before the question. Again, welcome! -- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 11:38, 18 October 2013 (UTC)
Your user name
[edit]Welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that your username, "NATO-Legal", may not meet Wikipedia's username policy because because it carries the impression that you are an organization or group along with an implicit violation of our no legal threats policy. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. As an alternative, you may ask for a change of username, or you may simply create a new account for editing. Thank you.. -- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 11:38, 18 October 2013 (UTC)
There is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents regarding an issue with which you may have been involved. Thank you. -- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 11:45, 18 October 2013 (UTC)
Your username is the only reason for this block. You are welcome to choose a new username (see below) and continue editing.
A username should not be promotional, related to a "real-world" group or organization, misleading, offensive or disruptive. Also, usernames may not end in the word "bot" unless the account is an approved bot account.
You are encouraged to choose a new account name that meets our policy guidelines and create the account yourself. Alternatively, if you have already made edits and you wish to keep your existing contributions under a new name, then you may request a change in username by:
- Adding
{{unblock-un|your new username here}}
on your user talk page. You should be able to do this even though you are blocked, as you can usually still edit your own talk page. If not, you may wish to contact the blocking administrator by clicking on "E-mail this user" on their talk page. - At an administrator's discretion, you may be unblocked for 24 hours to file a request.
- Please note that you may only request a name that is not already in use, so please check here for a listing of already taken names. The account is created upon acceptance, thus do not try to create the new account before making the request for a name change. For more information, please see Wikipedia:Changing username.
- Adding
{{unblock|Your reason here}}
, but you should read our guide to appealing blocks first. SmartSE (talk) 12:01, 18 October 2013 (UTC)Not just your username
[edit]Since you are already blocked as 81.240.180.58 (talk · contribs) you should not have created an account to get around that block. Whilst the primary reason that I blocked you was due to your username, block evasion would be a reason to block you regardless of your username. Please take some time off editing. SmartSE (talk) 12:06, 18 October 2013 (UTC)
- If you took time to read my TALK page you will see why I created a user account and also that I self-imposed upon myself voluntarily that I will NOT CONTINUE TO UPLOAD ANY TEXT to the articles anywhere. I even wrote about this EXPLICITELY on my talk page. I only asked to be able to RESPOND to the discussions being held about ME elsewhere on several pages and to which I could not respond. So, there is no CIRCUMVENTING of any sort. I clearly restricted my activity to a set of 4 pages where I was being 'shot down' without any means to respond. Do you understand ? 81.240.147.136 (talk) 12:13, 18 October 2013 (UTC)
- A block is a complete block from editing, not a block from adding content - there is no room for negotiation. If you want to respond to discussions about you, do so at User_talk:81.240.180.58 (as you already have done). SmartSE (talk) 12:23, 18 October 2013 (UTC)
- Chiming in here: Yes, NATO-Legal, this is block evasion, no matter how well meant and open. A block applies to the editor. Serve out your time on the IP block, then apply for a rename. It will all wait for a day or so. Yngvadottir (talk) 13:01, 18 October 2013 (UTC)
- And more chiming: when Yngvadottir speaks, I usually listen--they are absolutely correct. The name violates our policy, the block applies to you. Ride it out and request an appropriate user name, then we can get back to business. Drmies (talk) 14:48, 18 October 2013 (UTC)
