Well, you are not obliged to consult anyone, but it obviously makes sense since I'm the most likely person to delete it again. I assume you are working on it offline, since I can't see a draft in your contributions, but if you move it to a sandbox, I'd be happy to comment if you want me to. As well as writing in your own words, you need to provide independent verifiable sources to enable us to verify the facts and show that he meets the notability guidelines. The article should be written in a non-promotional tone and be neutral and encyclopaedic. Avoid opinions and weasel words like famous... well known etc Good luck Jimfbleak - talk to me? 06:33, 17 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Comments

[edit]

The article has references now, but still has a couple of issues.

  • You should look at the music notability guidelines. You could improve the claim of notability by including chart positions or record sales/downloads
  • The tone of the piece is a bit hagiographic, sprinkled with weasel words like well received and cemented his reputation. Although you have referenced these, the credibility of the references is not always clear. I have no idea why the opinion of "Bright Young Folk" caries any weight
  • It's normal in this sort of article to present the verifiable facts first and then have a section headed "Reception" for the media opinions. The credibility of that section would be greatly reviewed if you included negative reviews or comments, it looks very selective at it is.

You have done enough to avoid speedy deletion, but it's possible that it could be nominated for a deletion discussion. Anything you could do to beef up notability and make the tone less like a press release would be helpful Jimfbleak - talk to me? 06:42, 21 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I think the problem with many websites is that it's not always clear how reliable they are because it's not transparent who is running them, how they are financed or who can edit. I have no reason to dount your claim about Bright Young Things, but it wasn't obvious to me who was running it or how credible the reviews are. There are hundreds of review sites, some of which are basically one persons opinion. I'm just trying to make the point that you should try to make the article as secure as you can in terms of referencing and tone to avoid further problems. If I were you, I would mention the awards in the lead section as well as in the text. That is what his notability rests on, so you want reviewers to see that straight away. It looks OK, but at some stage you will have to take the plunge and see what happens Jimfbleak - talk to me? 15:57, 1 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
