Do not fix links that are not broken
[edit]Hi Myspersson, and thanks for your recent contributions. I noticed though, that you've been changing some links that go to redirects into links directly to the article. For example, in this edit: [1] you changed links from Afro-Honduran to Afro-Honduran, Protestant to Protestant, Mesoamerican to Mesoamerican, and other similar changes, even though the redirects work fine. I see you've done that in several other articles too.
It's not necessary to change such redirect links just to avoid the redirect. Generally you should not "fix" links to redirects that are not broken. There is nothing wrong with a link that goes to a redirect instead of directly to a page. In many cases it's helpful to have such a link, and replacing it can actually be detrimental to Wikipedia. See WP:NOTBROKEN for more details.
It's also not necessary to change an existing piped link just to capitalize the first character, as you did in this edit: [2], changing 18 integral regions to 18 integral regions and unitary to unitary. Doing so is a waste of your time, because the first character of a link is not case-sensitive, see MOS:PIPE. It's also a waste of the time of other editors who may be checking your edits. Thanks for your understanding... --IamNotU (talk) 01:15, 29 August 2020 (UTC)
- I make the links clearer. There is no point in the link going through the redirect Mesoamerican instead of directly to Mesoamerica. In the cases where I capitalize the first letter, the link is not visible visually, so there is also no point in it saying regions of France and unitary state because the pages are called Regions of France and Unitary state.
