sw wiki on the main page

[edit]

Currently sw.wikipedia appears to have 6,551 articles, but only Wikipedias with more than 20,000 articles are added to the interwiki link box, in order to keep it at a manageable length. So unfortunately I can not add it at this time. Good luck with the project, and let me know if you require any assistance. Prodego talk 22:40, 15 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I believe Marcos started the kiswahili wiki. See the first edits to sw:Mwanzo. +sj + 10:49, 6 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Ahh, I lived for a while in Kenya & Tanzania, and was brainstorming with friends from there how to expand the sw:wiki. Cheers, +sj + 23:10, 6 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Admin blocks

[edit]

Sure, admins can be blocked; in fact, it isn't a very rare occurrence. However, Prodego and I are just kidding; I've known him for three years or so, so we make jokes like that. Hope we didn't worry you! :) Cheers, Master of Puppets Call me MoP! 15:33, 27 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Indeed, MoP and I were just messing around. But if you want to read about an admin being blocked, take a look at this signpost article. Prodego talk 21:02, 27 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

monobook

[edit]

Howdy! In reference to your query on my talk page a few days ago, Laura1822/monobook.js contains needed code to run various bots, etc. that I have installed over time to use on Wikipedia. For example, the wikEd editor and an old counting tool by Interiot both require a hook installed on that page in order to run properly. You can see each of the tools by looking at the comment in green above each code snippet, e.g., "// install User:Cacycle/wikEd editing page extension." Hope this helps! Laura1822 (talk) 23:15, 11 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! It is hard to talk about computer programming in a simple way. monobook.js is javascript. You do not need it to use Wikipedia! It is only for extra tools you can add for your own convenience. My monobook.js page contains javascript codes for the extra tools. Go to User:Cacycle/wikEd to see one of the extra tools, which is named wikEd. Hope this helps! Laura1822 (talk) 20:18, 12 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I was just looking at this and found some old vandalism. I fixed it. Hope you did not think I wrote the offensive words. Laura1822 (talk) 21:33, 12 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Frank Zagarino, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you plan to expand the article, you can request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}} to the article and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. --Finngall talk 17:17, 15 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

An encyclopedia article on an actor should have significantly more content than "he's an actor", and if he's notable at all, then finding references shouldn't be be difficult. I tend towards the deletionist point of view that it's better to have no article rather than a bad article. It's certainly not unknown for me to work on improving an article that needs it, but I feel that if one is going to start an article, they should make the effort to get it right themselves rather than throw a place-holder out there and expect others to do the real work. Opinions vary widely on this point, of course, both among administrators (which I'm not) and among the editors at large, and I don't claim to be speaking for anyone but myself. If someone comes along to add more material, great, but my main activity here is a big game of Whac-A-Mole trying to get rid of the vandalism, the spam articles, the vanity articles, and the general cruft that naturally tends to accumulate here.
Please feel free to work on the article and to ask me further questions--I keep articles that I tag on my watchlist, so I'll be keeping an eye out. Take care. --Finngall talk 17:50, 16 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
[edit]

Hello. I am glad to see you adding interwiki links to Kiswahili articles. Could you please be a bit more careful when you do it? For instance, you always add sw: at the top of the interwiki list, with unnecessary extra lines that make ugly white space, and sometimes you delete other things (for instance here you deleted the article's link to Wikiquote). Best wishes, RobertGtalk 10:09, 18 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your reply. There's no problem - I know you did not delete that on purpose!!! Best wishes, RobertGtalk 10:43, 18 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Greetings Muddyb Blast Producer,

Could you kindly help me translate this short sentence into Swahili? Please.

The ten main beliefs of the church are.....:
Imani kuu kumi za kanisa...

But I'm not sure because I didn't understand what you was about to write - Ten Comandments or??--Muddyb Blast Producer (talk)

--Jose77 (talk) 02:59, 24 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thankyou very much Muddyb Blast Producer for your help! I am very Grateful.
May God Bless You!
This was what it was supposed to say:
The ten main beliefs of the church are:
  1. Holy Spirit - Roho Mtakatifu
  2. Baptism - Ubatizo
  3. Feet Washing - Kutakaswa (I'm not sure with this!!)
  4. Holy Communion - Komonio Takatifu
  5. Sabbath Day - Siku ya Sabato
  6. Jesus Christ - Yesu Kristo
  7. Holy Bible - Biblia Takatifu or - Maandiko Matakatifu
  8. Salvation - Ukombozi, Uwokovu
  9. The church - Kanisa
  10. Final Judgement

It would be great if you know the Swahili translations for these words.

According to the English-Swahili dictionary: Holy Spirit = roho Mtakatifu, Baptism = ubatizo. However I am not sure about the other words. Can you help me? --Jose77 (talk) 06:33, 26 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ooops, I really can't translate such a word, cause my English is strictly poor!! I'm not fluently writer-speaker of English, but I try sometimes. Let me try, but it won't be clear :) "Kweli Kanisa la Yesu" uumm?? Yes, you can say that in Kiswahili. But it seems as you have huge effort on this, are you among of the leader on that church??--Muddyb Blast Producer (talk) 04:33, 27 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thankyou for your wonderful help! Peace be with you.
I will try and find other Kiswahili speakers to help me translate the rest of the beliefs of the church. You could also help out if you want to.

Kiswahili

[edit]

Thank you for the good word, Sir! But don't be impressed. I use an online dictionary to translate articles and borrow sentences that I think I can use to create new articles. It is one way I will learn Kiswahili. The Kiswahili version of Wikipedia needs to be expanded, and I'm more than willing to help. I plan to get a good book that will help me learn the language better. Kiswahili is a beautiful language! jhendin 20:10 23 February 2009

Mississippi

[edit]

Muddy, if you have administrative authority I hope you can then correct an error. If you look at the article USA, and then look at the category "Majimbo ya Marekani" you will see all the states that are listed. If you click on "Mississippi" it refers you to Mississippi it incorrectly refers you to Mississippi mto. It should be a refernce to Mississippi jimbo. Can you change this? Asante sana! jhendin 5 March 2009 10:55 —Preceding undated comment added 15:56, 5 March 2009 (UTC).[reply]

Hello, Jhendrin. I am really sorry for the delay! I was not present for almost four/five days. But now I'm back with full energy! Regarding Mississippi: You also have an authority to change the articles if you have seen any error on them. I hope you know the rule of the Wikipedias, isn't it? One man can start an article, but many men can correct/add something on the artcles! What I meant is: if you are going to change it, there's nothing you can do to jeopardize it! I hope you understand my damn English, I will definetely go and change it right away! Cheers.--Mwanaharakati(Longa) 08:31, 11 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Old user page

[edit]

Hi Muddyb - I haven't deleted the old page, because I'd like to suggest a better alternative. if you've previously edited under that name and changed your user name, the best thing to do is to redirect the old pages to this one. Simply replace the content of the old user page with

#Redirect[[User:Muddyb Blast Producer]]

and replace the old talk page contents with

#Redirect[[User talk:Muddyb Blast Producer]]

That way, if there's any messages relating to your old work, you can still be found.

If you don't want people to know your old user name (if you changed user name for privacy reasons, for instance), then simply add {{db-user}} to the top of your old user page, and someone will delete it very soon.

PS - my health's almost back to normal. I was pretty ill for some time, but I'm feeling a lot better now. Grutness...wha? 01:39, 31 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Muddyb - I've deleted your old user page. I'm not sure exactly what policy is as far as deleting an old user talk page - it looks like they're supposed to stay even when a user has left Wikipedia, so instead of deleting that I put {{retired}} at the top, so that people will know not to leave any messages there. Congratulations on becoming a bureaucrat at Wikipedia ya Kiswahili! (I hope I got that right!) Grutness...wha? 09:18, 1 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I think the best thing to do is to mainly concentrate on your work on the Swahili Wikipedia and just add what you feel you are able to on the English version. There are lots of users who do a little work in languages that are not their main language (I have added small amounts to both the French and Maori Wikipedias, though I am not a strong speaker of either language). Do as much as you feel comfortable with - if you make grammar mistakes, they will be corrected, and any information you can add will still help. As to how I knew "Wikipedia ya Kiswahili", I looked here :) Grutness...wha? 10:25, 1 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hi Muddy Blast. Your requested translation of the Swahili Wikipedia article into the German language is completed. You can find it here. In the German wikipedia, the various language wikis are listed here. As you can see from the links of the language wikipedias, they do not have the usual article format, because they've been listed in the German 'Wikipedia-Encyclopedia'.  :) Best regards. Hi MuddyB, thanks very much for the articles you created. Unfortunately there are not enough verifiable and reliable third party sources for most articles on nigerian prominent personalities. For instance the Dominic article, I left it the way it is, after adding some references & the picture, in the hope that more third party websites will include information about the actress on their website, after which I could then update the article. The picture of Omotola had to be deleted. I will upload a new one soon. Thank you. Amsaim (talk) 17:19, 6 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hey, man, this is not to offend you at all. Would you like me to correct the language on your user-page to more standard English? Gott wisst (talk) 05:17, 2 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Right. I'll get onto it. Don't worry, I do not like to use bad language either. I offered because I saw you had a post somewhere saying you didn't have anyone to help you put your words in the right order. And I feel it is always nice to have someone help you with a language so that when you need to use it in real life, you do not seem to speak strangely to a native speaker of the language. Gott wisst (talk) 07:23, 2 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Ah yes, I'm using Wikipedia right now. I can't remember where I saw you post. I will try to find it. I do not make many contributions to the Modern English Wikipedia, rather, I contribute much to the Old English Wikipedia on another account. Your English is not very hard to understand, but some people would consider some of the ways you speak "incorrect"; much of it is not even to be considered "incorrect", but native speakers would simply feel that it was a strange way to speak (for example, most English speakers would say something like "because we're friends" rather than "for the sake of our friendship", but to say "for the sake of our friendship" is not at all "incorrect"). Feel free to ask for help with your English if you want to! Also, I have "corrected" and changed some of the wording on your account; you might want to read it. Gott wisst (talk) 07:48, 2 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I found where I saw your name: I saw it on Jhendin's talk page. Jhendin sometimes edits the Old English Wikipedia, so that's how I found your userpage. Gott wisst (talk) 07:56, 2 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I'm happy to help with what I can. Especially, if there are any articles you want to be translated into Old English, I can help. Gott wisst (talk) 09:27, 2 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I've translated the first part of the article on Tanzania to Old English. You can see it here. Say, could you please do a short version of the Māori language article on the Swahili Wikipedia? It'd be good if you could. Gott wisst (talk) 05:22, 3 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
