Speedy deletion of Mighty Fairly

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Mighty Fairly requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for musical topics.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Notability of Mighty Fairly

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Mighty Fairly requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Eeekster (talk) 22:57, 27 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This is the last warning you will receive for your disruptive edits.
The next time you create an inappropriate page, you will be blocked from editing. You should really read WP:BAND. --PMDrive1061 (talk) 22:58, 27 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello and thank you for asking. Bands require an exceptionally high level of notability before they're allowed for inclusion. WP:BAND outlines the requirements. A couple of the criteria include a charted single and a major tour, either by themselves or as an opening act for a major band. Coverage in major print and electronic media is a big help if it's verifiable. Likewise signing on with a major record label. It seems as if the band in question has done some touring, so what you may wish to do is to create the article on a user subpage, like this: User:Msuemnig/Mighty Fairly. Click on that link to work on the article here on the site, but off of the main article space. If you can provide verifiable third-party references of the kinds I've suggested, simply paste the contents back to Mighty Fairly. Thanks again for asking. It makes solving these issues much easier. --PMDrive1061 (talk) 23:06, 27 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • Fantastic! That is precisely the sort of band article we need here. Give me a moment to review your last version of the article so that you won't have to go through the hassle of recreating it. Hang on... --PMDrive1061 (talk) 23:14, 27 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

OK, you're all set. I'm assuming you're the founder of the band based on your username. Good luck with your career and please do add the references you outlined on my talk page. FYI, I had a similar situation with another user who wrote about himself, but the article was so short it was impossible to ascertain who he was. Turned out he was the keyboardist for My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult. Go figure.  :) --PMDrive1061 (talk) 23:18, 27 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Great! Thanks so much! I'll make some more updates when I get all my references together!

  • You betcha. With all of the real "band vanity" articles we administrators delete on a daily basis, it's a real pleasure to welcome an article on a truly notable group. Have fun and don't hesitate to ask for help if you need it! PMDrive1061 (talk) 23:22, 27 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
