ArbCom 2023 Elections voter message

Hello! Voting in the 2023 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 11 December 2023. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2023 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:48, 28 November 2023 (UTC)

Pending changes reviewer granted

Hello. Your account has been granted the "pending changes reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on pages protected by pending changes. The list of articles awaiting review is located at Special:PendingChanges, while the list of articles that have pending changes protection turned on is located at Special:StablePages.

Being granted reviewer rights neither grants you status nor changes how you can edit articles. If you do not want this user right, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time.

Brandsbutt Stone Edit

Hi. You have removed my addition to the text on the Brandsbutt Stone Page at Brandsbutt Stone.

I wrote "The Ogham script spells ‘Iratadd o Arens’. From modern Welsh into English it translates to 'Irritated of kidney/ blood'. It can therefore be assumed, due to the snake image, that this could refer to someone who may have been poisoned by a snake (adder/viper)."

This is a straight translation from modern Welsh along with a statement clearly forwarded as conjecture - "this could" and "may have been". I do not understand the need for a citation or how a citation can be used. Would a Welsh dictionary reference be acceptable?

Elements of the following statement found upon the same page do not offer citations/references for - The Newton Stone (IDDARRNNN) and The Scoonie Stone (EDDARRNONN).

"Other examples of the name Ethernan being preserved on Pictish stones include, in Ogham, The Newton Stone (IDDARRNNN), Rodney's Stone (EDDARRNON) and The Scoonie Stone (EDDARRNONN), and, in Latin script, The Fordoun Stone (PIDARNOIN)." Caradac Mab Cwnomabelyn (talk) 21:05, 16 February 2024 (UTC)

I have the following reference but as of yet unsure as to how to configure it in wiki:

Geiriadur Prifysgol Cymru / A Dictionary of the Welsh Language www.geiriadur.ac.uk/gpc/gpc.html Published 1982 iradedd [irad +-edd] Eg. Ansawdd neu gyflwr galarus, galarusrwydd, gresyni, trueni: The quality or state of mourning, regret, pity: Ruefulness, grievousness, wretchedness. [1783] W d.g. ruefulness. 1803 P, iradedd, ruefulness, grievousness. iradedd o aren iratat o arens

Update: 22:59 16/02/24 I think I managed to configure references correctly and have re-presented the contribution.

ban

Hey could you please remove the warnings all of that infomation was facts and true

please unban me thanks Adasdaddadafgwqgjkahguajk (talk) 19:11, 21 February 2024 (UTC)

You aren't banned. Do you expect to be?   –Skywatcher68 (talk) 19:29, 21 February 2024 (UTC)
You're not banned. And even if you were, I can't unblock you. Only administrators can block and unblock.
Do you have a reliable source backing up your claims? My Pants Metal (talk) 20:41, 21 February 2024 (UTC)
Going back and looking at your edits, I will admit giving you a final warning for this edit seems a bit harsh and probably some bad faith on my end, even if your edit was unsourced. However, your edits such as this one and this one are vandalism and were rightly reverted.
As a compromise, I'll remove the level 4 warning from your talk page, but I'll keep the level 3 warning. Just be careful editing going forward. One or two more bad faith edits, and you will be blocked. My Pants Metal (talk) 20:48, 21 February 2024 (UTC)

Thank you for the heads up. I have added references, the majority of my edits come from a single large source of information. If you notice any incited information I can go back and find the reference 2001:1970:4AE5:A300:5447:C8DA:5C49:E5A8 (talk) 15:48, 11 March 2024 (UTC)

Maya Americans

Just because Jessica Alba has distant Mayan ancestry does not mean that she is a good fit to represent Maya Americans. Indigenous American identity is much more about maintaining links with an indigenous community, maintaining links to an indigenous culture, and perhaps speaking an indigenous language than ancestry alone (especially distant ancestry). Jessica Alba does not meet the criteria for any of that. Please read the "Talk" section for Maya Americans. 67.6.128.161 (talk) 04:13, 26 March 2024 (UTC)
