Your question
[edit]Hi Nadirhasan, I saw that article you created asking about how you can make sure an article you create won't be deleted. In future if you have any questions, please don't create an article to ask them, but instead follow the relevant links at the New contributors' help page or ask me on my talk page. As to creating an article, there are several paths you can take. You can create the article in your user space, eg at User:Nadirhasan/Title of article here, where you can develop it in your own time without any threat of it being deleted. Alternatively you can use the Article wizard to create an article (just follow the steps on that page). Whichever option you choose, please do let me know if you have any questions and I'll try to assist you as best I can. Cheers, Jenks24 (talk) 04:57, 6 July 2011 (UTC)
Thank you so much for your help Jenks24. I will post the article to my talk page. Can you see it there as well?
Nadirhasan (talk) 02:11, 7 July 2011 (UTC)
- Yep, if you post the article here to your talk page I'll be able to see it. Alternatively, you could create User:Nadirhasan/New article and I'll have a look at it their. Either is fine. Cheers, Jenks24 (talk) 02:30, 7 July 2011 (UTC)
Hi Jenks24,
I just posted it at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Nadirhasan/Henry_Dunay. I really appreciate your feedback. Thanks for your time;)
Nadirhasan (talk) 03:39, 7 July 2011 (UTC)
- No worries :) I've just had a quick glance and the subject seems notable to me, so I doubt it would be deleted. I'll have a more detailed look shortly. Cheers, Jenks24 (talk) 03:44, 7 July 2011 (UTC)
- Ok, I've just finished my tweaking of the article and I've got some comments:
- Really good article for your first attempt, I was very impressed :)
- The article needs a lead section. See WP:LEAD for details, but basically it's just a concise summary of the the article.
- In the early life section, what does "At the age of 18, fulfilling his dream of branding himself Henry changed his last name to Dunay. Dunay his mother’s maiden name was short and memorable." mean? I couldn't quite understand it.
- "In 1967, a Pan American Games medalist"—did Dunay win a Pan American Games medal? That's quite interesting and could hopefully be expanded a bit (eg what sport did he play?)
- Please don't take this the wrong way, but the article is very positive in tone; are there any sources that are at all critical of Dunay?
- We generally refer to the subject of the article by the their last name, not their first name (I've changed this in the draft, but this is just something you might want to know for future articles)
- Please note that these 'issues' are not something that would mean the article would be deleted, just improvements I can think of. Please don't be daunted by anything I've said, these are just suggestions. On the other hand, if you want more ideas, I can probably make some more pedantic suggestions. Cheers, Jenks24 (talk) 05:23, 7 July 2011 (UTC)

Hi Jenks24,
Thanks again for all of your time. No worries I appreciate the criticism. Here is an answer to your questions? Really good article for your first attempt, I was very impressed :) See WP:LEAD for details, but basically it's just a concise summary of the the article. ( I will add this) In the early life section, what does "At the age of 18, fulfilling his dream of branding himself Henry changed his last name to Dunay. Dunay his mother’s maiden name was short and memorable." mean? I couldn't quite understand it. ( He changed his name because he knew people would not remember it. I will expand this section to further clarify the reasoning for the change.) "In 1967, a Pan American Games medalist"—did Dunay win a Pan American Games medal? That's quite interesting and could hopefully be expanded a bit (eg what sport did he play?) (He did win a medal at the Pan Am games for swimming. I will dedicate a further explanation of this in a line or two.)
Please don't take this the wrong way, but the article is very positive in tone; are there any sources that are at all critical of Dunay? (I really didn't find any sources that were negative about Dunay in any way. Do you think this will hurt the article?) We generally refer to the subject of the article by the their last name, not their first name (I've changed this in the draft, but this is just something you might want to know for future articles) Thank you. I will use that practice. Thanks again for all of your help. It is difficult being new to Wikipedia. Truly grateful! Sincerely,

Replaceable fair use File:Henry Dunay portrait.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Henry Dunay portrait.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information or which could be adequately covered with text alone. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the media description page and edit it to add
{{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template. - On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. We hope (talk) 21:46, 26 July 2011 (UTC)
Hi,
Thanks for your help. I'm a bit confused on how to tag the pictures? I obtain the photo's directly from the subject of my article himself (Henry Dunay). Henry Dunay has permission to use the photos and he allowed me use them for this article. What tag do I need to use in order to show that I have permission. I also have emails that state I have the permission to use these photos. Any help would be much obliged.
Nadirhasan (talk) 16:27, 27 July 2011 (UTC)
- You need to get in touch with OTRS: Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission to submit the information you have. After you've made contact with OTRS with your information, you can then add the template shown here to the file. We hope (talk) 14:57, 29 July 2011 (UTC)
Removing tags from files

File source problem with File:Elizabeth Taylor holding the Lachrymosa mask.jpg
[edit]Thank you for uploading File:Elizabeth Taylor holding the Lachrymosa mask.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.
If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.
Please refer to the image use policy to learn what images you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. Please also check any other files you have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 11:54, 11 August 2011 (UTC)

File permission problem with File:Journalist Roberta Naas.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Journalist Roberta Naas.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.
If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either
- make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
- Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.
If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.
If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 07:39, 28 March 2014 (UTC)
The article Roberta Naas has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
heavily promotional article; flagged as non-notable since 2015
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. ~TPW 14:25, 20 June 2022 (UTC)
