Thanks, but...

[edit]

Your comment on talk:HIV is certainly interesting and informative. It certainly raises meatpuppeting concerns as well as issues related to POV-pushing a fringe theory. Most editors who have had contact with Mr. Swanson have long since realized he's an AIDS denialist and treat his edits accordingly. And don't worry, we don't like fringe theories or people who push them here, and we have policies that highlight how important it is to summarize the mainstream scientific opinion and deprecate nutters. So no chance of Wikipedia turning into an AIDS denialist mouthpiece.

All that however, but note we do have concerns about civility, personal attacks, and outing (though him using his real name makes that last one less of a concern). Thank you for the information, but if there is more background you have with Mr. Swanson or knowledge of his off-wiki activities, please do not post it publicly. Much as rumour and personal communications can't be used to justify changing a page, we must also deal with the substance of an individual's edits rather than rejecting the argument or source because of who said it.

Thanks, WLU (t) (c) Wikipedia's rules:simple/complex 01:14, 17 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
