Re: Data Crystal

[edit]

There's no way of "taking over" for an inactive or dead wiki. Your best bet is contacting whoever is a bureaucrat on the site, but if you've tried that and gone nowhere... that's it.

If it was Wikia, you could at least contact someone higher up and have yourself appointed bureaucrat. But for any other wiki out there in the wild, you're out of luck. Sorry. EVula // talk // // 16:35, 10 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

That and I'm not sure how en.wiki bureaucrats could help. We have no association with that project. Also, you can fix up the project if you want to without being a bureaucrat. I'd say just keep trying to contact the site administrators (look up the website's registration for example) and just work on the site as a regular user if you want to. - Taxman Talk 16:53, 10 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, it's an entirely different project. Your only hope is to check this list and contact all of its crats. bibliomaniac15 17:52, 10 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the help, I will continue trying to contact a bureaucrat on Data Crystal.--MỸŠŦЄЯỸЊӘҒҒ (talk) 09:19, 11 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A bureaucrat is not the only person you can contact. They may not be the same as the people that run the website. Here for example there are sysadmins that keep the servers running and we bureaucrats just have a technical ability to promote admins and a few other things, not much really. - Taxman Talk 13:30, 11 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Just poking around the site basically. Here is the WHOIS data for the site, but it doesn't seem like it will be that helpful. It may be better to try looking for a webmaster link or just emailing webmaster@datacrystal.org or admin@, etc.
