Speedy deletion nomination of Murrow Center for Media and Health Promotion
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Murrow Center for Media and Health Promotion requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a clear copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. - Regarding this statement you made at User talk:Gilo1969:
- I am a faculty member acting in an official capacity for WSU and the Murrow Center and there is no copyright infringement: (Unambiguous copyright infringement of http://communication.wsu.edu/mcmhp/mcmhp.htm)
- I have checked the WSU Copyright Policy, and it is incompatible with Wikipedia's GFDL and Creative Commons licenses. If WSU wishes to donate the text about the Murrow Center, its webmaster will need to put a different license notice on the web page about the Center, clarifying that the text may be freely reused, including commercial reuse. —C.Fred (talk) 00:27, 20 September 2011 (UTC)
- The text you created at User:Murrowcenter/Murrow Center for Media and Health Promotion is also subject to the same WSU Copyright Policy—and to deletion from Wikipedia as an infringement of WSU's copyrights. —C.Fred (talk) 00:30, 20 September 2011 (UTC)
- I am new to Wikipedia so excuse my ignorance on the best means to communicate. As I noted, I am acting in an official capacity of the university and the center and would like to create a Wikipedia page. If I substantively rewrite the entry will that suffice? Murrowcenter (talk) 00:38, 20 September 2011 (UTC)murrowcenterMurrowcenter (talk) 00:38, 20 September 2011 (UTC)
- Yes. If you rewrite the entry so that it is in your own words, and not the words of the university, then the text will be under a free license (CC-BY-SA 3.0 and GFDL). There will be other concerns, such as your conflict of interest, but those can be overcome if you maintain neutral point of view in the text and cite secondary sources whenever possible. —C.Fred (talk) 00:53, 20 September 2011 (UTC)
Your username is the only reason for this block. You are welcome to choose a new username (see below).
A username should not be promotional, related to a "real-world" group or organization, misleading, offensive, or disruptive. Also, usernames may not end in the word "bot" unless the account is an approved bot account.
You are encouraged to choose a new account name that meets our policy guidelines. Alternatively, if you have already made edits and you wish to keep your existing contributions under a new name, then you may request a change in username by:
- Adding
{{unblock-un|your new username here}}
on your user talk page. You should be able to do this even though you are blocked, as you can usually still edit your own talk page. If not, you may wish to contact the blocking administrator by clicking on "E-mail this user" on their talk page. - At an administrator's discretion, you may be unblocked for 24 hours to file a request.
- Please note that you may only request a name that is not already in use, so please check here for a listing of already taken names. The account is created upon acceptance, thus do not try to create the new account before making the request for a name change. For more information, please see Wikipedia:Changing username.
- Adding
{{unblock|Your reason here}}
, but you should read our guide to appealing blocks first. Daniel Case (talk) 15:30, 20 September 2011 (UTC)

Decline reason:
Here are a few key questions:
- Do you understand that Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, and not a business directory?
- Do you understand conflict of interest?
- Do you understand that to be considered for an encyclopedia article, the subject must be notable?
You are currently blocked because your username appears directly related to a company, group or product that you have been promoting, contrary to the username policy. Changing the username will not allow you to violate the 3 important principles above. (talk→ BWilkins ←track) 22:56, 20 September 2011 (UTC)
Wikipedia:Ambassadors
[edit]The Wikipedia:Ambassadors Program, part of the Global Outreach Program, is "an effort to help new users and reach out to new potential contributors—particularly professors who want to incorporate Wikipedia into the classroom and their students who are assigned to edit Wikipedia. The Wikipedia Ambassador Program consists of two groups who work together to support these classes: Campus Ambassadors and Online Ambassadors."
I believe that you, "a faculty member of WSU", are part of the target audience of this outreach program. Hopefully, they could assist you in understanding the sometimes abrasive world of Wikipedia:Peer review. — John Harvey, Wizened Web Wizard Wannabe, Talk to me! 12:50, 22 September 2011 (UTC)
- Hello Murrowcenter, and welcome to Wikipedia. I am a Online Ambassador for the Global Outreach Program. If you would like help with writing an a article on the university I would be happy to assist you. Alpha Quadrant talk 15:38, 22 September 2011 (UTC)
