Hi, Thanks very much for tidying things up. Jud 00:53, 4 January 2006 (UTC)

Thanks!

Hello! Thanks very much for the barnstar. Most kind of you! Perodicticus 19:25, 4 January 2006 (UTC)

Copied from my talk page

Hi, I just wanted to say thanks for the patience and consideration you've shown on 5aret's talk page. I'll try to follow your example if I come into editorial conflict with a newcomer again. Regards, Muchness 07:04, 7 January 2006 (UTC)

ArbCom Vote

Hi Muchness,

As per your opposition vote to my ArbCom candidacy due to the lack of questions, I've elaborated on my statement and explanation at the questions page. I welcome any further questions to be asked to clarify any of your doubts, and let me know on my talkpage if it's urgent. Thank you for your interest! :)

check my IPA please on Joe Rokocoko

I've corrected the change you've made ipa pronounciation of rokocoko. Particularly the last two vowels and the use of the voiceless dental fricative.

however still not very confident with my IPA usage, apprecate if you could have a look and make sure its correct — Preceding unsigned comment added by Xorkl000 (talkcontribs)

Hi, re Joe Rokocoko - I based my IPA transcription on Joe's pronunciation of his own name, which you can hear here: [1] (scroll down to the clip labelled "See All Blacks Keven Mealamu, Aaron Mauger, Joe Rokocoko and Greg Somerville front the fans at an adidas store visit in Melbourne" - it's about 50 seconds into the clip).
I feel Joe's pronunciation of his name should take precedence, even if it's technically incorrect. --Muchness 04:38, 12 January 2006 (UTC)
thanks, but strongly disagree, i've heard him pronounce his name on radio here in fiji, and he pronounces his name correctly, am reverting --Xorkl000 04:44, 12 January 2006 (UTC)
Not a problem, and thanks for the correction. I may add a footnote to the article to cover the common mispronunciation. Can you add stress marks to indicate correct stress? Thanks and regards. --Muchness 04:51, 12 January 2006 (UTC)
thats one of the things i wanted you to check, my IPA is not that strong. Stress is on the second last sil --Xorkl000 05:34, 12 January 2006 (UTC)
No prob, added the stress. And thanks again for the correction. --Muchness 05:45, 12 January 2006 (UTC)

AfD Carry On Please

Are you aware of any reason why the above AfD (which I think you bought forward?) would be locked? Have just been trying to vote on it and cant get it... Cheers Jcuk 18:41, 18 January 2006 (UTC)

D&D format

I like your change in format for lead-ins to D&D articles: "In many campaign settings for the Dungeons & Dragons role-playing game. . . ." You should post it to Wikipedia:WikiProject Role-playing games--I noticed you're not listed there. You help would be welcome. Robbstrd 02:04, 1 February 2006 (UTC)

Superheroes RFC

Hi, I added an RFC under Media for this, but would you like to look at it also? At Talk:Marvel_Super_Heroes_(role-playing_game) There is a short discussion about whether to include a price/product list on the article main page. This list was deleted once but now it's back. Should it stay or go? Oh, and I hope this is the correct way to leave a message for you. Markspace 00:31, 15 February 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for the heads-up. I'll take a look and offer my 2 cents. Regards. --Muchness 03:08, 15 February 2006 (UTC)

WP:CVG image blanking

Hi, re your edit here, the image was blanked because it's against Wikipedia policy to include fair use images outside the article namespace. --Muchness 08:47, 18 February 2006 (UTC)

Oh I see. Thanks for the info. Perhaps a game cover placeholder, instead. Unless there's already one in use elsewhere, maybe I should look into that. Tertiary7 20:50, 18 February 2006 (UTC)
No problem. A placeholder image is a good idea and probably preferable to what's there now. --Muchness 21:06, 18 February 2006 (UTC)
Actually, is this really the case. Cover box images seemed to be commonly used outside article namespaces when used as reference for infoxes, here, and here. The preceding unsigned comment was added by Tertiary7 (talk • contribs) 08:17, 26 February 2006.
The policy guidelines are pretty clear about this – see WP fair use policy #9. I've deleted the images on the pages you linked to and left a note raising the issue on the article talk pages. --Muchness 23:19, 25 February 2006 (UTC)

Hey, I saw your edits and I want to question one thing. You stopped hiding the disambiguation parts of the title... is that really part of the MoS.... because that's incredibly stupid. It now says "Devdas (1955 film), 1955 film"... which is completely redundant and the reason I made it say "Devdas, 1955 film" is because it gave me the opportunity to properly format a disambiguation. Can you show me where in the MoS it says to do that... because, if it really does then I think that's really a stupid idea. gren グレン 14:01, 3 March 2006 (UTC)

Hi, see Wikipedia:Manual of Style (disambiguation pages), specifically the guideline on piping. The purpose of a dab page is to let the reader choose between several articles with the same title, and the parenthetical clarifier helps to disinguish them. Regards. --Muchness 19:12, 3 March 2006 (UTC)
I read it... I removed the redundant date and film... personally I think it should be piped if it can be explained well with a link to it.
Both get across the same thing... the first is prettier. But, you at least agree with my edit removing the redundancies, no? gren グレン 19:34, 3 March 2006 (UTC)
Yes, the page looks fine to me. Regarding your alternate piping suggestion, you should probably avoid this because it would make the page inconsistent with other dab pages. You can suggest the alternate method of piping at the MoS:DAB talk page. --Muchness 19:46, 3 March 2006 (UTC)

Borderlands

Why do you keep removing my link?.... Borderlands is not only a collection of numerous places to Role-play, but it's a resource for role players. Look under role-playing resources at our site and you'll find glossaries of role playing terms, players manuals for helping people learn to role play, and FAQs about role playing. Please stop removing the external link, it has just as much right there as the rest of the external links. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Truemper (talkcontribs) 21:30, 14 March 2006

Chuff guff

Why the hell did you remove 'chuff guff' as a euphemism from the vaginal flatulence page?? Whats wrong with it, its as valid as vart and pussy fart! You think you're being smart and/or clever by removing it?? 82.46.11.193 14:34, 14 March 2006 (UTC)

Hi, please see Wikipedia's notability guidelines and what Wikipedia is not. Wikipedia articles should not include slang terms, unless they are in notable usage. The term "chuff guff" returns 20 hits on Google, which leads me to believe it is not notable enough to warrant inclusion in the article. Regards. --Muchness 14:46, 14 March 2006 (UTC)

Eberron

Hey. I was tidying a bunch of articles on the minutiae of the fictional world of Eberron, and thought it would be good if the article explained why we're bothering to mention "Silver Flame", etc in the first place: namely, the fact that they're from an award-winning setting. The information as to who created Eberron (and its concomitant minutiae) seems equally appropriate for inclusion; however, clearly you disagreed. Might I ask what was your reasoning on this point? DS 14:59, 16 March 2006 (UTC)

Hi, I edited them for two reasons: precedence and my interpretation of the Wikipedia:Lead section guidelines. Firstly, in existing articles about aspects of D&D campaign settings (for instance, Forgotten Realms articles), it is not established practice to state the author of the setting and the reason(s) for the setting's notability in the article's lead sentence. Secondly, my feeling was that the extra qualifiers about the awards and author worked against the WP:LEAD guidelines, which state that the lead sentence "should be a concise definition of the topic". My opinion is that an official D&D setting is intrinsically notable, given D&D's preeminent status within the RPG community, but if you feel that some additional assertion of contextual notability is necessary for these articles, perhaps you could voice your concerns on Wikipedia:WikiProject Role-playing games? Regards. --Muchness 15:34, 16 March 2006 (UTC)

Protologism

Hi. There's really nothing wrong with redirects, even if an article has been AfD'd. Especially in situations like this, where the article has 50+ inbound links, a redirect can be rather useful. You might see Wikipedia:Redirects for Deletion, but creating a redirect where there used to be an article isn't anything speedy deletable. --W.marsh 01:11, 27 March 2006 (UTC)

When I created {{softredirect}}, my intention (explicited since the beginning on Category:Wikipedia:Soft redirects) was that articles should never receive it ("Do not add articles to this category."); the category is also a non-article category (which should not be used on articles but can be used on non-article pages). All the redirects from the article namespace using that template are historical artefacts (they were nonworking interwiki redirects, which I turned into soft redirects), which I'm working on eliminating.

Wikipedia:Soft redirect says explicitly that soft redirects to the Wiktionary should use {{wi}}; if it does not merit a {{wi}}, it should not have a soft redirect at all (MediaWiki:Noarticletext and MediaWiki:Noarticletextanon, which show when an article does not exist, already link to the definition on Wiktionary, so it can be found even without a redirect). There is nothing on Wikipedia:Soft redirect which says {{wi}} is only for articles "that could potentially be expanded to a Wikipedia article". Finally, I see nothing on the AfD and RfD that says the consensus is to use {{softredirect}}; the AfD result is a delete, and the RfD result was never announced (instead it was closed as "already turned into a soft redirect"); notice that both people who asked for a soft redirect never specified {{softredirect}}, and {{wi}} is also known as a soft redirect.

Because of all that, I'm reverting to the {{wi}} version, and undoing the changes to the intro of the category.

--cesarb 23:46, 12 April 2006 (UTC)

Hi, thanks for the explanation and my apologies for the misunderstanding. My objection to using the {{wi}} template was that it invites the user to start an article, when AFD has established that there should be no article in this case. Regards. --Muchness 05:54, 13 April 2006 (UTC)

Christopher Reeve

Providing vivid examples of the Christopher Reeve humor phenomenon is NOT turning the article into a jokebook. Would providing examples of Holocaust atrocities turn an article into snuff porn? I find it juvenile, ignorant, and inconsiderate for anyone to postulate otherwise. The examples included are neither unneccesary nor excessive. They merely drive the point home. I understand the need for concern over such a sensitive issue. On a personal level, I've dealt with these issues and can relate to your raising the question. However, by providing the reader with the truth, the honest truth, and yes...the AWFUL truth, the reader will henceforth be made privy to the full extent of the Christopher Reeve humor phenomenon. Does including a select few "inspirational" quotes make it an unbiased "love letter" to Christopher Reeve? Ask yourself these questions, and I will assure you that after much careful thought, you too will agree that the inclusion of examples of Christopher Reeve humor is both relevant and neccessary. A mere handful of examples as posted by me are in no way excessive. I've actually included a bowlderized version, as a close family member (closer than you'd care to know) lost the ability to walk. That person would agree that by raising the issue, one will be compelled to examine its effects on others as well as its implications on the very nature of man itself. Thank you kindly.

About Adding a recipe to the 'Doughnut' article

I am curious about why adding a recipe is not acceptable. If I look up scones for example - I think finding a scone recipe would be useful - same as doughnuts, bread, shepherd's pie and so on. A single example recipe on any food item would be an excellent section. Why is this not acceptable?

Thanks.

- webchat —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Webchat (talkcontribs) 16:58, 17 May 2006 – 16:59, 17 May 2006.

Hi, regarding the "no recipes" rule, this has been quite a contentious guideline. See the discussions here and here for an overview of the arguments for and against. The current practice is to move recipes to Wikibooks:Cookbook. Regards. --Muchness 04:27, 17 May 2006 (UTC)
Thanks, I will now campaign to have a limited number of basic recipes included in the encyclopedia. While all variants go to the cookbook. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 66.82.9.61 (talkcontribs) 17:50, 17 May 2006.

If you've got a moment, take a look at maggot. I like your reordering of the order that I tried to lay down on inspiration. "Maggot" is now getting an edit warring IP.
