It strikes me as rather odd to suggest that the arms in the top left quarter of the UofA's coat of arms are those of Old Aberdeen (and shown on that page). Admittedly, they are similar - but the one on the university arms lacks chains and incorporates what looks like a book being handed down from heaven. It seems more likely that these were the arms of King's College rather than Old Aberdeen. --Breadandcheese 14:26, 18 August 2007 (UTC)
That's what the Heraldry Society of Scotland says on their website, as noted on the page Can't argue with them. Personally, I vaguely remember being told such during my graduation ceremony.--Msuker 14:43, 18 August 2007 (UTC)
