Genale

[edit]

I don't understand why you write "Genale Dorya" and not "Genale". In all the Italian books on the Italian Somalia there it is only the name "Genale".

Question about Genale Dorya

[edit]

In that article, you said of Genale Dorya that "Actually it is called Janaale." If you click that link, it goes to a different article that seems to be about the same location. Are Genale Dorya and Janaale the same place? RunnyAmiga (talk) 14:04, 14 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Genale and Janaale are 2 different localities, separated by the Shebelle river (and by the sad -but common at the times- rule of separating Europeans from native populations). Near the Genale of the colonists founded in 1924, soon grew a bigger city populated by Somalis (working as cheap labor force in the plantations): the actual Janaale. Both were separated by the small Shebelle river. After WW2 remained only Janaale, while Genale disappeared when the defeated Italians moved away from Somalia. Janaale actually has expanded and includes old Genale abandoned. Hope all is OK now. --Mustaf7barakat (talk) 01:12, 15 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
