Conflict of interest editing
[edit]Hello, Muirfield1966. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the page David Hunt (actor), you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
- disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:Spam);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.
Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. -- Marchjuly (talk) 09:26, 2 June 2020 (UTC)
- Hi Muirfield1966. If as you stated in this post you are indeed David Hunt (actor) (FWIW, I've got no reason to not believe you), then please understand that Wikipedia would consider you to have a conflict of interest with respect to any written about you on Wikipedia (not only in the article about you, but also in other article where there may be content about you). Please also understand that Wikipedia would also consider you to have a similar conflict of interest with respect to anything written about your wife. If you have concerns about what's written about you on Wikipedia, please take a look at Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons#Relationship between the subject, the article, and Wikipedia for reference. Wikipedia has various ways of trying to help subjects of article, particularly when they are living persons, address any concerns they have about content written about them, but in general you should seek out such assistance and not try and fix things yourself. For more information on how to do that, please refer to Wikipedia:Plain and simple conflict of interest guide#Steps for engagement and Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#Making uncontroversial edits. If you have a further questions about this kind of thing you can ask them below or you can seek assistance at Wikipedia:Conflict of interest/Noticeboard or Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons/Noticeboard. -- Marchjuly (talk) 09:47, 2 June 2020 (UTC)
