GTrang (talk) 23:00, 10 June 2024 (UTC)Guestbook Barnstars
[edit]Hi, on your Guestbook I noticed that you said you'd give out the Random Acts of Kindness Barnstar for signing your guestbook... while that is very nice of you and everything, WP:GUESTBOOK it says Don't give barnstars out just for signing a guestbook. It devalues the barnstar process.
I'm not sure if it's talking about the regular Barnstar or all of them in particular, but I'd remove that and stop (if you haven't already) giving out Barnstars for signing. Again this is all friendly I'm just leaving you a note :D (and yes, I signed your guestbook!). Cheers, GoldRomean (talk) 01:18, 11 June 2024 (UTC)
PS: If you have time, could you possibly teach me a thing or two about custom sigs? Nothing to extreme, just very basic stuff. I'm pretty bad at WikiMarkup and that kind of stuff. GoldRomean (talk) 01:18, 11 June 2024 (UTC)
- @GoldRomean Ok, thanks for the information. It was just that I saw another user giving barnstars for signing guestbooks, so I thought it was a great idea. I've removed it now, and thanks for signing it!
- I started my signatures as the default (which is your user name and the talk button, as you have now). I'm on my alternate account right now. If you look at my other signatures from this page, I used colors. If you look at User talk:Myrealnamm#Your signature, you can see RedRose's feedback on signatures. At first I used {{subst:COLOR|red|hello}} and replaced "red" with HEX codes, such as #0085BD, and hello with my text, to produce something like this:
- Myrealnamm
- However, if you edit source, you can see it adds a bunch of stuff like "</span> and class="tmp-color" , which might exceed 425 characters in length (which is the limit for number of characters in your signature), so I tried to remove those codes and used the sandbox for testing, until I made my text within 425 characters. Then, you can go to Special:Preferences and go to the Signature section to insert WikiText there. Be sure to select Treat the above as wiki markup. otherwise it will not work.
- REMEMBER: Applying color is only one way of customizing your signature, there are also many other ways to customise your signature. I would recommend taking a look at WP:SIGNATURE and Help:Wikitext. They've helped me. Myrealnamm's Alternate Account (talk) 12:45, 11 June 2024 (UTC)
- @Myrealnamm Okay, I totally understand. Thanks for the helpful stuff with the signatures! GoldRomean (talk) 12:54, 11 June 2024 (UTC)
- Pssss. I'm also not good with Wikitext. @GoldRomean........... Myrealnamm's Alternate Account (talk) 12:56, 11 June 2024 (UTC)
