTC)
- I just stumbled across the "Nascrag in Dragon Magazine" thread at Gencon.com. That, for example, would be perfect. Indeed, if it's a dedicated article with at least a few paragraphs, it would probably be enough to seal the deal. Ideally you'd use it to cite a few claims in NASCRAG (perhaps adding claims from the article). — Alan De Smet | Talk 00:10, 15 September 2007 (UTC)
Do I need to put a scan of the article on-line somewhere?--NascragMan (talk) 18:10, 9 April 2008 (UTC)
DPI
[edit]You listed Image:Fezcovers.jpg as being "72 dpi". I'm assuming the original covers would be 8.5" tall, and they're now 131 pixels high. That would be closer to 15 dpi (which is good, in a strange way, because it makes the fair use claim all the stronger, since it's so low resolution). If they're closer to 8.5" tall originally, you might want to correct te DPI listing. — Alan De Smet | Talk 06:00, 10 April 2008 (UTC)
I scanned them, put them together, resized them, and everything myself. The final DPI is 72 via the "save for web" feature. (15 dpi would be a chunky blue smear). Of course if you resized the 131 pixel image to 8.5 inches, it would indeed be about 15 dpi. Is that what you mean? --NascragMan (talk) 15:31, 14 April 2008 (UTC)
- I've replied over at User talk:Alan De Smet#Nascrag to your question. — Alan De Smet | Talk 06:05, 10 April 2008 (UTC)
Orphaned non-free media (Image:Littletoby.gif)
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Littletoby.gif. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. NotifyBot (talk) 12:32, 17 April 2008 (UTC)

Managing a conflict of interest
[edit]Hello, NascragMan. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places, or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic, and it is important when editing Wikipedia articles that such connections be completely transparent. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. In particular, we ask that you please:
- avoid editing or creating articles related to you and your family, friends, school, company, club, or organization, as well as any competing companies' projects or products;
- instead, you are encouraged to propose changes on the Talk pages of affected article(s) (see the {{request edit}} template);
- when discussing affected articles, disclose your COI (see WP:DISCLOSE);
- avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or to the website of your organization in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
- exercise great caution so that you do not violate Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).
Please take a few moments to read and review Wikipedia's policies regarding conflicts of interest, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, sourcing and autobiographies. Thank you. Grayfell (talk) 01:32, 17 September 2016 (UTC)
