License tagging for Image:Nicole-richie-vanity-fair04ll.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Nicole-richie-vanity-fair04ll.jpg. Wikipedia gets hundreds of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:
This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 05:06, 12 June 2006 (UTC)

More Pictures
[edit]You said: "For the images of Brad Pitt, Nicole Richie, and Peter Wentz. I have seen many other images been acceptable from magazine prints, the Brad Pitt Image shouldn't even be in question because it is a movie still, a movie is something that ANYONE can own. Peter Wentz has no picture, and it is important for him to have a head shot on his article. Nicole Richie also has no pictures, and that Vanity Fair article was an important event on her life, if you feel that what I chose as the copyright is incorrect, then please change it, or make a note of it, but you shouldn't have removed the images. thank you."
- Your license tags were blatantly false. Also, you cannot just use scans from the insides of magazines. Such images are not permitted on Wikipedia. Additionally, you have not been providing the detailed fair-use rationale required for fair-use images. I encourage you to read up some more on image copyright before uploading any more images. Thanks. --Yamla 17:27, 12 June 2006 (UTC)

Copyright violation
[edit]You recently uploaded Image:Wmagcovbrad.JPG and added it to the article on Brad Pitt. This is not fair-use for that article, however, as the image may only be used to illustrate the publication of the issue of the magazine in question. As the article on Brad Pitt doesn't even mention this magazine even once, this image may not be used in the article. --Yamla 04:08, 5 July 2006 (UTC)
Image copyright problem with Image:Stjr.JPG
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Stjr.JPG. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).
The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}
.
Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me, or ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Yamla 04:13, 5 July 2006 (UTC)

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Tpgrace.jpg)
[edit]This media may be deleted.
|
Thanks for uploading Image:Tpgrace.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image can be used under a fair use license. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Yamla 04:15, 5 July 2006 (UTC)
Copyright violation
[edit]I reverted your edits to Playgirl. As you know, adding a copyrighted image without providing an acceptable fair-use rationale is a copyright violation. --Yamla 04:17, 5 July 2006 (UTC)
Was just moving the image to playgirl since I deleted it from Brad Pitt didn't want to offend the person who uploaded it.Myrockstar 05:38, 5 July 2006 (UTC)
- Besides if you said it yourself on the image "Image may ONLY be used to illustrate the publication of the issue in question. It may not be used to illustrate the magazine generally and may not be used solely to depict the actor in question. " Why was it removed from the Playgirl article where it clearly makes mention of it. Myrockstar 07:54, 5 July 2006 (UTC)

- While there is no doubt that the image would be appropriate on the article about Playgirl, it does need a detailed fair-use rationale. You are right that the article makes explicit mention of that particular issue. --Yamla 15:28, 5 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit]You said: "There is now a mention of the notable event for which I intended to use the image in question on the article of Brad Pitt."

Image:Nrview.jpg
[edit]You said: "You said "Was being used to depict person, not to talk about that episode of The View."" Thats exactly right, I used to image to depict Nicole Richie and not the episode of the view. If I am wrong in putting the image, please direct me to the place where it says it's only correct to use an image of a television show to talk about the show itself."
- Sure. See Image:Nrview.jpg. The license itself says "for identification and critical commentary on the station ID or the program and its contents". Note specifically that it does NOT allow you to use it solely to depict the person involved, as it was being used. You could place the image lower down in the page, attached to a section which specifically discusses her appearance on The View. But you cannot use it as the main image depicting Ms. Richie. --Yamla 15:28, 5 July 2006 (UTC)
Again, thanks
[edit]Myrockstar, I just want to say that it is refreshing to see an editor like you make an honest attempt to use images according to copyright. While you have made a few mistakes here and there, you are not getting angry when these are pointed out and you are clearly working hard to understand what the heck I'm talking about. Thank you, I appreciate it. --Yamla 15:29, 5 July 2006 (UTC)

W Magazine Cover
[edit]We obviously have a difference of opinions here. Where Kate Moss is probably the ultimate representation of the magazine, where the editors/writers/photographers themselves have all stated so and Britney Spears just doesn't fit with the High Fashion idea. If you don't like this particular cover than I will switch it up with one of the other 28. I could still somehow include the Britney shot around there if you really love it so much. Bang Bang you're Dead
- One other Kate Moss cover you mean? My image has no more fair use than yours. Also, I know what a "typical" cover of W magazine looks like and it's just ridiculous for you to think a cover with Britney Spears is it. Clearly, this is about your pov, when mine is based off fact. Where you probably are Britney lover, I simply want the magazine to be represented right. Bang Bang you're Dead
- It is very very common for the covers to not be white and the makeup to not be dramatic. I could give numerous examples. I am not a Kate lover as you say, I just happen to know a bit b/c I love and know the magazine! Bang Bang you're Dead
- Yes, that sounds like the best idea. I'll look around now for better references and the like. Bang Bang You're Dead 20:34, 17 July 2006 (UTC)

Image:Fantasyperfume.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Fantasyperfume.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the image description page and edit it to add
{{Replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template. - On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Extraordinary Machine 16:44, 13 February 2007 (UTC)

On your deletions on Britney Spears' segment - 2007 personal problems
[edit]Please stop deleting out the details about events that have reliable sources. It looks as if you'r working to preserve your personal view of Spears and not being neutral. These details have been included by several reliable news sources covering the issue and several editors have been working to include them in the article and you keep arbitrarily declaring that its "too much information" and deleting them.
- Please look at the following Wikipedia standard found at WP:LIVING
- (emphasis added) "In the case of significant public figures, there will be a multitude of reliable, third-party published sources to take information from, and Wikipedia biographies should simply document what these sources say. If an allegation or incident is notable, relevant, and well-documented by reliable published sources, it belongs in the article — even if it's negative and the subject dislikes all mention of it."
Read your statement on the talk page and have responded there.--Wowaconia 22:01, 24 February 2007 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Britstages.JPG
[edit]Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Britstages.JPG. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
